J.A. Huss never wanted to be a writer and she still dreams of that elusive career as an astronaut. She originally went to school to become an equine veterinarian but soon figured out they keep horrible hours and decided to go to grad school instead. That Ph.D wasn’t all it was cracked up to be (and she really sucked at the whole scientist thing), so she dropped out and got a M.S. in forensic toxicology just to get the whole thing over with as soon as possible.

After graduation she got a job with the state of Colorado as their one and only hog farm inspector and spent her days wandering the Eastern Plains shooting the shit with farmers. After a few years of that, she got bored. And since she was a homeschool mom and actually does love science, she decided to write science textbooks and make online classes for other homeschool moms. She wrote more than two hundred of those workbooks and was the number one publisher at the online homeschool store many times, but eventually she covered every science topic she could think of and ran out of shit to say.

So in 2012 she decided to write fiction instead. That year she released her first three books and started a career that would make her a New York Times bestseller and land her on the USA Today Bestseller’s List eighteen times in the next three years. Her books have sold millions of copies all over the world, the audio version of her semi-autobiographical book, Eighteen, was nominated for a Voice Arts Award and an Audie award in 2016 and 2017 respectively, her audiobook Mr. Perfect was nominated for a Voice Arts Award in 2017, and her book, Taking Turns, was nominated for an Audie Award in 2018. Johnathan McClain is her first (and only) writing partner and even though they are worlds apart in just about every way imaginable, it works.

She lives on a ranch in Central Colorado with her family.

Suspense and Mystery, Pleasure and Panic!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💋💋💋💋💋
Heat/Steam: 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎🌍
Character development: 👱🏻‍♀️🧔🏻‍👩🏻👱🏻‍♂️👩🏻‍🦱

The heroine: Issy Grey - she owns a women’s empowerment company where she trains women to stand up for themselves. She does public speaking engagements and is a 7th degree black belt in jiu-jitsu and has a history which made her who she is today.

The Hero(es): Finn Murphy - an FBI agent who was corrupt in the past but has a second chance. He killed his father who was also a corrupt agent and feels a lot of guilt for that and the things he has done in his past.

The Story: Issy meets Jordan through her friend Chelle and is introduced to Jordan’s games. Chelle thinks Issy would like a game surrounding the pleasure of panic, but Issy’s fantasy is more about doing something like a scene in a sex club where other people are watching. When Issy’s business is called in as a tip to the FBI and a bunch of C4 is found on the premises. Issy thinks it is all part of the game.

This book was really good and you never know what it going on or whether any of it is part of a game or if it is all real. I liked how Finn was a good character who has also been bad in the past. He was dominant and sexy but also had this other side to him. And Issy was so strong, but also vulnerable and I thought it was great how she could kick butt and take names whether it be an FBI agent or a Mafia boss.

The narration was terrific! Aiden Snow and Savannah Peachwood were perfect for Finn and Issy. Teddy Hamilton again played the part of Jordan as he did in the first book and he has just the right amount of snark and arrogance in his tone to be perfect as Jordan, the game mastermind.

I'm not sure what just happened, but I loved it. This author never fails to take me for a ride that has me constantly guessing where it's going. I'm kind of addicted to it. I think it's rare to find books that you can't predict what's going to happen and it gives me kind of a rush.

I found it hilarious that Chella keeps popping up in this series stirring the pot. The fact that she signed up her best friend for one of Jordan's games was bold. Poor Issy, she gets turned down for the game...but then did she? I'm still not even sure.

This game, if it was a game, was more serious. It started out pretty funny. I was laughing a lot and enjoying these crazy characters. Then it turned into some heavy shit. All I know is that Issy is pretty kickass. I want to grow up to be her.

Finn. Poor Finn. He learns real quick things aren't what they seem. I haven't quite figured out if he got played or if he was just that good at playing.

What is the game, you ask? Well, Jordan is the mastermind behind all games. He sets up people to reach their sexual fantasy but that's not all. He's almost like a fixer. While he gets people to jump out of their comfort zone, he also gets them past what keeps holding them back in life.

