If you're a mum who wants to run, there's nothing stopping you!
When busy mum Leanne Davies set up a social media group for her and a couple of friends to encourage one another to go running, she never imagined it would quickly become a nationwide network of thousands of women, all sharing a passion for the sport and a penchant for colourful compression socks.
Gathering the very best of the advice and tips from the Run Mummy Run network, Leanne and co-writer Lucy have created this comprehensive beginner’s guide to running that includes sections on:
• From starting with a Couch To 5k plan to building up the confidence to race • Fitting in running around work and family life • Overcoming barriers to exercise • How to keep on running when motivation wanes, and much more!
Not just your average practical go-to, this book is filled with down-to-earth advice, training schedules and inspirational stories that’ll help you to be fit, healthy and happy.
If only I could run as quick as I read!! Wow well done. I loved this from beginning to end. Its a book that you will returning too for tips and advice. If you are only reading reviews to decide wether to buy it or not my advice is buy it. You will not regret it. Its so helpful.
I give solid four stars to this book, simply because this is one of the few examples of a good running book written by a woman for women. I've read so many books on running and many of them are written by male authors and it is nearly impossible for a man to tell all these different aspects of running for women starting from clothing to physical differences to security concerns etc. Not only that, it is a joy to learn that the writer of the book is, at the same time, the founder of a running movement for mums in UK; such a delight. Last but not least, this is a technical book, mainly for beginners, yet this book covers many aspects of running in detail without boring the reader. I'd recommend it easily to women runners everywhere.
Look as far as motivating books. This is good. It goes through all about running and things that you dont often think of. Like running when you have your period. Food that causes runners trots. Different training programs and diet requirements. Only downside was it was from England. So all runs spoken about are in the UK.
It’s is a fantastic anecdotal running accompaniment! Written by my friend Leanne Davies it is especially good for the newbie runner with hints and tips and good sound advice on how to get started. How to progress, training plans, dietary advice. It’s all in here and more!
I thought this book was great. It’s easy to read, full of useful, helpful information and has pretty much all the knowledge and encouragement you need to get running. Go read it and get running :-)
Read this if you’re new to running even if you are not a mum. This book literally answers loads of questions and offers heaps of advice. It’s essentially running for dummies (in a good way).
This book would be a five star rating if you are beginning from scratch with running and live in the UK. Personally, the majority of the content I was already aware of and because I don't live in the UK, I skim-read the race recommendation parts.
I’m probably too experienced a runner to get the best from this book. It is however full of encouragement and lots of hints and tips on how to get started, keep going and enjoy running at any level. It includes training programmes for various race distances. It is specifically aimed at women, obviously , so does cover things such as periods, pregnancy, sports bras and so on. I did glean a few tips from reading this and it did rather make me want to lace up my trainers and go out for a run. Recommended for newbie runners.
Bought for me as a gift by my daughter as I started Couch to 5k , recommend to anyone new to running, particularly busy women who dontt put themselves first very often.
A really uplifting and motivating read that celebrates women supporting women through fitness and community 💪💛 I loved how relatable and encouraging it was with stories that remind you running isn’t just about speed or distance but about confidence and self-care 🌸✨
It was full of great tips and personal insights that made it feel friendly and empowering like chatting with a supportive friend on a run 🏃♀️☕️ Some parts were a little repetitive, but the overall message was inspiring and heartwarming.
A perfect read for anyone wanting to move their body, feel stronger, and reconnect with themselves along the way 💕📖
