She was a cop. He, a vigilante with a secret. It could never work. Police detective Kara Monaghan and wolf Curragh Dominion are after the same evil Russian mob boss, but by very different means. When they randomly meet in a bar and chemistry flies, they have no idea until it’s too late that they’re on different sides of the law. Punches are thrown, laws broken. So why can’t she stop thinking about him, and why is he so different from any man she’s ever touched? To make matters worse, since they both want to take down Viktor Kruglov, they keep running into each other, and always at the wrong time. But is there ever a right time, when searching for a phantom amid a sea of crime?
An author, actress, and filmmaker, Faleena Hopkins writes primarily love stories with heat and humor. Sometimes with supernatural tendencies since fantasy and magic are a passion.
She lives in Los Angeles, CA, with her dog, Sophia, where she spends too much time behind a computer (but secretly loves every second).

A new author to me and a plot that caught my interest. If you enjoy shifter romance but are perhaps looking for something a little less fluffy than the norm then this might just tempt you as well. First up its set around a very small pack of vigilante werewolves in Chicago and perhaps most importantly the heroine is a police detective . Now I know that trope is frequently used, female cop attracts sexy shifter/ vamp etc but this has a more realistic almost gritty edge. Not since the character Eve Dallas have I been so sucked into a story set around a female detective. Now I won't lie it's not perfect but from the start I found myself impressed with the authors ideas. Kara has relocated due to personal reasons and she is getting a hard time from her new colleagues but luckily her boss understands the prejudice aimed at her. A case that is seemingly not going away has plagued the Chicago PD for far too long. A chance tip off sends Kara into more than just the seedy underbelly of mob activities, it puts her right in the path of the guy she recently hooked up with! So not professional but Curragh just keeps showing up and guess what? Kara may not be immune to his charms but he is most definitely not on the right side of the law! So this is a paranormal romance but I really liked the crime drama edge that the author came up with. It felt fresh but the mystery surrounding the mob boss added greatly and I truly didn't see the twist coming! Add in hot scenes that will appeal to many readers and it's certainly written by an author who I will look out for. I was left with questions about the wolves and their laws but hopefully further stories in this series will address those . If honest I thought the end a tad rushed but I did receive an arc with slight formatting problems so perhaps that explains it and I'm sure that will be addressed upon publication . So bottom line if I ignore the last two chapters it's a book with interesting characters, there is clearly much more to come and it will be interesting to find out just what else these werewolves are capable of. I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review Four and a half from me
Genre: Erotic Paranormal romance Author: Faleena Hopkins Book: Werewolves of Chicago: Curragh My Star Rating: 5
Fast paced Book This story was so different than other werewolf books I have read. Curragh's is one of Xavier's pack mates whom we met in Dantae's story and like the others they are working to make the streets of their home, Chicago, safer. Detective Kara Monaghan and Curragh have the same goal, end the reign of Viktor Kruglov, Chicago/Russian Mafia leader from committing heinous crimes. The unexpected twists and turns will keep you turning pages, I could not put this book down, Can't wait to read about Curragh's pack mates.
(RabidReads.com)When Brandee at Bookworm Brandee’s Blog, posted about the Chicago werewolves series, I immediately bought Howard’s story, and recently read it. Turned the page after finishing, and there was book one, Curragh’s story. So I continued reading even though I was reading them out of order. At first I wasn’t sure I was going to like that, but ended up enjoying both of the books-a lot. That being said, it will make more sense to you if you read Curragh’s story first. It was originally published as a serial, and then included in it’s entirety, with Howard’s story.
Whereas the New York werewolves(the original series)have respectable high paying jobs, the Chicago group operates pretty much on the wrong side of the law. Both groups work to help people that are being mugged, raped, assaulted, etc. Now the Chicago group has taken on the biggest mob boss in Chicago, someone the police have been hunting for nine years. Curragh and his packmates, Xavier and Draik, keep to themselves, except for the women they sleep with, and of course keep the secret of their existence away from humans. Kara, a human, has transferred from New York to Chicago as a police detective, after a bad divorce. She is assigned to the mob division. See where this is going? Well it got there a bit differently than you can imagine, because Kara and Curragh’s meeting has zip to do with the mob, and everything to do with a gritty sexual encounter between two strangers. And I can’t believe I am going to say this but, it totally worked for me!
As usual with this author’s characters, most are all fully realized and complex, with the exception of a full back story for the Chicago wolves. I would like to know more about their life before Chicago, and more about how they pay their bills. Hopefully, the farther we go into the series, more details will develop. I really liked Kara and how smart and sarcastic at times she is. But she’s also tough as nails, with a vulnerability that she rarely shows anyone. Curragh is the epitome of an alpha wolf. He too, is smart, strong, and he just met his vulnerability in the form of Kara. Howard is introduced as a skinny wimp of a medical examiner-and a wolf. He’s brilliant, and is already a doctor at twenty two. All Howard wants is to be accepted by a pack, as his own pack wants very little to do with a wimp.