I can't wait until the game gets turned back on Jordan. I'm pretty sure his book is going to be epic. But I do hope the author brings us a couple books before that happens. I need Lawton's story and definitely Darrel's story.

Loved this one, this series is turning into one of my favourites from JA Huss!

In this instalment of 'Jordan's Game' we meet Issy Grey a Jujitsu champion who teaches women how to self-defend and gain confidence through self-empowerment classes. Without realising it, she soon becomes embroiled in an FBI investigation, where she is assigned to Agent Finn Murphy.

Trouble is, she doesn't know if she is part of a game or whether or not to trust her sexy bodyguard.

Huge chemistry between Issy and Finn, lots of twists and turns - a very fast paced and enjoyable read.

Thank you to JA Huss for this advanced copy

Where to start, where to start...

You guys, this one isn’t as twisty as some of JA’s prior stuff, but man – it was a thrilling ride! And before I get into this whole review, let me just note that the pace of this story is just as much of a character as Issy and Finn were.

TPOP 5 copy

I can’t really say it was a slow burn, because once you’re in the game – YOU. ARE. IN. THE. GAME. But the whole story sort of felt like once you hit the sweet spot, where you’d finally get the pieces, like shit just went full steam ahead. It was a rush, a race to the finish.

Both characters have fractured pasts, and while Issy is all about escaping hers and reinventing herself, Finn has sort of been stuck on pause. When the idea of a game comes into play, Issy is reluctant, and in the end isn’t even sure if she’s in the midst of one – or if her life is just spinning out of control.

TPOP 3 copy

Utter chaos.

TPOP 1 copy

Panic. And pleasure.

TPOP 2 copy

The Pleasure of Panic is the second book in the Jordan’s Game series and although I’ve gotten to know Jordan though the first two books in this series and in his role during the Turning Series, he is still an utter mystery. I still can’t trust him. I tried really hard. I thought I was nearly there – but that was blown to hell with this book. I really can’t wait for it all to come to a head and to finally get his story – I just know that it will blow me away.

The first thought I had after finishing this book about three hours ago was: WTF DID I JUST READ. Three hours later and I still have no clue. I just know that I loved every second of it.

TPOP 4 copy

I loved that Issy was a pint-size spitfire. I loved that Finn was this screwed up guy, with questionable morals, and that with so much going wrong in his life, he clings to the bit of pleasure he finds with Issy. I love that he was team Issy from the start. She was lovable and you instantly were cheering her on.

JA Huss masterfully weaves a story that leaves you guessing. A game within a game, within a game. But just who are the players, and who is truly playing who?

Whilst this wasn't quite a 4-star read it WAS more than a 3-star one, so I'm rounding up on that basis alone. My experience with this author has been very hit-and-miss, but I've owned this book for a loooong time and picked it as part of a TBR challenge of "Flirting With Danger".

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by how readable I found this book. Once I let go of the ridiculously unbelievable idea that Jordan (a lawyer who only appears briefly in the book) can manipulate the FBI, politicians and the mob as well as drag unsuspecting players into his game and somehow manage to predict/control/indirectly manipulate them and circumstances perfectly to fit his whim, then I really enjoyed this one.

TPoP is fast-paced and incredibly steamy with two main protagonists who I couldn't help but adore. The majority of the story takes place over 2 or 3 days, so it's all very insta-love. Despite that usually being somewhat of a trigger for me I found I didn't mind it in this one. This is a good blend of erotic romance with romantic suspense, a solid read that I would recommend to others.

The Pleasure of Panic was a wild, twisted ride in which it was close to impossible to figure out what was real and what was not!

Review - (un)Conventional Bookviews
Story:
At the beginning of The Pleasure of Panic, I got so incredibly angry at Jordan on Issy's behalf! He really acted like an arse, because she didn't really want to play the game with him. But when she finally dared to tell him what she might want - if she decided to play - he told her that wouldn't do, and that there would be no game for her.

