He was forced to guard the kidnapped human meant to be the king's wife,
but whose side was he really on?

Alexis Fisher wanted to work for NASA, but she wasn't treated as an equal due
to her young age and gender. In a desperate act of defiance, she became a mail
order bride for an alien species. On Arkani, a peaceful planet, there might have
been a chance to show her scientific skills. All bets were off when her spaceship
was captured by the warriors of Milisaria and the king chose her as a mate.

Nabvan was the king's second in command. He felt dishonored by the king's order
to act as a simple guard for the human female. Humans only interested him as
allies in war. But, this one began to get under his skin. She withstood cruelty and
pain in order to uphold her self-respect. In doing so, she gained his as well.

Alexis didn't want to marry the king. He had far too many concubines already.
Her defiance brought out King Shene's cruel side. He had her beaten and starved.
Nabvan couldn't afford to show his displeasure to the king, but he also couldn't
allow the human to suffer.

Would the mighty warrior defy his king for a mere human? Was Alexis worth
dying for?

First let me state, I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.

Gr8 story. Alexis is a human woman who only wants to be treated equally as men. When NASA refuses to hire her, (too young, not enough experience, etc), she signs up to be a alien-mail-order-bride with peaceful aliens, but she's taken by warrior aliens. The king takes her for a bride, (but he's cruel and already has many brides). Nabvan is her guard and he sees how strong she is against the king's cruelty and falls for her. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up

I absolutely hate giving bad reviews, buuuttt...

Ok just so we’re clear I have great admiration for writers who do what they love and this review is not to put down the author, but hopefully it will be seen more as constructive criticism. The biggest thing that I noticed is this story needed more building... that would be world building (other than a page description of the world and it looks and that there are outlying villages where nabvan grew up), character building (the H/h had minimal background given, just the requisite this+this+this=why I am this way), relationship (where was the growth? “You are strong so I love you” was the main feeling I got from their relationship. Also, the big no-no for me was when she slept with both but she loved nabvan, but said she would use the king for rough sex? Uh, no not when proclaiming love for one man. Doing your duty I can see, but interchanging the love for someone you resent? Nope.), and finally, building the climax of the story. We were reading about how much she dislikes the woman and feels they are whiny and selfish, and then BAM! Must save them or die trying! Then BAM on the ship and they are caught, then BAM THEY ARE SAVED and she stays with him. Like in 10 pages.

A sci-fi romance with a true romantic hero of legend, a GREAT read!!
Celeste Raye is a wonderful writer and her latest offering, Nabvan, although intense, is one of those feel-good stories where the reader is tempted to cheer when the bad guy is vanquished. The kind of feel-good read that makes you want to go back to where you purchase your books and read everything this author has ever written. Not only was there great science fiction with new galaxies to explore, sentient races to meet and different cultures to understand, but author Raye did a marvelous job of building well-rounded characters that were easy to understand; love – or hate, depending on the role each played in a compelling plot. While this was not my favorite book by Celeste Raye it was still a page-turner which ended in a manner to suggest there might be more from Nabvan and the Milisarians in our future. Although this reader was given an ARC copy of Nabvan to prepare this honest, voluntary review, I plan to purchase a copy of my own to support a very talented writer. I strongly suggest you buy a copy of your own. You’ll be so glad that you did. Happy pages! 😉

This is a different take on humans and aliens in regards to marriage. Alexis along with several other woman are given a chance to start thier lives over by agreeing to marry an alien and on their way to their planet the ship is taken over by Milisaria warriors and forced to mate with the aliens who chose them. Alexis only wish is to study science and research to help find answers but her luck never seems to be in the right place for her. The leader ends up taking Alexis as his and he is one mean and nasty leader. When Alexis refuses him he denys her food and then severely beats her and the only way she survives is with the help of Nabvan who is charged with watching over her. These two share a secret relationship and find happiness and love in one another. Will the leader take what he wants from Alexis or will he find common ground with her giving in to him. Can the choices made by Alexis and Nabvan keep them safe or will outside forces bring them down? I look forward to the next story in this series! I really enjoyed reading this book from Celeste, it’s the story of Alexis and Nabvan. Alexis wants to work for NASA but she is belittled because she is a female that makes her so angry so she joins a mail order bride agency for the Arkani’s but the ship she was on is taken over by the Milisarians. The king takes Alexis for himself but she finds out that he has a Harem so she doesn’t want anything to do with him. The cruel king can’t be told no by any woman so he gets her beaten and starved, but Alexis still doesn’t want no part of it. Nabvan is second in command to the king and he is told to look after Alexis, Nabvan is starting to respect Alexis with everything that she is put through and she still comes out fighting. They eventually have feelings toward each other and Nabvan needs to help Alexis escape. Great read, the storyline and the characters are fantastic and the chemistry between Alexis and Nabvan is extremely hot. I definitely recommend this book it’s well worth the read.

