Imagine Queen Elizabeth I never ruled. England and Scotland never unified. It's 1845 and the two countries are again at war. The war is over. With peace finally dawning between England and Scotland, the two countries can lay down their arms and face the future. Clara has already sacrificed more than she would have thought possible to secure a brighter future for her country. All she wants is to settle into her new life, but danger still lurks. Murgatroyd remains at large, and Clara is the only person who truly understands the danger he represents. On her own, she cannot stop the devious lord. But reaching into her past to secure help from an old friend threatens everything Clara has gained. To stop Murgatroyd, Clara must make an agonising decision between past and future, at the risk of her life.
Well that was a nice end sort of. I liked how it ended not how I saw it going but at least she got the guy in a way. I liked James and how he tried so hard. I'm also glad that they finally got Murgatroyd. I liked the steampunk aspect although it wasn't through out.,This was a good little series that I'm glad I read. The characters were likeable and the story line was unique.

OMG!!!!!!!!! I just finished I D. I have beside me a huge pile of wet and discarded tissues. I cried so hard I even sobbed. I didn’t see some of the twists and turns this book, and the entire series, took. That gave me more than one gasp and there were enough surprises to keep me entranced and involved enough to cheer as well. Clara’s story is the most beautiful action filled journey and I’ve devoured and enjoyed every word. I loved the ending too, it was so very right. I can’t believe I won’t see Clara again. But I’ll go back and read again from the very start so I don’t forget or lose that pleasure. I know they’re characters in a book but they’re all so loveable. Except Murgatroyd, of course. And don’t get me started on Clara’s world. Wow! If you love Steam Punk or are thinking maybe to have a look you can’t go wrong with this series. Try it!
A superlative conclusion to an absolutely awesome series. I have enjoyed every moment of Clara's adventure filled life and the ending is so good I shed a few happy tears. As I'm sure you can tell I loved reading The Immortality Device. Katy Hayes is an exceptionally talented author and that talent seems to increase with each book she writes . I highly recommend this series to everyone, it is that good.
I read this book by way of Kindle Unlimited, which I adore.
Steampunk, clockworks, airships, war, love and immortality
What could be better than Steampunk, altered history and a little mystery to boot? From the beginning it just draws you into this adventure. From the first book to the last it’s a never ending roller coaster ride. I’ve really enjoyed with Clara.
Brilliant. Not only does it wrap up the series but it does it magnificently. Being a long lost princess is not all it's cracked up to be. There are rules and expectations that she hadn't had to conform to before. Not only that but her soul mate has gone. Is he now truly dead? Married off to seal peace seems a small price to pay when her heart is breaking. However coming back to England has it's own perils when the evil Regent escapes his confinement and kidnaps Nell. Not only that but Gordon suddenly appears too. Now she is not only trapped in a marriage but also has Nell to rescue. Can they get her free? Can she ever find happiness? Great plot that moves along at a fast clip and just when you think all is lost - a twist comes along that throws everything into the air. Terrific read and a wonderful tie up off all the loose ends with characters that you can believe in. I received a free copy for a honest review