From there on, The Pleasure of Panic was an incredibly fast-paced, action-filled adventure. And I have to say that trust is what was the most difficult to come by. Issy changed her mind about Finn many times - and I think I managed to change my mind even more than she did! Hiding parts of the truth, not being totally open, but still always just there, he managed to keep the mystery alive. Even when at times it was unintended.

The Pleasure of Panic kept me at the edge of my seat, especially when the proverbial shit hit the fan! There was a lot going on over just a few days. Issy, especially, proved that she was a very strong person. Even when she wanted to run, she was able to fight for herself, and it was amazing!
Characters:
Issy was the kind of take-charge character I just love to read about. She'd sure had a hard life, but she turned it all around by creating Go F*ck Yourself - a self-help course to help women get their lives back on track.

Finn was difficult to get to know - and frankly, I'm still not sure if he's good or if he's bad, or if he's just a little bit (or a lot) of both...

Jordan is still mysterious, and quite removed from the other characters. He acted like a jackass in The Pleasure of Panic, and I can't wait to see what Huss has hidden to make me like him.

Chella was as sweet as ever, even if she didn't have a big role in this story.
Writing style :
The Pleasure of Panic is written in first person point of view, mostly in present tense. There are chapters from both Issy's and Finn's perspective, and even a couple from Jordan's. The quick dialogues brought glimpses into other characters' mindset, and they also brought some comic relief at times.
Feels :
I felt the confusion, the excitement, the fear, the anger, the anguish, the tenderness... All the feels for The Pleasure of Panic!

Fave Quotes - (un)Conventional Bookviews

"You too, Finn. Have a nice Valentine's Day." I stop, look over my shoulder at her as I reach for the door handle. "What?"
She's smiling back at me. Cute girl, especially in her pink Cookie's Diner waitress uniform. Kinda short and tiny. Red hair - a little bit wavy - and blue eyes. "You didn't even know, did you?"
I shake my head. "So glad I gave up on you ages ago. You'd just break my heart, Finn."

After, I wash her hair as she washes mine. It's weird. She's a stranger, yet she feels like she's always been in my life. Like this is just what we do.

I think i expected these books in the 'Jordan's Game' series to be mostly or at least half erotic/kinky. Jordan organises sex games right? So they're called 'Jordan's GAME'. But the books aren't based on fantasies, or kink, or sex. They're more situation based.

The Pleasure of Panic was too complicated for me. The story left you dangling on revealing secrets and information until the very end. I do like how all the books tie with her other series', but when you haven't got a good memory like me, all the information and names can leave yourself confused. Even more so when the characters are talking in circles.

I love Huss' character names, they're always unique characters too. I am enjoying the series despite my reservations.

God, there's just something fucking magical about the words Julie strings together. Just. Fucking. Magical.
"Take it any way you want. I'm just letting you know there's no point to pleasure without a little panic.

We know Jordan Wells is playing with people. We got that in His Turn. We got that in Total Exposure. But Jesus fuck. He's his own brand of fucking crazy. And I don't mean that in a bad way. He does some pretty impressive shit in this book--and he does it with his clothes on! I know, I'm just as disappointed about that as you are, but I'm learning there's a method to his madness. A certain evil, twisted, genius kind of madness.
"The kind of sexual ride I like to take comes with a dark underbelly. I like to lose control a little. I like to walk the edge.

This isn't Jordan's story. I know you probably want it just as badly as I do, but I have to trust that JA Huss knows her shit and won't disappoint when we get there. Plus, let's be honest, these books that just give us glimpses of Jordan Wells is like the best type of foreplay. I can only imagine he's going to blow my mind.
We stare into each other's eyes. But we're really seeing our souls as they consider the possibility of mixing together.

Anyway. Not Jordan's story. This is the story of Issy Grey and Finn Murphy. And the game they are playing. Or not playing. I honestly had no fucking clue what was happening--and not because the story isn't clear, because it is, but because I didn't know if there was a game being played! How, in a series called Jordan's game, can I believe the game isn't happening?! Tell me!
"I'm trying to have my sex fantasy, which, by the way, isn't going very well."
"I'm not in the game!"
"Well, you were playing along."
"Because you were practically throwing yourself at me."
"Oh!"
"And I'm a fucking guy!"

