I've been waivering on this series and have been putting this book off for a long time. The first book wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. Well this one wasn't good for me.
I get that the fated mate thing is instant love. But this one had so much back and forth on fighting it that when they finally admitted they were mates it didn't work for me. Jason and the whole Jessica storyline was ridiclous. The first time I was like ok, whatever. But the second time?? Yeah no. You lost me as a reader.
Then we get to the ending and it's so rushed. God it's frustrating. Stop spending 70% of the book with these two fighting back and forth and let them be together already.
Either way, I'm walking away from this author. She's just not for me.
Felt both the main characters could have been more.
The alternative spy, etc work C did, as well as experience was ridiculous. Did not believe the set up, the lack of knowledge of bomb, etc was a glaring issue. No way a group of wolf shifters, and many who were in special forces, etc. would have missed finding who was culprit.
Not to mention the mine, mountain security, and police force not having specialized group on anti shifters. It would have been a reality and something they would be prepared for. Since many came to town to escape haters.
To start I did really like Christina and how she was a secret Badass and stood up for herself and in a way knew she deserved better. Her revenge obsession was understandable to me and her strong connection with Cordy. Overall I did really like her.
Now I wasn’t a huge fan of Jason. I’m not a big fan of playboys or as I like to call them man sluts who try to fuck who they want out of their system. And I will admit it was unclear if he was successful in doing the deed or not with anyone but the fact that he felt that desire and urge was a major turn off for me. And his jealousy was unreasonable. He was aloud to date other chicks but she could talk to or flirt with other guys?
But the big part in this book I didn’t like was that they were intimate after he had just been with another woman, not once but twice. Not my cup of tea and that’s what brought down my rating. At least have some self respect and was the other woman off first I mean come on. K
We have already established my love of dragons so its only natural that I read the second installment in Alicia's series. It has dragons, lions, bears, and wolves (oh my) LOL. One thing I've enjoyed so far is even though Matthew & Jason and Catherine & Christina are twins, they are uniquely them. I like the banter in this story along with the push and pull. There is a uniqueness so that even though everyone is finding a mate, it is individualized and never the same. Even from her previous series. This story was a cute read for me. I found the stubbornness of both characters to be funny at times. Other times, you wanted to smack their heads together. Jason and Christina are definitely the twins that want to deny, deny, deny. They fought till the end neither one wanting to admit the truth. Jason was the more outgoing twin. He was the one to cause trouble. That said, I liked how he would do anything for his brother, no questions asked. When the one thing he's asked to do leads him to find his mate, he freaks. I had to chuckle at Jason's dialogue with his dragon. It was like he kept giving pep talks as to why a mate was the BAD idea. When he finally pulled his head from his rear, he fought to win his mate's heart. Christina is definitely the stubborn sister. She has an agenda and refuses to let a mate stop her. I liked how her vulnerability was captured. She was guarded and scared. When she learned the truth, how she reacted, reflected her stubborn traits. I liked how different she was, yet how similar her and Catherine were. There are also so many secrets she refuses to tell. I feel like Christina's job was her rebellion from growing up like she did. When revenge becomes something she can taste, she will have an internal war going on. One thing I would have like to have more clarity on was did her sister know or not? I'm assuming so, but I was confused if she did. There is a beautiful way of mating the love birds in this series. I like it A LOT! It's the first dragon series I've read that has them mate in this way. KUDOS for originality. Overall this one has more humor and stubbornness than the first. There is also a clear development of a larger plot that will unfold during this series (well I hope it will). It has me anxious to see how it all plays out. It was a fun read for me and wasn't as suspenseful. I like that it broke up some of the tension with humor. Their reluctance and unyielding ability to accept each other as mates made for a fun read for me.
Jason Lennox sat in the office, pretending to be his twin brother, Matthew. He just had to act more cool and aloof and no one could tell the difference. He was standing in for his brother who had to rescue his mate, Catherine. She had been attacked and was badly injured, now recovering in the hospital. But she had a sister who was blaming Matthew for the attack and threatened to take her sister away from him. Matthew called Jason and asked him to delay the sister, Christina, while he talked to Catherine.