This was filled with exciting scenes, piles of dead bodies, suspense, and over the top romance. Sexual chemistry for days. This author gets better with every book I read by her. I liked the New York werewolves, but so far I am loving the Chicago ones. There was nothing simple about this story, and the premise became pretty intricate as it went on. In the end, I really enjoyed Kara and Curragh’s story and really look forward to reading Xavier and Draik’s stories, as well.
Highly recommended to adult paranormal romance fans. I also think some urban fantasy fans that don’t mind a romance, would find a lot to like about this book-especially when the book ends up spending a good portion of the story with characters running around underneath the city as this one does.
FYI-I received both books bundled together, but that might have been a limited time offer.
WEREWOLVES OF CHICAGO; CURRAGH-A THRILLING SUSPENSEFUL ROMANTIC STORY.
The story focuses on; Kara Monaghan, a sexy, audacious, fiery tempered, beautiful Detective; Curragh, a sultry, stop your heart gorgeous, powerful, werewolf vigilante; Xavier and Draik, two potent, sexy werewolves, Curragh's pack mates, also vigilantes.

Detective Kara Monaghan and Curragh have the same goal, end the reign of Viktor Kruglov, Chicago/Russian Mafia leader from committing heinous crimes. Their sizzling romance starts in a bar and continues to flourish. Kara has a haunted past and finds it hard to trust men. Meeting Curragh catapults Kara into a world of secrets and deadly danger......and when she goes missing Curragh's rage sends him and his pack mates on a hunt for revenge......
INCREDIBLE-fast paced well written read by a truly gifted author. The characters are certainly praise-worthy and come alive with breathtaking scene descriptions, exhilarating plot, and fantastic dialogue. The romance between Curragh and Kara sizzles and is filled with undying devotion. I relished this story, a most entertaining read. If you treasure shifter romance with danger and action this is an excellent book for your library. {I was given a copy of this book for a completely honest review}. In the world of shifter romance the possibilities are endless and always fascinating. Without reservations I highly recommend this book.
I loved this book from start to finish. It has intrigue, action, romance, hot scenes and a cast of characters who are all individual and appealing. Curragh and Kara's characters are strong and complex. Xavier and Draik perfectly round out the pack.
Curragh is a strong and sexy werewolf who finds himself falling for the one person he should avoid, a cop. Kara has just transferred to Chicago from her old precinct and is finding it tough proving her salt, despite how hard she'd worked in her previous post, so she's determined to show her metal.
There is a Russian mob boss in town who is the target for both the cops and the pack of werewolves. Although both fighting for the same cause they are very much different sides of the same coin, but can Curragh and Kara work it out? The attraction is there, but are their worlds too different?
I look forward to reading other books by Faleena Hopkins. This is the first book of hers I have read and I honestly loved it. I started reading Eli this morning :)
Hot Damn! This stand-alone, no cliff hangers novel draws you in, hard and fast. Excuse my immature twittering but “teehee”. I have always enjoyed books that bring you in hot and heavy, formalities be damned! I thoroughly enjoyed Kara and Curragh’s chemistry, even though they tried to stay away from each other at first. Because you know, a cop and a criminal aren’t the best mix for a future partnership.
A captivating werewolf story I got this ebook as ARC and started reading immediately. The story of cop Kara and werewolf Curragh is captivating and you won't stop reading until you find out what happens to them. If you're into fantasy, I can highly recommend this book. I loved everything I've read from this author so far and can't wait for the next book.
Faleena has done it again. A suspenseful story and loving story. I only found a total of two typos in the whole books, but easily correctable and doesn't take away from the story at all. Faleena pairs a cop and a werewolf with secrets to hide. What could be more amazing a story. I can't wait to see what she does with the rest of the pack.
I loved the more animalistic side of Curragh, “let them wait,” he growled, palming her swelling breasts before pulling them from her bra. “These are gorgeous.” Curragh is not a bashful man, “you’re not wearing anything!” He waved her off and went to open the door..." I loved Curragh and his packmates and I'm looking forward for them to get getting a book.
Not a bad book. Didn't take me long to read this book. The beginning of the book was a bit confusing at first, but then I couldn't put it down. Started this book while taking a bus for my daughters field trip. 248 pages is really good for a free book on B&N. I am waiting for the next book in this series to come out so I can continue on with it.