But really, it's just a game, right?

"Because pleasure is what you want in the beginning, but satisfaction is what you get in the end."

I loved this book!!!!! I know it's only book two in the series but it's my favorite of the two.

I don't know that Huss meant for this book to be funny but she had me laughing out loud a few times. I loved the chemistry between Finn and Issy. It was so perfectly written. It's like they were meant to be together. Maybe Jordan knows what he's doing. LOL! Nobody leaves you second guessing your thoughts the way JA Huss does. And she is so sneaky at leaving things open for later and leaving us begging for more. This is definitely a game you don't want to miss.

This book was included with Audible premium catalog so I figured I'd give it a listen.

The narration was good, the story not so much. The idea of the story is good, but the execution is lacking. It almost seems like a rough draft of the story line and now it's time to go back and add the details and character to it. I don't know, it was just seriously lacking.

If I wasn't listening to the book while working I probably wouldn't have finished it, but because I was only half paying attention by the end it was okay.

Every time I pick up a read by J.A. Huss, I know it is going to be one hell of a mind trip, and The Pleasure of Panic was just that and more! It was a whirl wind romance, that developed with danger building all around them. Issy and Finn both had demons in their past, that seemed to resurface after they met, which they both needed to face, together. It certainly was a fast paced read that kept me on the edge of my seat!

After Issy's meeting with Jordan, I was left dumb struck... He basically brushed her off, but why? Was Issy in this game or not? However, as things began to happen, I kept asking that question as Issy's well constructed world was tumbling down around her. As for Finn and his chaotic past, it looked as though it had caught up to him as well, and as their world's collided they had to work together and learn to trust a stranger, just to make it out alive.

I loved how strong and determined Issy was and she sure showed Finn that she could handle herself! I was seriously in stitches as she showed Finn exactly how ruthless she could be! I loved seeing Issy and Finn together as they Finn had great chemistry. Although they both had different reasons, they were more than happy to explore that growing connection between them, and boy was it hot!

After reading The Pleasure of Panic, I know I need to go back and read the first book, Total Exposure (which I now have). I'm wondering if these are a lot of little games, or whether they are all part of one grand master plan! Jordan is still a bit of a mystery to ma and I'm keen to see more of him, and to find out where Huss is going with this mind bending series!

❝ ...pleasure is what you want in the beginning, but satisfaction is what you get at the end.❞

The Pleasure of Panic was a bit different than the previous books in this series, but still an enjoyable read. While the previous installments had a touch of darkness to this, this book was a lot lighter and even had some moments of humor. Issy and Finn meet and at first there's a misunderstanding because Issy is under the impression that her meeting Finn is all part of "the game", but as the story continues she realizes that it's not actually a game. The romance is definitely insta-lust because these two basically catch feelings for one another in a span of a day, but I really didn't have a problem with it. I thought they were adorable together and they balance each other out. Issy and Finn are definitely my favorite couple so far in this series.

The ending totally threw me for a loop! LIKE HOLY SHIT, I DIDN'T SEE ANY OF THAT COMING! I liked how this book connected back to the first book in the Turning series and karma came for these assholes that did Issy wrong. I'm so ready to see what Jordan has in store for our next players and I can't wait to see where this series goes next.

Can you name the twistiest road on Earth? It’s the path J.A. Huss takes her readers down in her latest novel, The Pleasure of Panic. This is the second book in author J.A. Huss’ Jordan’s Game Series of standalone novels. Jordon Wells is the master manipulator when it comes to fulfilling his clients’ fantasies, but in this latest game, it’s not clear how or if he is involved, let alone the identity of his client.

