Finding a Hart

Rate this book
One night changes everything for three people, whether they know it or not. Stephanie Gibson is a nurturer. Growing up the oldest of four ingrained that into her personality early on. She'll do anything she can for anyone whether it's in her personal life or her career. So when she finds the most precious item in a pile of garbage one winter night, it doesn't surprise anyone when she jumps in to help. Jared Hart has worked hard to get to where he is in his career with great sacrifice to his own personal life. The idea of having a family is something he has pushed to the back of his mind. So when the news comes that his life has changed in the blink of an eye, he's glad to find support in the form of a gorgeous social worker. Two lives instantly changed one cold evening. Stephanie and Jared will try to figure out how to balance friendship, diaper changes, professionalism, late-night feedings, exes, and attraction without letting their carefully constructed house of cards come tumbling to the ground.(This book is a standalone novel but characters from Summer by the Lake do make an appearance. It is not necessary to have read Summer by the Lake before reading Finding a Hart .)

Kay Gordon is a married, mother of two living near the west coast. She spends her days teaching young, impressionable minds in public school and evenings typing away furiously once her children are in bed. She loves to take her characters on a journey, making that happy ending even better!
Her favorite genre to read is Contemporary Romance but won’t hesitate to try anything with promise. One of her favorite past times is to read the book and then go see the movie while forcing her husband to listen to her point out all of the differences in real time. She’s still not over what Harry did to the Elder Wand in DH2.
When she's not teaching or writing, Kay loves to spend time with her family and friends, although she doesn’t ever say no to a good nap. She’s an avid lover of hockey and can be seen cheering for her beloved Nashville Predators- no matter how much they frustrate her.

Kay always welcomes feedback and comments (or even just a healthy argument about why Backstreet Boys are better than *Nsync) so please don't hesitate to reach out!

4,5 stars. Honestly, had no idea what this one was going to be like since it had such few reviews. But I really liked it. Really loved the connection between Jared and Stephanie. Although they were strongly attracted to one another, they built a strong relationship of friendship and admiration of one another before ever becoming lovers. That progression is often missing in so many of these romance books, and while it can become boring to wait for the H and h to finally take that step (slow-burn romance), if done right, it can also become a joyful journey to read about. And that's what I felt like it was here in this story. Additionally, this had one of the best epilogues I have read in a very long time. Brought me to tears. Great story--really enjoyed reading it.

There’s beautiful chemistry in this book, a sweet love story with a baby and tons of adorable moments. Vanilla Latte and City Roast fall in love and snag you from the beginning. For that romance I’d give it 5 stars.

For the plot-is drop it a bit. While there’s intrigue and certainly not a dull moment in the book-at times I feel that the constant drama and action takes away a bit of the sweetness of Stephanie and Jared’s relationship. It’s not enough to make me dislike the book though. Part of me just wishes it wasn’t quite so exciting as watching Steph, Jared and the baby become a family really was worth reading by itself.

I don't know what I expected when I started this book, but it wasn't this amazing love story. A love story that included love of a child, love of a man, and love of a family. It completely pulled me in and vested in me in Vanilla Latte and City Roast's life in a wonderful way. And the second epilogue brought me to tears. This was a beautiful story of love in all the ways it's supposed to be in this world. I'm completely hooked on this author.

Holy wow...

Reading this book was an amazing experience. So much that I cried for twenty minutes after finishing it. Jared and Stephanie's story was literally everything! Adorable, sexy, cute, sad, heart wrenching. This is one book I won't soon forget! And absolute must read!

Oh My Goodness what an amazing story. I loved how the stars aligned to bring Stephanie and Jared together, I loved that their story wasn't rushed. This is the first book I've read by Kay Gordon and I really enjoyed her writing style and the way the characters were developed. This book has so much love, joy, pain, and touches of humor, I laughed, I cried, but most of all it left me with a smile and a happy heart.

This is a sllooowww burn and I think the most unique thing about this book was that neither the h or H had issues to work through. There was external drama that came into play however. I really liked the characters and hopefully Kate and Alyssa will get HEA’s. I’m giving the book 3.5 stars but that epilogue is a solid 5 stars!