I received this A.R.C. in exchange for my honest opinion. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this, a few nice twists to the plot. If you've read any of the New York Werewolves you'll love the story of Curragh and Kara
Loved this book. Kara and Curragh are amazing. Can't wait to read about Curragh's pack mates. I could not put this book down, it was funny, scary, page turner, with great love scenes. Did I mention the Russian mob. A must read
I received a free e-book from Faleena Hopkins as apart of the Goodreads giveaways and I must say, I throughly enjoyed the book. It was a very fast paced novel that was full of action with no dull spots. Would definitely recommend. I look forward to reading more novels from Faleena in the future.
Suspenseful and steamy, with everything Faleena Hopkins is famous for. I loved it that women were shown as strong (and evil) too, without just focusing on the oh-so masculine and powerfully intriguing werewolves.
I read his and pieces of this book and was dying to see the conclusion. I had to buy and read from the begin because I enjoyed it so much. They are so good and I enjoyed the previous ones.
Really enjoyed this book. Exciting and suspenseful all rolled into one interesting story. First time reading this author, but was not disappointed in the least. Very adult content, so wouldn't recommend it to young adults.
I won't support an author who bullies others. Unfortunately I liked this book and this author until I saw what she decided to do to other authors. I will not encourage bullying ever. And I will make aware to other readers of what is happening.
Great book! Had me on edge & shocked. Curragh & Kara think they are on different sides but can't stay away from each other. Waiting to see what will happen next!
The story focuses on Kara Monaghan, a sexy, audacious, fiery tempered, beautiful Detective and Curragh, a sultry, stop your heart gorgeous, powerful, werewolf vigilante in the streets of Chicago. Xavier and Draik, two potent, sexy werewolves, Curragh's pack mates are also vigilantes. Thing is they are searching for the same person, a Russian named Viktor Kruglov responsible for the rampant crime going on in the city. But Viktor surprises everyone towards the end and it will surprise you as well
Kara and Curragh hook up at a club and things really heat up between these two, especially when Curragh discovers that the hot chic he just got it on with is a human Detective and then the action really starts. Kara has no idea what she's up against, or what her heart throb really is.
This story is chock full of mystery, action, intrigue and lots of hot passion and I can't wait to get my eyes on book 2. I could not put this book down and believe me neither will you!
Ms. Hopkins really did a wonderful job putting this story together.
The first pages are set in the present day where the beautiful, feisty Chicago detective investigator, Kara Monaghan, is having red hot sex with a gorgeous hunk of muscle in a bar's bathroom...and nearly being caught by the cops. She can't believe she'd put her job in jeopardy for a tryst with a stranger...and he's horrified he's tapped a cop. Kara's divorce from her cheating ex spurred her to sever her life in New York and suffer the bigoted comments of her fellow male colleagues. Trust is an issue but when she and Curragh keep 'meeting'...and they both realize they're both after the elusive, evil, Russian mafia boss...situations steam up for sure. Curragh, and his pack mates, Draik and Xavier are good, vigilante werewolves but step well over the line of the law. He's disgusted he's screwed a cop but can't stop thinking or seeking, (sniffing), her out. A great read, good characters, plenty of sex scenes, bad language, violence, betrayal, trust and good storyline, although it did jump around in places at times. Found it free and would recommend. 3.5*
I did enjoy this book. It moved at a pretty good pace and the sex scenes were hot. Like slam me up against the bathroom door scorching hot. Every sex scene was scalding!!! Lol. Kara is a cop and Curragh is a vigilante wolf shifter with a pack of brothers who basically take the law into their own hands. At first it seemed that things would not work out for these 2. Kara worried that Curragh was some sort of criminal and Curragh knowing that he was a shifter and she being a cop would hinder the shifter justice that they normally hand out. Thankfully they are able to realize the signs between them and Curragh realized that Kara is his mate. I only have one complaint and that is the scene where Kara gets caught by the enemy and is held captive by Viktor and henchman in the bathroom. I could have really done w/o that. I mean she's a badass cop for heaven's sake. Curragh is a tough guy except when it comes to Kara, then he's a big softie. lol. I was very happy that Kara was a kick ass heroine and she got her vengeance in the end. A great read.
This was brilliant writing. It kept me interested. I loved how everything good of a werewolf was portrayed. I could visualise every moment. The love of these werewolves makes perfect sense.
This was first foray into the world of Faleena Hopkins and it certainly will not be my last :)
Curragh is more of a romantic suspense than pure romance. It tells the gripping story of Kate, a cop, and Curragh, a vigilante, and their adventure in Chicago to bring down a criminal. The sex is scorching and the mystery unpredictable (a good thing in my book). The supporting characters are great and need their own stories :) The interactions between the men was funny! I love a sense of humour in my heroes.
Kara is a ball buster and willing to go the distance to tag the criminal. But this case might be too much for just her. Warning: this book comes in parts and you will be needing each one or commit murder! I was so taken into this series! I am ready for the next one, especially for a mission with Curragh.