Ms. Huss is known for her twisted romantic suspense stories, and she has outdone herself on the twistedness of The Pleasure of Panic. From the first page to the last, this book is action packed and emotionally charged. Both the main characters, Issy Grey and Finnegan Murphy, have secrets. Both of them have ugly pasts. Neither of them signed up to play a game, but they seem to be the pawns in someone’s master chess match.

Issy Grey is a classic J.A. Huss heroine. She is pretty, petite, and harbors some deep hurt that makes her empathetic and seemingly vulnerable. But this woman is anything but vulnerable. She is a walking, talking spokesperson for owning your future and taking back your life. Her constant use of Zig Ziglar quotes put a smile on my face. Her master martial skills and empowerment filled me with awe. If ever there was a character who is the embodiment of Boudica (Celtic female warrior), it is Issy Grey!

Finnegan Murphy, a somewhat stereotypical son in a family of Irish cops; however, Finn has a conscience, which {naturally} creates a bit of a problem on his career path with the FBI. Although he does come off as someone who Issy shouldn’t trust, there is just something about him that made both Issy and me fall for him.

Brava J.A. Huss for creating female characters who are strong and essentially rescue themselves, and attract adorable, strong men. The Pleasure of Panic expertly weaves in several plot points/characters from prior J.A. Huss books in a way that will not leave new readers lost. Ms. Huss writes page-turner books with highly empathetic characters, nasty antagonists, and the best endings.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. For more reading recommendations, visit Book Junkie Reviews at https://abookjunkiereviews.wordpress.com.

Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! The Pleasure of Panic is the second book in Jordan’s Games series. If you are a JA Huss fan you know Jordon Wells from The Turning series and the first book in the series Total Exposure . Jordan’s Games is a little like Fantasy Island for the kinky sex lovers. However, the players don’t get on a plane to get to the island. In fact, they rarely know they are even on an island. The players are dropped into the game at Jordan’s whim.

In The Pleasure of Panic , Issy wants to play a game, but Jordan declines her request…or does he? Shortly after Jordan walks away from Issy, she is pulled into her past. A past that she thought she walked away from but it is back hitting her in the gut. I love Issy. She is so determined to teach other women how to rise above their pasts and coaching them about moving forward with life. She has a black belt in Jujitsu. As a motivational speaker for her own company, Go F**K Yourself where she teaches her students everything she knows.

Like the first book in the series, The Pleasure of Panic is told in the alternating points of view of the main characters with a few chapters told from Jordan’s point of view. Everyone has secrets. They share a little but not the whole truth. In fact, they don’t want to get out. Surprise! Secrets are revealed, and they aren’t what I expected. Their secrets are dangerous and add more interest to these characters as they unfold.

The Pleasure of Panic held me captive from the start. I love Julie’s women. Issy is so strong, a little flawed, and ready to fight. She “takes sad and desperate women and turns that into hope.” Special Agent Finn Murphy is swoon-worthy. He is only doing his job…or is he? Is he playing Issy’s game or is he playing a different game? It is hard to figure out. I will say Jordan Wells is a master game facilitator, and his partner is a fascinating guy.

One of my favorite things about Julie’s books is she always brings back characters from the past. I love that we learn a little more about Jordan, even though I think he is more of a mystery after each book. I highly recommend The Pleasure of Panic. It works as a standalone novel. However, I must warn you, if you read this without any of the other books, you will need to know more about the ever-elusive Jordan Wells. I can’t wait for his book, but in the meantime, I do love his games. Another big plus about Julie's books is that I know she will have an audio book shortly with a great narrator.

I have to say, I'm torn about this review. One one hand after seeing the cover and reading the blurb, I was expecting a quick and dirty erotic read. You know, one that wouldn't be appropriate for my blog. I was expecting to write a short little review saying that the steamy bits were top notch and move on.

Guess I should have read other reviews before starting this one.

This is a book I could see a lot of people liking. It had action, suspense, and tastefully explicit steamy bits.

This book had me sitting on the edge of my seat needing to know what was happening. I couldn't put it down, every page I turned I had to know what was going to happen next. That's great and all but it's not what I had in mind when I picked it up.

