For the past six months, rookie world mage Randall Flood has been hunting down and capturing anything that stinks of magic and stashing it within the pages of a spellbook named Chuck. But is there more to his breakneck missions than meets the eye?
The talkative tome claims Randall’s predecessor, Mitch, is to blame for magic’s reappearance. The previous wizard had banished most anything magical and hoarded the remaining spells and mystic weapons for himself. Now, as magic resurfaces with greater frequency, Randall doubts the wisdom of capturing the arcane and socking it away in the spellbook.
An encounter with an attractive and crafty witch through an enchanted dating app upends his wizardly purpose and sets him on a path to halt a magical disaster.
Randall must decide whether to save the world using his tried-and-true spellbook or through another mystical avenue that is unusual and untested.
Brian Clopper lends his trademark wit and talent for concocting clever magical mash-ups to a new fantasy novel that explores the archetype of sorcerer as earthly protector in a dynamic new light.
Quirky, witty and “magically” engaging, Brian Clopper’s BRING ON THE MAGIC is another brilliant addition to topnotch middlegrade/ya reading for ANYONE who is young at heart!
Randall Flood has been on a mission to capture magical monsters for the past six months. As a newly minted world mage, Randall has been guided by Chuck, his spellbook who also acts as a prison for the captured magic! How fortunate for Randall that Chuck came long when he did…or is there more going on than another chapter in a world mage’s life? What happened to the previous world mage and why has magic decided to invade the mundane world now in spades?
It took meeting a fiesty little witch to open Randall’s eyes to a simply sinister plot. Will Randall find “the rest of the story” buried within the unread pages of Chuck’s chapters?
With rapid-fire pacing, our unlikely hero will discover the truth behind the magic he has been hunting down, but not before his adventures take us on a journey of epic proportions!
Brian Clopper has nailed another farfetched fantasy with as much mayhem as magic in his own special blend of crazy-good creativity! This is an author who knows his audience and writes from the fun side of his heart!

I've read all of Brian Clopper's books, and this feels very familiar in a good way: plenty of excitement, magic, weird and wonderful beasts, and a touch of romance.
Randall Flood finds himself taking on the role as Earth's new world mage, working alongside a magical spell book named Chuck to safely capture magical monsters and random spells that show up unannounced in our modern, mundane society. Some incursions are easy to deal with, though annoying; flying baloney, anyone? Others are much darker and dangerous. Think Ghostbusters, except Randall is dealing with magic rather than ghosts.
The magical stuff is old-school Clopper, and clearly he had a lot of fun writing this. The romance side of things has always been present to some degree in all his books, but he really proved himself as a romantic when he wrote We Three Meet and Decisive Magic under the pen name D. Spangler. Since then, I've looked forward to the boy-meets-girl subplots that always crop up in his middle-grade novels and often find myself yearning for more about the relationship and less of the actual plot! But then the book would be in the wrong genre. Maybe what I really need is more D. Spangler books...
Of course, Clopper is smart not to bog down his middle-grade fantasy in romance. There's way too much fun to be had what with all the bizarre monsters and creative spells.
A young wizard, Randall Flood, and a talking spell book, Chuck, team up to protect the mythical creatures and raw magic that have begun to seep back into our modern world. All seems to be going well until Randall develops a nagging suspicion that his noble mission may not be all that noble. With its sharp writing, light-hearted humor, exciting action, and impressive world-building, "Bring On the Magic" has quickly become my favorite Brian Clopper book. Recommended.