Jason went to Christina’s hotel and dropped his drink on the carpet in stunned shock! Christina Stavros was Catherine’s identical twin! And worse, his dragon recognized her – she was his mate! She walked outside and he ran after her. He tried to apologize for the run-in he (his brother) had that morning at the hospital. She insisted he was mistaken and she didn’t know him! Then she figured he must be her new limo driver, so he went with that to keep her from the hospital as Matthew asked. He helped her into his Silverado truck – explaining that the snow made it necessary to switch from the limo – and, while she was tapping on her phone, he took a side road to get them lost. He pretended the engine died and that he could not call the dispatcher because they had no cell phone reception. He pointed to her stilettos when she suggested walking somewhere for help, and he practically saw steam coming out of her angry face.
Jason and Christina fell asleep in the truck, until her chattering teeth woke him. She was curled in her wool coat, but her legs were freezing. While she was still asleep, he curled around her and his dragon heat kept her warm … until she woke up furious that he was so close to her, even wheel he pointed out the drool spot she left on his chest. Is she ever going to get to the hospital to be with her sister? Is Jason ever going to accept her as his mate when all he wants is his freedom to see whomever he wants? What happens when he discovers Christina’s big secret? And what major disturbance is yet to come that puts Christina in danger?
I loved this book! It was so much fun, along with the suspense and mystery of the story line. The characters’ contrasting personalities kept things hopping and I loved it! I can’t wait for the next one, where more crazy adventures are promised!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book
Back to Blackstone Mountain we go for Matthew and Cathrine’s wedding, but this is not Matthew and Cathrine part 2, nope this is allll about the bad boy twin Jason. We started at the end for Matthew’s book, from Jason’s point of view and continue from there. If you’ve read book one you remember that Jason pretended to be his twin to keep Catherine’s sister occupied so that she didn’t try to take her away before Matthew could try and talk to Catherine. It is always funny when a player finds the girls who he wants but wants nothing to do with him. Christina is Catherine’s twin sister and she wants nothing to do with the Blackstone Mountain, the Lennox family, and that doubly includes Jason Lennox. However, since her sister is getting married to his twin and living there she has no choice. The push and pull between Jason and Christina is great. I also love the secret that she is keeping from him, from well, just about everyone but her family! I also think that if I had a animal inside of me wanting one and only one person and I was fighting it, it would kill me, I have know idea how Jason fought it for so long. The side action is that there is a faction trying to take down shifters while there is a wedding and a budding romance is killer!! The question of who the faction is and where they will strike next makes for high tension and Montgomery does a great job with it. When Jason and Christina stop fighting what’s inside their hearts it’s beautiful. I can’t wait for more from this series and I know that the Lennox Twin’s cousin is next, but I am dying to see their adopted brother’s story!!
My fave book so far from the series and it's all because of the hilarious, smexy (and he knows it) younger dragon twin; Jason! The "player" of the bunch :D
He made such an impression during the first book when he was first introduced along with his twin brother Matthew and their other shifter friends.
If love characters who are sexy, funny, protective and know how to flirt their ass off... then I say you'll like Jason too. And I couldn't have asked for a better chick than Christine to give Jason a run for his money. Christine is no player but she knows the type..and that's Jason to a T.
When they discover that they're meant to be (aka "mates"), neither of them would accept it. Christine having other plans and not wanting to be mated to a guy who doesn't want to commit. And Jason who's in denial that his mate is a high maintenance, take no crap woman.
Oh the banter! LOL. The tension between these two is palpable! I loved it!
BTW: I probably should've mentioned earlier, each book can technically be read as standalone but you'd be missing out on the overall underlying plot line that's covered throughout each book, and grows more serious the further you get through the series.