So do I give it a bad rating because it wasn't what I expected or a good rating because it was a genuinely good non-erotic romance?

After careful deliberation I decided to give this book all the stars because it was a well-written romantic suspense, something that is very hard to find.

The one thing I absolutely love when reading a book by JA Huss is the clear picture she paints that allows you to get pulled into the scenes and lost in the words. Her writing is descriptive and magical. The plot is fast-paced and full of suspense. She has you guessing until the very end.
Savannah Peachwood was fantastic as always and I highly enjoyed Aiden Snow’s performance as Detective Fin Murphy. He was HOT!!
Teddy Hamilton was Jordan and had a smaller role which I can’t wait to hear more of in the next installment.
Sexy, thrilling, and a rollercoaster ride of emotions!!

Every time I read a book by J.A. Huss I am amazed by her words. She is an amazing writer and her words draw you in with their journey. In The Pleasure of Panic, the second in the Jordan’s Game series, the games continue. Jordan is at it again, or is he? And though we have seen him in many books previously, there is so much we still do not about him. But I digress, this is not Jordan’s book.

This time around we get Issy Grey and Finnegan Murphy. Both are harboring secrets and troubled pasts. Now they are finding themselves in a game they never intended to be a part off. Issy may be petite, but she is strong and determined. Finn is struggling with changes in his life when he is assigned a new case. They have great chemistry even as they are not sure what is going on around them.

Who can you trust? What I have always loved about J.A. Huss is her ability to take her readers on unexpected journeys with twists and surprises at every turn. In true J.A. fashion, we get some answers, but are left with others. I am so excited about the next book!

I liked the story but i was also confused by it lol. I didn't quite expected this much action and suspense but yeah this surprised me.
I was a bit lost sometimes because i didn't understood some things probably related to other books so it was kinda annoying but still ok.
What i really liked though is not knowing if it was a game or which game it was !
I would've liked a bit more of Issy and Finn at the end and a bit of extended explanations ...

This book definitely kept me guessing. I thought I knew what game Jordan was playing but I had no idea until the very end. And while Finn plays the "hero" in this book he's got a dark side that we haven't seen in many of J.A. Huss' heroes. I loved how everything got pulled together in the end and I can't wait to see what Jordan has in store for the next book.

I need Issy's class!!!!

In typical JA Huss fashion she has done it again! Issy and Finn meet by chance but don't stand a chance against each other. When something is meant to be, it's meant to be. If it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen. And we all have a purpose, we just don't know what that purpose is until we find it.

I love every JA Huss book I've read and The Pleasure of Panic is no exception. It is brilliantly written, great characters, and a unique plot. The story is captivating. A lot of the excitement is that I know Ms. Huss is going to take me down a path I don't expect. This book is quite a ride to the thrilling end--well actually the cliffhanger that makes me anxious for the next book.

This is such an addictive nonstop listen 🎧
The pleasure of panic for Issy Gray is something she looked forward to, but not everything goes as planned! Through all of the confusion and drama she is not sure what is real!
Suspense, mystery and hot sex scenes making this such a great storyline with situations unexpected and interesting.
I didn’t know who to believe, but I was rooting for Issy and Phinn ❤️🔥
I swooned over Aiden Snow sexy delicious voice! And Savannah Peachwood is the perfect Issy. The secondary characters enriched the book and the ending was such an unexpected surprise. I love happily ever afters and JA Huss never disappoints.

I read the first book of this series and it was ok but not the best. This book however was horrible and I never write reviews like this but when it’s bad it’s really atrocious.

The sex game that really isn’t is what this book is about. The female lead keeps insisting what she is living is part of a sex game and her stupidity really drags you down making you hate the book more and more.

The characters, even the main male and female leads, are barely even likable. Poor character development and the need for what happened in the story to be described more than once makes you want to tear your fingernails out!

It’s ok to skip this book!

“...there’s no point to pleasure without a little panic.”

