"If this was a story then I’d be the damaged villain and she’d be the innocent princess. Stories like that don’t end well in real life."
CASSIE
I’m determined to leave my mistakes in the past.
These days I’m back in school, I’m surrounded by my wonderful, crazy family and I’m working for my dad.
Then Curtis Mulligan happens.
A supposedly reformed gang member from the rundown prison town where my folks grew up, Curtis looks like he was built for mayhem.
We have nothing in common.
If he hadn’t taken a job working for my father, our paths wouldn’t even cross.
But I can’t admit that menacing mix of ink and muscle has flipped a switch inside of me.
It’s an impulse I’m determined to ignore.
However, when Curtis turns out to be much more than he seems and steps between me and a bad situation, I wind up owing him a hell of a favor.
And I can’t think of anything but paying him back…
CURTIS
I should have been dead a dozen times over but somehow I’m still here.
I’m grateful for the chance to keep my head down and act like a regular citizen. Screwing up isn’t an option and getting naked with the boss’s daughter is no way to thank the man for a job.
Besides, sweet, clueless Cassie Gentry isn’t the kind of girl I’m used to entertaining myself with. I had planned to keep my hands off even if she begged for it.
But that was before I realized Cassie is much more than a pretty face.
She just might be the girl who can turn me around for good...
TURN is a steamy 'opposites attract' story set in the Gentry world from USA Today and NYT Bestselling author Cora Brent. May be read as a stand alone.
I'm a huge fan of insta-love , grunge era flannel, my vintage Kenmore sewing machine, embroidered dishcloths and absolutely everything that has to do with 1980s pop culture (i.e. leg warmers, scrunchies, big hair, early Madonna, boom boxes, wood paneled walls, stonewash jeans, etc).
If you believe in Happily Ever After and improbable love stories, chances are I'll love you too!!
I really liked the blurb and cover for this and while I hadn’t been exactly overwhelmed by the previous book Strike I was looking forward to this one.
When Cassie looks at Curtis she sees a tattooed bad boy who looks tired from partying all night. When Curtis looks at Cassie he sees a beautiful spoilt girl with a perfect life. Both are wrong. While Curtis certainly used to be a bad boy now he’s struggling to keep his brothers together, fed and safe. On the surface Cassie’s life may look perfect but bullying in school made her drop out and become a shadow of her former self.
I liked Curtis, I mean seriously who doesn’t love a reformed bad boy? And I’ll admit I cried at times particularly when Cord and Sayer become aware of how bad things have been.
But.... I know here comes the but. It was slow, really slow and I didn’t buy the whole Cassie thing.
So while I loved Curtis and the whole crazy Gentry family this didn’t work for me because Cassie was an idiot.
Turn takes readers back to the Gentry family with Cassie Gentry. Feeling a little lost in her life she takes a job at her dad's tattoo shop for the summer. Which puts her right in the path of Curtis Mulligan, her dad's new hire and her new fantasy.
Cassie and Curtis had a fun story and I liked that they both kind of underestimated the other. Curtis thinking Cassie was nothing more than her father's spoiler princess, and she thinking Curtis was a rude wanna-be bad boy. It made for an interesting read and kept me captivated the entire time.
They both had a lot going on in their personal life, which I liked getting to learn since it added some extra intrigue to the story. It took the focus off of them as a couple just a little though and I did wish that we got a little more of them together, but I was still happy with their relationship.
I am bwtween 2 and 3 stars for this book but i end up wirh 3 atars. The first 30% of this book is super slow. Building the character of cassie and curtis. Cassie who comes from loving stable family and curtis who comes from broken family. There is a little intereaction between cassie and curtis during this 30%. I became impatient.
Then finally they end up as roommate. Things gets interesting. I like the sweetness from curtis. But i can not warm up toward cassie. She is, in my opinion, weak, spoil, annoying princess even the author tries to portrays her as brave and kind. The story is simple not so much angst or drama. I want to see more tristan though. I hope he can get his own story.

I absolutely love a story with such strong family roots. This is my first Gentry book, and I can't wait to go back and start from the beginning.
Curtis stole my heart from the start—the brother stepping into the parenting role. Gah! Sexy. Hard-working. And he knew when it was time to swallow his pride and accept help. Strong but humble.
The slow burn between Cassie and Curtis left me flying from one page to the next. A heartfelt and sexy story with an outstanding cast of characters. Thank you, Cora!
Authors! PLEASE understand that internal monologues and excessive detail are not what the reader wishes to endure page, after page, after page. I bet I skimmed through 75% of the book trying to get to character dialogue. Ugh! This took too much away from the story for me and made it less enjoyable. For those reasons, I give it 2 stars.
