LONG SHOT

Rate this book
POTUS is flying to the West Coast on a voter appreciation trip – a trip that portends assassination and mayhem.

LONG SHOT is a 38,000 word novella involving conspiracy and assassination The President has had a difficult two years in office and needs to do everything he can to reach the voters and let them know that he has their best interests at heart. Part of his plan is to reach out to his base and thank them for their support. He needs to reassure them that he hears them and, in spite of the difficulties facing his administration, is working hard to pass legislation aimed at leveling the playing field for everyone. His mantra (not often iterated) is - down with big business, strip the wealthy and provide for the people of the nation through the wisdom of government. Unfortunately for him, a large number of the population does not agree with his agenda and there are those who would just as soon see him gone. A trip begun with great anticipation of overwhelming support in the warm Spring sunshine of the West Coast, reverts to a dark and sinister assassination plot that plays out in the old and little known “shanghai” tunnels beneath the streets of Old Town to the affluent Portland West Hills and all the way into the farm lands west of the city.

Portland PD Homicide Commander, Lieutenant Randall Akina, fresh off an exhausting case that resulted in the capture of an itinerate street minister and serial killer, again finds himself in the middle as the assassination plot unfolds and his decisions impact the well-being of hundreds of citizens and the fate of the assassins.