Highly recommended read! I'm enjoying this series! *thumbs up* :)
One word : AMAZING ! As soon as i received this, i immediately started reading . One shot read. Non stop. This is Jason's book, one half of the Lennox twin. So his twin Matt is getting married to Catherine and at the end of book 1 , we see that Christina is able to differenciate the twins. According to legend, they must be mates. It definitely kept me interested throughout as this book has way more drama and action. Christina is such a bad ass heroin especially with her moves and secret job. Jason.. I honestly felt like wringing his neck when he appeared with Jessica. Urghh. Jason is in a dilemma, his dragon wants its mate but him? He doesn't want to be tied down to any woman. But the moment Christina looks at another man, he loses his mind. There's alot of pushing and pulling between these two before the romance begins. There's also big trouble brewing with the emerge of the anti shifter group creating chaos at the mountains and in their lives. Will there be peace again in the Blackstone Mountain ? Will Jason finally admits his love for his mate? This is a book that you should not miss. I really enjoyed reading it Alicia and can't wait to read the next installment!
I received an ARC and i'm voluntarily leaving my review.
the story is getting more and more complicated as more shifter haters are out to get those different from humans. In the meantime, picking up from the previous book both Matthew and Catherine's twins, Jason and Christina are literally at each other's throats. Problem is, Christina falls under the Blackstone rule and she, like her sister, can also tell the difference between the identical dragons. Thus makes her Jason's mate. I love that the two of them both fight this like the plague but her reasoning is because she wants to continue her job working with her family, she doesn't jump at the opportunity. Jason is a playboy and had a bad rep, and that doesn't help his situation with Christina. I felt though that Christina was an uppity bitch and she annoyed me for almost the entire book. Jason also wasn't really a piece but out of the two, I would take him. I thought it was cool though that the author made it so that Christina was not a damsel and could kick butt to protect herself and others. I enjoy the mystery of the attacks in the shifters and I'm curious where the author is going with this.
This was a fantastic addition to a great series by Alicia Montgomery!!! I love reading love stories about shifter's, dragons, or anything paranormal. Why do I love these kinds of books you may ask? Because they are sexy, fun and exciting as hell!! And this action packed book did not let me down. The story was entertaining as hell and kept me on the edge of my seat. The character’s were well written and in great detail. They were written so well in fact that I could visualize them in my mind as I read the story and it was as if I, the reader could hear them talking. I felt as if I was part of the story and that I was there watching and sometimes participating in what was going on. I could almost feel the character's emotion's. For me, this is what make’s a book great. That is why I love this author’s writing so much. This book was very hard to out down and is a MUST READ. I am excited to see what Alicia Montgomery has planned for the future of this great series. I voluntarily read this book as an ARC.
I was gifted an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Alicia Montgomery has done it again with her latest book The Bad Dragon. Leave your diary free - it’s addictive & the pages keep turning until it’s finished. The story focuses on Jason, the more rebellious and outgoing Blackstone Dragon & his sister-in-law’s twin sister. She is feisty, strong & cold. However Jason’s fire surely warms her up to hot hot hot! But how can they get together when neither want a mate and there is a bomber who hates shifters trying to destroy & hurt them all both at the mine and at Jason’s twin Matthew’s wedding. Add in secrets, four older brothers and a young sister, being chased and shot at, you can see why this book keeps you on your toes but maintains the family bonding unit through out the whole family! I can’t wait to read Penny & Ben’s story next. Who is Sybil going to be with Nate? Kate & Luke or Cordy & Luke. I can’t wait to find out!
I really enjoyed this new book in the Blackstone Mountain series. The main characters were well-matched and both completely bullheaded. Their romance wasn't sweet and sappy, but still it was satisfying for me. They spent most of the story being foolish, not communicating, and running away from each other. Honestly, I felt like they both deserved the torture they went through since it was all self-inflicted.
I enjoyed seeing Hank and Riva again. I loved the introduction of Christina and Catherine's family especially their father.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how Christina's job works now that she's living in Colorado. I hope it means we see more of her brothers. Maybe one of them falls for Kate or Sybil?
I enjoyed the epilogue which is rare for me. I have a love/hate relationship with those. *lol*
Christina is Catherine's twin from book one. She is human but her stepfather is an alpha wolf. She works undercover saving shifters from the anti-shifter groups. She is attracted to Jason her soon to be brother-in-law, who is the twin to her sister's mate. She doesn't like how she feels around him so she isn't looking forward to going back to Blackstone to help her sister with her wedding. Jason's dragon knows that Christina is his mate but Jason doesn't want anything to do with it. She is rude and hates him for keeping her away from her sister last time she was in town. He is a lady's man and wants things to stay the way they are. There is plenty of conflict between these two characters. Add in the accidents at the mine, sabotage at Matthew and Catherine's wedding and someone trying to kidnap Christina and you have quite an adventurous story. I have enjoyed reading the first three books in this series and looking forward to more!