Cora Brent has written another amazing story in the Gentry series. We have Gentry Generations book 2! This is Cassie, Cord and Saylor's daughter and her story. Cassie Gentry has had her life turned upside down in high school due to a terrifying and horrible experience. She is trying to find her way back from that. Then she meets Curtis , who works at Scratch – and where she will work for the summer. Cassie tries to get back out in the land of the living and when she meets Curtis, she is friendly but he thinks she just works there because it is a owned by her family. He looks down on her and isn’t very friendly. Cassie tries to be friendly but gets the cold shoulder so she moves on and ignores him. Curtis has a past that makes him doubt any sort of friendly overtures toward him. He made some poor life choices and he ended up having to leave his town in order to save his younger brothers and himself. He is now working a job to support himself and his younger brothers, praying that his past doesn’t rear up to bite him. He doesn’t know what to make of Cassie but he doesn’t want trouble, just wants to do his job and get paid…. What ends up happening is, he slowly begins to see the kindness and sweetness that flows from Cassie. The push and pull of chemistry between these two leads the journey they take. Can Curtis be the one who saves Cassie when her past comes back to haunt her? I enjoyed this book so much I hated when it came to an end. I enjoyed the fast pace of the story along with the pull between the characters and heat that flairs. Curtis and Cassie make this one great story. Gentrys are one to watch and definitely one to read.
My Rating: 4.5 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."
BIG SIGH...a big romantic and dreamy sigh. I absolutely LOVED every word of this new book from Cora Brent. It makes me sad and weepy to think that those hottie Gentry boys are all grown up and middle-aged with adult children who are living and loving just as hard as they did when I first started reading their stories. Cassie and Curtis seemed like the wrong couple to get together but in my experience it's always the opposites that are the most fun pairings and these two have chemistry off the charts!! I love Cord and Saylor as parents...they still love each other with a passion that will never fade and watching their babies find their own loves is so rewarding. I love everything this author writes and devoured this book like a yummy dessert. Get it and fall in love with Curtis...OMG =)
I had this one on my kindle forever and finally read it and really loved it. Loved curtis's and his brothers. Im hoping we get some resolution for his younger brother. I really enjoyed this one
Another beautiful story from Cora Brent on another Gentry. Cassie and Curtis have their own battles to beat in their life and when the two of them get together they are able to conquer the world. A fantastic read.
Cora always knows how to deliver a great book. Loved this book, I love next generation books. Seeing the Gentry boys again was awesome. But it was Curtis and Cassie that made this book. I totally loved their relationship, their connection was deep.
Love the Gentry family and Turn is another brilliant story. Curtis and Cassie are great characters and this is addictive reading! So good catching up with all the Gentry's. I voluntarily read an advance review copy of this book.
I’m seriously obsessed with the Gentrys!!! Cassie and Curtis were an unlikely pair, but Curtis showed that we was good and Cassie showed that she wasn’t weak. Love seeing Cord as an adult!
As a fan of the Gentry series I couldn't be happier that the author is doing the kids and this book did not disappoint! Love the story, subtle sexiness and so. Much. Angst. As with any good Gentry book <3
Book 89 Turn by Cora Brent No new authors or titles Rating 5/5 Summary: Cassie Gentry is trying to get over her past. The one thing she struggles with is trusting men. She hasnt been on a date in years. Nor, has she meet anyone who has spiked her interest. Until she meets Curtis Mulligan. Hes not exactly polite to her when they first meet, but she still goes out of her way to be nice to him. She thinks she has him all figured out. Bad boy rebell who used to be in a gang. That is far from who Curtis Mulligan is. Both Curtis and Cassie learns that looks and what you hear does not define a person. Once you get to know someone they could be totally diffrent from who you thought they are.
What I thought of it: I liked it so much better than Strike. It was easier to follow and was not confusing. Plus, the emotions behind the book was raw and intense. You were really empathic towards Curtis after you find out his life story. When I first meet him I thought he was a little bit of jerk over a minnor incident. But then you relize he is a strong person who bears so much weight on his shoulders. He is now the gaudian of 2 teenages because their father got killed when he was younger and their mother skiped town so she wouldnt have to go to prision. I can also personally relate to Cassie. I was trusting of guys at one point and I also got taken advatage of because of it. There was a time I did not want a serious relationship because I was afraid of getting hurt. But it takes the right person to really see you. Curtis is the right person for her. They compliment each other really well. I wish the author would of had a bigger plot or intese moment but all in all it was pretty good.