Reading The Pleasure of Panic was absolutely one heck of a thrill. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of the suspenseful mind games that J. A. Huss concocts and dishes out for us. Every single one of them never ceases to leave me speechless and dumbfounded—just like this one. The twists and turns, the anticipation of what will happen next and trying to figure out how certain things fit into the story certainly kept me on my toes from start to finish. All of it—every detail—was just carefully constructed and brilliantly executed.

I want to believe that the pleasure of living comes from the panic you endure when you change your life from one thing into another.

Issy Grey is a dream heroine. She had a nightmare of a past, but she dug her way out of it and made it her life’s mission to turn all of that around. To live a better life and even share the inner strength she found with others. It was truly inspiring and it’s just fitting that she’s a life coach and owns the store, Go F*ck Yourself. Oh, and you wouldn’t want to find yourself on the bad side of Issy either, because this chick? She’s a jujitsu master. She can take down a man twice her size. So if you want your bones intact and your face not to be rearranged, better stay on her good side. She’s just that bad ass.

I don’t know how I could possibly get any closer to him. But I do. My head bumps against his, our eyes so close our souls touch.

Finn Murphy may be a special agent of the FBI, but you wouldn’t be quick to trust him. There’s so much he was hiding, but he was so charming that there’s no chance you wouldn’t fall under his spell eventually. He had his secrets... His record wasn’t completely squeaky clean... But when everything came out in the open, when you see just how much he worshipped the ground Issy walked on and did everything to protect her, you’d see this man in a whole other light. When their tale finally comes full circle, you’d realize you were already head over heels for him all along. And I truly loved that.

I haven’t even known her a day. And it feels like a lifetime…

I dug Issy and Finn’s story. Once I got into it, I just couldn’t stop reading. I found myself flipping the pages like a mad woman, constantly wanting to get to know more... to make sense of what’s really going on and get to the bottom of everything. It’s an addiction like no other. And it’s all of that that just made their chemistry and sexual tension like the cherry on top of an already decadent sundae.

She’s a stranger, yet she feels like she’s always been in my life. Like this is just what we do. Like this is how it’s always been and always will be.

The Pleasure of Panic was an incredibly mind-blowing, intriguing, thrilling and steamy romance with twists and secrets and deceptions that seemed endless, and a hint of humor and sweetness that was just perfectly right. These books in the Jordan’s Game series just keeps getting better and knowing more about them is nothing short of compelling. The games will drive you to the point of insanity, but they’re so clever and impressive that you’ll just want more and more. At this point, you wouldn’t really know who’s playing or getting played anymore. Anyone’s basically fair game—even the master of it all, Jordan Wells. And it’s only getting bigger, more complex and honestly, more beautiful as we go on.

These people are dark.
These people are diabolical.
These people are keepers.

This book was quite a trip! I kind of don't even know where to start this review. J.A. Huss is certainly a master at taking her readers on a journey where they are in a constant state of flux, not knowing what's really happening at any given moment. And that's exactly what happens to Issy Grey in this story. Her friend Chella talks her into meeting with Jordan Wells, the "game master" who takes a woman's deepest fantasy and creates a game to make it come true.

Issy Grey is a kickass heroine. Running a company called Go F*ck Yourself, she empowers women to become whatever they want to be, and teaches them self defense at the same time. She is a control freak, but sometimes that becomes SO tiring and she just wants to be able to let go a little, if only for one night. She meets with Jordan Wells and tells him what her ultimate fantasy is, but he ends up turning her down.

From that point on, this whole story is a guessing game of what is really happening. Suddenly the FBI are all up in Issy's face, but are the things they're telling her is happening really happening? Or is this all a game? But Jordan turned her down, so who is behind the chaos that has suddenly taken over her life? Is it the agent who has been tasked to keep her safe?

Special Agent Finn Murphy has relocated to Denver from DC after an "incident" he was involved in. Now he's just going through the motions each day. Until his boss assigns him to watch over Issy Grey. Not that she needs the protection, as he comes to realize after she takes him down in like, 2 ninja Jujitsu moves that leaves him flat on the ground, gasping for breath.