Good story plagued by bad writing

I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC of this book, and this is my independent review. Nabvan is not a tale for the squeamish. It's almost medieval in the level of male chauvinism and violence against women. Alexis, the kidnapped heroine shows great strength of character and purpose in her unwavering insistence that she, and the other human women, be treated with respect and valued for the contributions they can make to their kidnappers' culture. Nabvan starts off as the king's loyal flunky, but Alexis' courage and endurance under torture moves something in him. By the end, he's willing to risk his life and the fate of the kingdom on his love for her, but when she achieves her goals, will she return to him? Fine dramatic tension and good character development are what's best of Nabvan. Stilted and awkward writing undermine the effort considerably. I didn't enjoy wading through the cumbersome prose.

The two main characters are pretty likeable, both have been put into positions neither wants - Nabvan is a warrior and the Kings second in command, given the job of bodyguard/babysitter for Alexis, whom the King has chosen as his future Mate/Queen, something Alexis does not want. However, they end up building a friendship which has them both developing feelings for each other.
This was a well written story with kidnap, cruelty, friendships, forgiveness and love. The story does end rather abruptly but maybe there will be more books to follow.

Alexis is on board a ship with several other women to marry the Arkani when their vessel is attacked and boarded by Milisarian Knights. When king Shene claims her and commands Nabvn to guard her he unknowingly gives them the opportunity to fall in love. If you do not like books where cheating happens then you wont want to read this one, because though Alexia loves Nabvan she belongs to the King. I gave this a low rating because of the cheating, even though Alexia's cheating is kind of hazy in that her body belonged to the King, but if she could choose she would completely belong to Nabvan. But in the end it did work out because they defeated King Shene and got to be together.

I enjoyed Alexis & Nabvan’s story. Alexis is a strong woman who wants to be acknowledged for her abilities, not belittled because she is a woman in a man’s world. Nabvan is second in command on the spaceship that abducts the women who were on their way to another planet as mail order brides. The feelings grow between the two of them when Nabvan is appointed as her keeper. I look forward to reading the next book in this series to see where the author is taking us.

This was a very good read that once I started I was not putting down, the things these women went through .This is Nabvan, a Milisarian knight and Dr. Alexis Fisher a scientist from Earth's story , she is one very strong willed woman. Especially when she is trying to make right a wrong that has been done. Looking forward to reading more of this series. I received an ARC copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

This was a very good book. It was a change of pace for me. It made me think about life outside the universe and this one gave us just the right amount to thunk about. In this story we have human woman going to one planet but get kidnapped by another. But in the process a woman finds love in the most unexpected place and together they try to just survive. Definitely a good book. I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy

Great story about alien/human Roman

This story takes place about several female humans going to another planet to become mail order brides to an alien race.

However, their ship was overtaken by another alien race and the women were forced to mate with their males Warriors. The king was behaving not like the other Warriors having one wife.

The characters are good. The plot has many twists and turns. Descriptive scenario is very Vivid. Recommend this read.

Very Depressing!!!

This was an interesting story and very well written with excellent descriptions but it was just so damn depressing! One bad situation after another, there is a bit of a happy ending but the next book in the series follows the same formula.
If you enjoy a sweet romance with action and some interesting characters, this book is not for you. This book is a darker sad version .

Alexis and Nabvan Become Frenemied

Alexis is on the way to another planet to find a husband and conduct scientific research. She and the other women are kidnapped by Milisaria warriors. Their leader selects her for him. When the Brutish leader beats her for refusing him, her guard, Nabvan, sneaks medical help in so she doesn't die. Alexis and Nabvan have many hurdles to overcome. I enjoyed this story and look forward to more Milisaria warriors stories.

This book was really an out of this world. Alexis was not allowed to work in science on Earth as women were underprivileged. She decided to go Arkani where things would possibly be better as she could work in science. On the way the ship was taken by Milisarian knights. She never made it to Arkani. Alexis was chosen by King Shene as a mate. Nabvan was her guard. This book had ups and downs.

The book was not what I expected. The hero was not alpha enough for me and I actually didn't like the heroine that much. Story was only so so.

I think I would have liked it better if somehow the King would have been the hero and she was his redemption.

Don't think I will go on with this series.

Great read.

Alexis has always wanted to work in space. That's not happening so her last resort is t o be a mail order bride. Her & other woman are on there way when they are captured by the Milisaria Knights. It's their worst nightmare come true. What will happen to them. I enjoyed this book. Will be reading more of this author's books. 6.

For MATURE readers only! Mail order brides in space and their misadventures, mostly the attempts of one bride, in particular, to maintain their human rights when they are abducted by a different set of aliens than the one to whom they were sent.
I read an ARC and this voluntary review is my own opinion.

Nabvan

Alien warrior, found mate and help when times looked bleAk indeed. A despot ruler conned others, and earned with his ego, a total tack of insight as to woes of others. Enter Nabvan, kind, loving, and a warrior willing to fight for his mate.

Was a little disappointed with this book. Too many things going on at one time with no cohesion to other things going on. Hopefully the next book will be better