Gentry Boys are some for my all time favs. Reading this story was like going home again. We get to meet Cassie and Curtis. They cracked me up from the beginning with their preconceived ideas of each other especially considering how off they both were.
They both represent FAMILY so well even when dealing with their own missteps. This author knows how to write about young love and always keeps me intrigued. That stays true for this book as well.
Cassie is blessed to be part of the Gentry clan and even with some devastating events in high school still knows she will always have her family and has a good heart.
Curtis amazes me. He completely changed his life, stepping up to the plate to take on his younger brothers. Getting his brothers was probably a saving grace considering his life before.
What a sweet story with some steamy on the side. Also loved getting caught up with some of the original Gentry’s. I can’t wait to see what is in store for the rest of this second generation. Happy Reading!!!
She absolutely knocked it out of the freakin park with the latest book in the Gentry Generations series!!! This is by far my favorite book to date...I loved everything about it. Cassidy (Cassie) Gentry hasn't had an easy past. Her last year of high school was absolutely horrible and it has forever changed who she is. Cassie after learning her job for the summer fell through decided to work for her dad Cord at the tattoo shop. Curtis Mulligan hasn't had it easy his whole life. He left home at an early age to live a life he thought he wanted but all it left him was full of regrets. After some foreseen events...he moves to Arizona where he is raising his 2 younger brothers. They are complete opposites. Cassie is the absolute last thing that Curtis needs but the heart wants what the heart wants and its made it very clear that it wants Cassie. I loved everything about this book and I highly recommend it to all. I can't wait until the next installment of this series....well done!!!
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Turn was another gem in the Gentry saga. I love this family as a whole and I was very excited to see the kids were getting their stories told. This book was just as amazing as the first one. Curtis reminded me of all the things I loved about the Gentry boys when I discovered this series. Cassie is the perfect match for Curtis and reminds me a lot of her mom and the strength she had in her story. Watching Curtis trying to be both parent & brother was heart wrenching and inspiring at the same time. I can't wait to see who is next and what the rest of the clan is geting into.
Okay, so this was definitely not my favorite of the entire Gentry clan. I would venture to say this was my very least favorite.
I’ve never really thought of Cora Brent as a slow burn author, but this was turtle pace burn. And the angst, oh the angst. I really just wanted to say “hurry up and get on with it already!”
Curtis is the proverbial bad boy Cassie is the stereotypical good girl, twin daughter to Cord and Saylor Gentry, with skeletons of her own in the closet. They get off on the wrong foot and really just rub each other the wrong way. They eventually overcome all of that and finally decide to make a go of it.
And herein lies my biggest complaint with this book. They didn’t get together until the last 13% or so of the book. That was it. There was none of the typical relationship stuff. Get together, next chapter she’s basically living with him, she tells him she loves him off page and we just get the recounting of the first time.
In short, I didn’t feel like this was a romance book. This book was more about their struggles outside of the relationship and they just happened to end up together and magically ended up living HEA.
Glad I read it, anxious for the next (hoping for Cadence and Jake), but I won’t be rereading this one.
Curtis Mulligan (the bad boy) is trying his best turn his life around, not only for himself, but his two brothers.
Cassie Gentry (the good girl) is still trying to find her way in life and what she really wants out of that life.
Both Curtis and Cassie have some baggage from their pasts that they are dealing with. They are now both working at Scratch (family owned tattoo business) and get off on the wrong foot and drawing the wrong conclusions on who the other person is.
I liked these two characters, but I wasn’t feeling the “love” they were claiming for each other by the end of the book. To me is more like lust. The bad boy wants the good girl, and the good girl wants the bad boy type relationship. One minute they are just getting to know each other and then BAM, Cassie is living with Curtis and are madly in love.
I am still a little unsure of the whole Parker Neely situation. Why? Why did he come back to Cassie’s life? Was it a bet with old friends? Was he a stalker? Revenge? Ms. Brent left too many unanswered questions for me.
I loved that the Gentry family is still strong and having each other’s back. That is probably the reason I enjoy these books…the strong family unity.
I enjoyed reading Cassie's story and watching her romance with Curtis unfold. Curtis is an ex-convict who grew up in Emblem, AZ, the horrible hometown of Cord (& Saylor), Chase, and Creed Gentry and a place Cassie has grown up fearing and avoiding. Cassie grew up in a family filled with love and security, but made a mistake in high school that has haunted her ever since, changing the course of her life. As a 23 year old, she still lives at home while attending community college. Over the summer, she takes a job as the receptionist at her dad's tattoo parlor where she meets the newest employee - Curtis. The two have a tumultous relationship at first, with each constantly misjudging the other, but they eventually get to know each other and a relationship forms.
