This book explores all the things that can be done with a sewing machine with regular, zig-zag and some decorative stitches. From heirloom sewing, embroidery techniques, smocking, thread painting, appliqué, the possibilities are all explored. Patterns are included for many of the projects plus instructions to make your own original fabric creations.

Definitely a dated book, some of the projects are SO 80's. Limited information when it comes to acually learning how to do the creative stitchery techniques, but each project focuses on one new creative machine technique. I like the cottage tea cozy project and the portrait pillows are cool looking in a kind of "OMG what is that?" kind of way. Because really, who needs a pillow with a fabric portrait of King Henry or Jane Seymour hanging around the living room?
