read this on my new blog

Oh Fabio, Why oh why did you decide to write?

The front page says "In Collaboration with Wendy Corsi Straub" so we know Fabio didn't actually write this book, but the best part is that he "wrote" more than just one book!

I can't do this book justice in a review, so I'm posting all my tweets and status updates as a review for you guys. (I saw this review here and had to pick it up when I saw it for a dime)

My review, sort of:

The cover: The bike and leather tells me he's Dangerous, but the hunky Fabio abs tell me he's sexy too

I see nothing but the smoldering look he's giving me..read me, love me, I am Italian studmuffin Fabio

Fabio thinks Fabio has sexy abs. You want to touch Fabio. Come here and run your fingers on Fabio

*yes all that mane of hair that blows in the non-existent wind.

*I think Fabio's manly sexiness was too much and she swooned

*this book is so awful, but soo funny

*No! I haven't met him, but if I ever see Fabio I will talk to him in only third person "Laurie loved Fabio's book. Laurie would like a pic"

*anyone who thinks Fabio actually wrote this is crazy. We all know he stood around looking all Fabio-ish in his open Pirate shirt, showing his man cleavage and wearing leather pants while some poor woman tried to make sense of his words.

*I can't take Fabio seriously, I just can't!

*I'm sad, not once has anyone said "I can't believe it's not butter"

*Fabio thinks Fabio has sexy abs. You want to touch Fabio. Come here and run your fingers on Fabio

*it reminds me of a Saturday night live skit. It's like the book makes fun of Fabio and he's so intense and serious about it!!

*Fabio knows romance-I give the ladies not just 1 but 2 Fabios! because if 1 Fabio is sexy, 2 Fabios are double the sexy

"please, let me make love to you." her reply was a single heated word:"Yes." oh the cheesy Fabioness of it

This was a super fun read. Oh, don't get me wrong the writing was awful, and Fabio's ideas of what passes for a romance novel + romantic suspense plot were just crazy, but it was so fun to read. If you see this one for cheap, pick it up for the tongue-in-cheek entertainment value.

Don't take this book seriously, you will be disappointed.

First of all, I would like to apologize to all authors of books I have rated 3 stars. Your book is miles lightyears better than this one. Ratings of a book do not just go in a line from terrible to terrific, they are in a circle. Sometimes, a book is so bad that it comes all the way around and becomes, well... entertaining (ever watched Troll 2?)

The plot of this book is outrageous and its characters despicable. I spend so much of my time enjoying how ridiculous the male character was that I totally missed the twist at the end. Great fun.

Definitely judge this book by its cover. In fact, the cover is so crazy-awesome that the publisher were considerate enough to put a little picture of the guy on the spine (!), just in case you had misgivings about shelving the book and missing that face.

The guy is Emmett, he exudes sex appeal but is a little too impetuous and irresponsible (he is floating in mid-air with his motorcycle on the cover). His twin brother, Yale, has the same physique but is cultured and no woman in the book can resist his charms. In fact, two of them (his fiancee and mistress) had to have him.

He was everything she had always wanted in a man - daring and passionate in bed, yet urbane and conservative everywhere else.

-BTW the guy always makes passionate love.

The story starts with Lexi having Emmett's baby and the same night, learning that Emmet got killed. Struggling for money, she turns to Yale for help, the very one who broke her heart back when she was in high school. Thanks to this, we get awesome lines such as

She forced her eyes up, away from his clothes, to the face of the man she had grown to loathe.
But it was also the face of the man she'd love, because Yale Bradigan had Emmett's sharply sculpted features...

So the plot in a few words:

What would have made is more enjoyable? I wished the writing was worse. There is a little bit in the middle when the authors actually try to sell a relationship - that part was boring.

And well, it was refreshing to have a too stupid to love male character (Yale). And it is interesting that the only thing Fabio seems to get right is to ask consent before sex.

When I was reading this, I felt as though I was peering into Fabio's soul.
Loved the beginning and the end, especially the bed of roses.
But the middle bothered me a little bit.
It seemed like an endless array of forbidden longing. I wanted to jump in and shake all these people and say, "Listen b!%ch, Yale doesn't love you, so get over it."
Also, not enough sex. And the sex was too romantic and not raunchy enough.
But all in all, there's only one thing that can be said about this book:
Sweet Dreams are made of this. Who am I to disagree.

I don't know that I've ever had such a negative reaction to a book as I did with this one. It's been about 15 years since I read it, yet I still feel annoyed at the time I wasted reading it. I can overlook many flaws if I like the characters, but I didn't like or respect them, especially the stupid heroine. I don't throw books away. If I don't want to keep a book I either donate it or turn it in at the UBS for credit. Except for this one, which I happily stuffed in the trash. Wendy Corsi Staub has some fine books in her backlist. This one, however, is not one of them.

Clearly Fabio did not write this book. I'm giving it 3 *'s because it kept me intrigued. However, there were so many plot flaws and lose ends, in my opinion, that it can't get higher.

I enjoyed Fabio's historical romances more, but I found this book to be entertaining. The characters were really cool and the ending made it all worth while.
