This was a great informational read on how New Deal policies impacted Florida Seminoles. It was very heavy on accounting how money was spent and changes in Federal Indian agents, and very light on the actual day to day life of being a Florida Seminole during the Great Depression.
This book is 4 or 5 stars in terms of research, however I have it 3 because I wanted a bit more of a narrative and personal connections. That was not the fault of the book, as it is an academic research book, but it made it a bit of a slog to read so many accounts of how the budget changed but I didn’t have a clear picture on how that affected tribal life.
I would recommend this book to researchers or anyone interested in how government policies are enacted.