Neither Issy or Finn actually know what's going on. Finn because he wasn't paying attention when his boss gave him the assignment, and Issy because she believes that "someone" has orchestrated this whole situation she finds herself in.

I have to admit, I had no clue the entire time I was reading as to what the hell was really going on. I just had to keep reading to see if I could glean any clues as to who was behind everything that was going on. Both Issy and Finn have huge secrets in their pasts that they try to keep buried, but inevitably it all has to come out, if they want any chance of coming out of this alive. Add to this the instant chemistry and attraction these two have. Together, they could be a force to be reckoned with, if they can just get to a place where they trust each other.

You don't need to have complete trust to enjoy some really good sex though, and boy do these two have some pretty steamy sexy times!! I think the not trusting factor actually played into making the sex even better, since Issy is convinced all the way through that this is all just part of "the game" even though she doesn't know who is running it. And Finn, being a man, knows she's convinced this is all just a game, but hey, who is he to argue with her?

I am always amazed at how Julie interweaves SO many things and connects them in surprising ways. Even though Issy and Finn have never met before, their pasts are intertwined in a way they never would have imagined. And when this connection comes to light, the suspense and action really ramped up! And little ninja jujitsu Issy was kick ass!! I was rooting for her so hard!!

By the end of the story, I still had no clue who was orchestrating everything that had happened. A couple of revelations occur that left me shocked. All I know for sure is, it didn't matter who was behind it all, Julie IS the ultimate game maker! I don't know how she comes up with these stories! And after reading the epilogue that sets us up for the next book, I can't wait for that one to be released!

Where to begin..where to begin. Be prepared for a roller coaster ride full of crazy twists and turns. It takes you all over the damn place.

Lets start with Jordon. This sexy SOB thinks he is GOD. His games are outrageous. You will love to hate him. Cant wait for his story.

Issy is my damn hero. She is that empowering female we all strive to be and she can literally kick a$$. She is looking for something different and in the matter of two days her world is turned upside down.

Finn sexy Irish FBI agent. You really dont know his story at all. Is he MOB.. Is he part of the game... Is he team Issy?? Ahhh like I said roller coaster.

Darrel he is not in this book much but when he says, "Im the goddammed fout horseman all wrapped up into one well-dressed ex-FBI-agent who takes down untouchable people as a hobby." I needed to fan myself.

Amazingly brillant as always!!

I don’t know what I just read. Maybe I didn’t read it and just dreamt everything that happened in this book. Maybe that’s why I’m still sitting here wondering wth did I just read?!?!

Jordan is one twisted motherfucker. Seriously. He is fucked up in the head. That’s even if he set this game up. He’s still twisted regardless but I love it!!

There’s this girl named Issy and this guy named Finn. Issy is strong, independent and a role model for every woman that needs guidance. Finn is bored. He’s complacent, kind, sweet and nothing like I thought. You put these two together and you get fire! Hot, sexy, passionate explosive fire.

I know my review seems vague. I done that on purpose. This book will fuck with your mind. I’m not sure I can even move on after this. How am I supposed to with an ending like that?!?!

J.A. Huss did it again. She exceeded all my expectations and left me questioning everything. The game. The players. What was real and what wasn’t. When you find a book that blows your mind away and by an author who doesn’t apologize for anything she’s written then and only then you say GREAT. FUCKING. JOB.

Intrigued from the get go, this read had all the tell-tale “hang on to your tits, this shit’s gonna flip you on your head later” plot weaving we’ve come to expect (and a few surprises too - Jayyysus, I love Smith.)
Loved the chemistry between Issy & Finn and a couple of times I was just as confused as they were as to which (if any??) strings Jordan was pulling.
While their “game” wasn’t as “mind-fucky” as Ix & Evie’s in Total Exposure, you still need to hang on for the ride and as for the last 20ish% of the book...
HO-LEE-SHHH!!!!
AND I just KNOW little clues are being dropped in these games that will come back with a bang within the final book, Jordan’s.