AN ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL ACTION-PACKED ROMANCE by Alicia Montgomery , she writes a fast-paced thrilling compelling action-packed structure storyline and well developed characters in Jason Lennox and Christina Stavors and supporting characters in Matthew Lennox and Catherine Stavors in a exquisitely brilliant well written story . The story is drama hilarious rom-com adventures emotional rollar coaster provocative captivating sizzling chemistry strength of character hostilities suspense action mystery high-risk thrilling compelling feelings twist turns obstacles hurdles and captivating from start to finish 💋 💖 . I love and highly recommend this book to everyone 😆 😙 . I can't wait for the next book . I voluntarily ARC for honest review .
Arc given by the author for an honest review. I was disappointed by the first book and really looking forward for this one. My faith on the saga has been restored and it is the best one yet; so Happy!!. We were introduced to the hero and heroine in the 1st book. Now they are back as best man/maid of honor to their twins sibling. Both Jason and Christina were fighting their attractions with bickering and insulting each other. It took a lot of work for them to let go of the false assumption towards one another and just let the passion flows. The backstory of the mysterious group that threatened the shifters was good that give strength to the plot and set up the villain an in the future books. Overall it is one of my fav books by the author and i can't wait for the next one featuring our bear Ben.
I really enjoyed this story! I love the Blackstone Mountain series. The characters are always fun. In this one we get Jason and Christina, the twins of Matt and Catherine (first book). Both are focused on other things and so don't exactly want the whole mate thing, at least that's what they think. Both are good at putting up a front as well so neither knows that the other one is just as drawn to them. I liked the twists that pop up in this one. It definitely keeps you interested and turning the pages. This is a well written read that will keep you engaged and entertained. There is plenty of action going on and tension between the characters. The sex is explicit, when they finally get there. I enjoyed the story and getting to know these characters, along with their families better and am very excited for the next book! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
The suspense for this plot was a really good concept, and this book had so many opportunities to be great- the anticipated lead-up had me hooked, the secret organization, her being a bada$$, he's about to figure himself out and grovel- but then,....... everything just fizzled out!!! So disappointed. They both went from conflicts with each other to happy-happy, lovey-dovey, "I love you"- "I love you too", "Yes, I'll change my whole life for you" mush! sigh. Christina always seemed to have the upper hand throughout this whole book, and when Jason wasn't denying her, left him to try and play catch up. The first book was sooooo good! I guess I just was expecting much, much more. More deets, more plot, more suspense- just MORE, PLEASE! So sad. 😣 I hope Ben's story is much better.
Talk about your inner turmoil! Jason absolutely does NOT want to settle down, but his inner dragon recognizes Christina as his mate and won't give Jason any rest until he claims her!
I loved the way the author portrays the sets of twins - they're closer than non-twin siblings, but they also have very different personalities. Jason's relationship with Christina is very different than Matthew's romance with Catherine, but true love always wins regardless of the complications.
There's lots of drama and tension in this story, and the secondary story line is a perfect complement to the romance. In addition to a swoon-worthy HEA we also are gifted with a glimpse of the next romance in the amazing Blackstone Mountain world. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Anyone who read book one "Blackstone Heir" knows that Jason and Christina's first meeting didn't go too well. So why can't she stop thinking about him? Jason has never wanted a mate or felt he deserved one. So why does his dragon keep saying "mine"? It's just because Christina is Catherine's twin and Catherine is marrying his twin brother. Right? It's all DNA or something. The fact that Christina can tell Jason and Matthew apart has nothing to do with it. They can't be mates and Jason is determined to fight it. But you can't fight fate. When a threat comes calling decisions have to be made and new alliances formed. I'm loving this series and looking forward to future stories...especially Luke's.
*I received an Advance Reader's Copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing*
This author writes great paranormal romances. I love the characters she creates.
