Who am I? What am I here for? Does anyone love me? Do I have worth?
Adversity can lead to doubt on the deepest compared to others who have it "all together," our lives, with our difficulties, can seem beyond our ability to deal with daily tasks, let alone bigger topics like purpose, love, or faith.
Daniel Ritchie was born facing a unique kind of he was born without arms. Yet after he surrendered his life to Christ as a young man, he learned that only in Christ could true worth and purpose be found-freeing him from others' comparisons and restrictions to live a full life that seemed impossible.
Daniel's story will teach you to tackle life's challenges with grace and creativity-as he shows you how to see your life through Christ's eyes.
First off, this is not my normal read. This book was gifted to me and I wanted to give it a whirl in spite of having no interest in God, religion, etc. I was a little bothered after reading the first chapter which was mostly all-out, repetitive praise for God. I'm putting it mildly and I'm not doing it justice so know that I'm underselling it, for good or for bad.
After the first couple dozen or so pages, the book becomes more about Daniel Ritchie's story. He's had a remarkable life to say the least and the things he's accomplished are amazing. He can do more with his feet than you could ever believe. I enjoyed hearing about his life and journey and there were a few legit funny moments.
I'm not a religious person but that doesn't mean I don't recognize the value that it can have for others. Daniel Ritchie's life has been tough just as it's been inspiring. His beliefs are what got him through the tough times and he seems like a darn happy, upbeat person as a result. I wish him well on his spiritual journey and hope that he will continue to have a positive impact on those that he meets.
The three star review is more for length than content. I would never want to disparage anyone's autobiography or memoirs for who they are or the life that they've led. The book just didn't knock my socks off at a shade over 100 pages.
What a faith builder! I love how Daniel Ritchie keeps the focus on Christ and how we are perfectly and wonderfully made in His image. It is very clear that he has had challenges and thoughtless comments impacted his self-image....especially in his younger years. But much more clear is the message of God’s redeeming love and how He can use us to share the great Gospel news of Jesus. The book is full of scripture, joy and an eternal perspective of life. I am buying this for my kids and hope to have a “book club” this summer when we get together!
Loved it! D-Rich is a great guy, really sweet and sincere and it shows in this book. I was never in his youth group, but our youth group did a lot of joint events with his. (Even hosted the 30 hour famine he mentions late in the book. I remember that night. Pretty sure I got a mild concussion from night time ultimate frisbee.) Any way he's a great guy who wrote a great book, you should check it out!
You should pick up a copy. I am grateful for this friend; his willingness to write and his desire to share Gospel through his life and story. The world needs more of this perspective. #letmeintroduceyou
Recently saw Daniel at an event for our churches pregnancy center. He is a genuine guy with a great outlook on life. This book is a very good look at how to follow Christ amidst anything that comes your way.
Quick read. But powerful. This man is an incredible walking testimony of the love of God. His story and his struggles are very relatable, and his affection for God is contagious.
A wonderful exegesis of the gospel in Daniel’s life. I almost forgot he had no arms, except I’ve had the chance to hear him speak before! The writing is who he genuinely is, and not a facade.