It was nice to get to see more of Cord and Saylor in this book than in Strike, and Deck made more frequent appearances as well. I would definitely recommend reading this spin off series after you read the original Gentry Boys books.
I received an advanced copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I absolutely loved Cassie and Curtis's story. I knew that one of Cord's 2 girls would choose a man that would remind us of his love for Saylor. Their hard start and the fact that Curtis is from her dad's hometown. I loved how strong Curtis was and how vulnerable he was at the same time. He was a great mixture of hard and soft. He tried so hard to do what was right for his brothers. Thankfully Deck and Cord were there for guidance along the way.
Cassie cracked me up, she is sarcastic and loveable all within 5 minutes. She is still recovering from being humiliated in high school and still doesn't trust anyone. She is on guard with her heart but always tries to find the good in others.
These two together were hot, their chemistry will make you swoon. Cora gave us a great look at the family and where everyone is and who's story to expect next. I absolutely love how we continue to fall in love with this family.
Cord and Saylor have a twenty something daughter??!! I just read that book a few years ago, is this space aged now? Sigh ok, so Cord and Saylor have 3 daughters, twins Cassie and Camie, and 18yr old Cadence. Cassie meets Emblem bad boy turned big responsible brother Curtis. I hate that name. And then his last name is Mulligan. I expected him to be like Lloyd in Dumb and Dumber, but he’s an ex gang member now working in Cord’s tattoo parlor. The story goes like this, Cassie see’s Curtis, they are physically attracted to each other, but both stubborn. For weeks, they both go to work, ignore each other, go home. Then Curtis lives with Cassie until he moves into his apartment. Then they hook up when Curtis saves Cassie from a guy that tries to date rape her. Rest is history. HEA.
I hate giving such low ratings to a book and I was so looking forward to this story but sadly, for me, it fell short. At almost 60% through the book, the 2 main characters still haven't even had a proper conversation and their only real interaction has been a frenzied sexual encounter in Cassie's back yard! Cassie's character, I found rather childish and rather than this book being about Cassie and Curtis' connection, I found that it was really centred around Curtis and his struggle to try and raise his two younger brothers but the whole thing just came across very angsty which is not my thing at all I'm afraid... I found it hard to stay engaged in the story and lost interest before the end.
Another interestingly tangled story. These Gentry Generation books aren't as dark as their Parents books but it doesn't stop them being gripping, escapist reads!!
Cassie Gentry isn't as wholesome or perfectly untouched by life as she seems. Curtis Mulligan isn't the relentless bad boy partier that the unknowing may assume he is. These misconceptions cause real problems for these two from their 1st meeting. They're closer to being enemies than lovers!!!
This is, at times a sad, worrying & angst filled read but it also has the love of family, compassion, friendship & the start of a bond of friendship that's based in trust that's springs from a hard place!!
Turn is amazing book. A classic bad boy meets good girl romance that is well written and showcases the beautiful romance that blossoms between Cassie Gentry and Curtis Mulligan. These two have great chemistry and it is a true pleasure watching their romance grow from an attraction to so much more. An emotion packed book about trouble pasts, letting go, the love and warmth of family and personal strength. This is another great story that takes place in the Gentry Boys world and I highly recommend it and all the other books Gentry related. I'm posting a voluntary honest review after reading an advance copy of this book.
I love the Gentry family so much! Cora Brent, I am so glad to have read Turn! I'm going to reread all the Gentry books....they're amazing! To me, when I think of the Gentry name, o think of strength! They've each overcome so much on their lives...to read about the brothers and then their children ❤️❤️❤️ the bonds that are shared are simply wonderful to read about. Curtis and Cassie's story was so good...reformed bad boy doesn't want to want the bosses daughter. Can Cassie fight her attraction the the muscle hunk working for her Dad, despite his past? Loved this book! Highly recommend everything Cora Brent writes!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a sweet story. I haven’t read the Gentry series yet but it’s officially on my list! This book was an easy and pretty short read but the love these two found in each other was anything but easy. They always say that opposites attract and when these two come together it’s like watching fireworks. Curtis comes from a troubled past but after some tragic life events, he steps up and turns his life around for his brothers. He doesn’t have an easy road but he is a redeemed bad boy who is oh so hot!! I can’t wait to dive into the other books of this series and learn about these Gentry boys!!