It was interesting to find the siblings from the first book find themselves as mates as well. Neither of them were looking for a mate but they found it hard to resist. While I recommend you read the first book too, you can enjoy this as a standalone and get enough information to follow along fine.
Christina has a lot of secrets. She doesn't want a mate to tie her down but finds Jason hard to resist. Jason likes to be free too and thinks he can do without his mate but love has other plans for him. The chemistry between them is very strong and it is fun to watch them fight it.
The Blackstone Bad Dragon is a great addition to this series by Alicia. My love of anything paranormal, especially where there are shifter's makes me continue to return to Alicia’s books. Everything is in these books action and adventure, twists and turns (like a game of twister), love and hate, fear and happiness, sexy and steamy. Why would you not love to read these books?
As always there is a subplot that makes the books more interesting and entertaining. The character’s that Alicia writes are were well written and they always have depth behind them which makes you feel like you know them and are involved in their lives.
I am waiting to see what Alicia Montgomery has instore for us with the rest of this series.
I must say that this series just keep getting better and better. I have to say that I loved Jason's action with certain situations, which I won't say since I don't give spoilers. You'll have to check it out for yourself to see what I'm talking about. But I didn't like all the back and forth between Jason and Christina. I mean it's a privilege and a honor to find your true mate and the whole book is base on the shifer finding their true mate so I didn't understand why they were fighting it so hard. Overall a enjoyable and entertaining read. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no minority compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.
I loved this book. The author has that magic that draws you in from the very beginning and keeps you reading to the very end. I didn't want to put this book down, but as it isn't one of those short novella books I had no choice but I picked it straight back up the following day. This series has an original storyline with believable characters that draw you into the story and keeps you reading to find out how their lives progress. This can be read as a standalone but it does contain characters from the previous book and you would be missing out by not reading it. If you enjoy Paranormal Romance with shifters then you are truly going to love this book and the series
Matthew and Catherine are getting married, his parents returning for the occasion and to meet Catherine's family, who of course will be attending. One major problem. Matthew has a twin brother, Catherine a twin sister who when they meet are attracted to each other, they are mates, but both in denial, don't want a mate, too busy for a mate. Wedding day arrives, so does major disruption. Someone is gunning for them, will they get the chance to sort their complicated love life while under attack. This series is individual books, but a continuing story running through it. So reading in order is best. Sue P
The story is almost entirely about resisting the mating bond. But it's full of action and lots of thrilling intrigues. I liked this story, but this series isn't quite as good as the True Mates and the Three brothers detective agency... I rated those well above five stars... This series so far is nearer right on five stars really. Jason always was the funnest Dragon shifter... Hopefully this is an early series and Alicia Montgomery relaxed into writing so the rest of this series is just gonna get better... This book was better than the first one in This series.
I never thought I'd think dragons were good book boyfriends, but here we are! Jason is in total denial about finding his dragon's mate, he just never saw himself settling down. And Christina fights it once she figures this out, too. Both such a stubborn pair! And Christina has a secret. She's actually pretty bad-@$$.
There's some super hot scenes, my fave is a scene outside of his truck. Whew! There is also some suspense and action. Actually a lot of it. There's so much more to look forward to in future books, I'm excited to see what direction this all goes in!
This series just gets better and better, this is a voluntary honest review in return of an ARC. I have wanted to read this since my first glimpse of Jason and Christina. You would never know from the beginning that she's pretty kicka$$. I think she and Jason belong together even though it takes them so long to pull it together. The intrigue of the bad guys is very interesting. Can't wait to see where that goes. Now that I gave seen a sliver of Penny and Ben I am on tenterhooks. Bring on more Blackstone!
Ahh those sexy Lennox twin...hot Dragon's from a good family and now Matthew is getting married to his mate! His twin Jason is doing his best to help but his future sister in laws twin is driving him crazy! His dragon is yelling mine and mate! But he doesn't do those thing's! Nope no way no how! Well let me tell you she's saying the same thing! While everyone is getting ready for a wedding there's something foul going on around them. This author does a great job spilling out a great storyline with awesome characters. Definitely a great read.
