It was, overall, an enjoyable story. I liked Garrett and Andi as a couple and they seemed to have a nice chemistry. At the same time, though, their story had way too many issues for me to give this book a higher rating.

First of all, I think the writing needed a lot more work because it didn’t manage to have the expected emotional impact that stories usually have. I would have also, liked to see more character development.

The main characters might be Garrett and Andi but the beginning of the book, the part where it should be all about their introduction, was dedicated to the main characters of the previous book. Again and again, there were references to things that happened in the previous book, filling pages that should have been dedicated to the current story.

I also was not a fan of the over the top drama in this book. There were a lot of things that could have been prevented if the couple had basic communication skills. Like for example when Garrett went out with another woman to get some information, but failed to say to the heroine that this was not actually a date. Also, there were some moments that didn’t seem believable to me, like when that woman was able to not only kiss, but stick her tongue in Garrett before he was able to even react.

Another thing that I didn’t like were the double standards of this book. Garrett mentions many times that he has been with many other women, but he isn’t portrayed as someone bad. On the other hand, all the women that are sexually very active, are the villains of the story and they are portrayed as shallow and vain people. There is also the fact that the heroine is a virgin.

Just like all the other romances with double standards the hero can sleep with other women and discard them, but that is okay because somehow all those sexually active women always end up to be bad. The only one who is worthy to be in a relationship with him, the one who is portrayed as the only good and caring person, is the heroine who always happens to be a virgin.

I voluntarily reviewed the free copy that I received via Reading Alley.

He saw her through the crack of an open door. From that day on, Garrett Tucker, heir to his grandfather’s casino empire, the next “Prince of Vegas,” is smitten, but before he could actually meet the beautiful stranger, she disappeared from sight. Life goes on and Garrett is determined to fulfill his late grandfather’s dream of turning the Bayou Princess, a rundown casino in Biloxi into a the crowning jewel of his empire.

Andi Ryan’s life has been anything but a tale of happily ever after, but she did notice the handsome man noticing her, too bad she had to run off before meeting him. Her godmother needs her and she is off to Biloxi. What she finds is nothing like what she expected, and there is no way she can leave now. Securing a job at a renovated casino, (yep, the Bayou Princess), as a finance supervisor, she finds to her horror, she will be working for her evil stepmother and stepsisters. Andi also finds that someone is embezzling from the casino and all things point to her.

Garrett goes undercover to find out who is cooking the books, but he will bet the house that it isn’t Andi, who has no idea who he really is…together, these three, Garrett, Andi and the secret elephant in the room will have their work cut out exposing the truth and the deck is stacked against them.
When all is said and done, Garrett will have to show his cards and hope the Queen of Hearts has an “in” with Cupid. When she discovers the truth, will Andi roll the dice one more time for love?

Bring on the hearts, the flowers, and place your bets, folks as Petie McCarty has us swooning for love and BETTING ON CINDERELLA! Everybody loves a good, modern day, fairytale romance and Ms. McCarty delivers just that, once again! Delightfully charming characters, a wickedly evil “step-monster,” betrayal within the ranks and the twist at the end? Priceless, sigh worthy, shocking and simply magical, because this is a fairytale romance, and anything goes, even in the twenty-first century!! A fun read that’s like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day!

At the wedding of his best friend, Rhett, Garrett spots a beautiful woman sitting in the pew. There’s an instant attraction but before he can speak to her, she vanishes. Meanwhile, Garrett gets word his beloved grandfather has died. Reeling from the loss, Garrett’s unprepared for the reading of his grandfather’s will. Garrett becomes heir to Crown Corporation and all the casinos that go along with it, including his grandfather’s pet project and flailing casino, The Bayou Princess. He heads to Biloxi to investigate what’s going on and discovers not only an embezzler but the beautiful woman from Rhett’s wedding is working at the same casino he now owns.

Andi flees from her best friend’s wedding to visit her godmother in Biloxi. She senses her godmother is in trouble and her suspicions are confirmed when she sees the tiny house on stilts her godmother’s now living in. To make matters worse, Andi thinks her godmother is a gambling addict. She needs to stick around and take care of her godmother, no matter what. She even takes a job at the Bayou Princess casino, which is across the street, as a financial supervisor.

Sparks fly between Garrett and Andi and soon start dating. But between Andi’s wicked stepmother and stepsister are her bosses at the casino and tailing her godmother as she gambles, she’s living the hellish Cinderella life of years gone by. The only thing that makes her smile is Garrett. His kisses melt her insides and she wonders if he might be her Prince Charming. But all is not as it seems and when Garrett’s identity is revealed at the unveiling of the Bayou Princess hotel attached to the casino, she runs away, back to Florida. Can she forgive Garrett for all the lies and let her heart show her the way or is it all too late?

I loved this original retelling of Cinderella where both the hero and the heroine are Cinderella. Petie McCarty sweeps the reader away to a modern-day fairy tale where there’s conflict galore, a sexy billionaire in disguise and an intelligent, caring woman taking care of her godmother. Betting on Cinderella is all aces and I highly recommend it!

If you’re looking for a romance filled with gambling, action, attempted murder, kidnapping and falling in love, pick this up right now.

"Betty on Cinderella" by Petie McCarty

My Thoughts....

Wow what a story that had it all:

From a horrible stepmother, two stepsisters, oh my a wonderful godmother a yes what is left but a Cinderella and you will have quite a charming fairy tale. I loved how this story fit so well with the Cinderella story but also giving us a good read that contained 'embezzlers, casinos and rough looking guys like the mafia in this particular read. I really like seeing how far this godmother would go for her goddaughter, Andi definitely giving her one quite 'fairy tale ending.' The two main characters, Garrett Tucker and Andi Ryan along with the secondary characters were simply all very well developed, portrayed and believable told fairy tale story that will keep you turning the pages. For Garrett who had been at his friends wedding [Rhett & Lilly] that he sees a 'beautiful women sitting the in the pew' [Andi] but they do not get a chance to meet. From here the story will take off and the reader will get a story that will give one quite a few twist and turns in the retelling of the Cinderella story. Be ready for a fairy tale that will keep you guessing till the end in this fast paced read. The story will have lots of 'conflict, sexy billionaire in disguise, and a caring woman wanting to take care of her godmother, romance, deception, drama, lies, gambling action, attempted murder, embezzler, kidnapping and in the end a HEA. I indeed enjoyed that ending that gave this story a new twist into this Cinderella tale.

This well written, involved story has a little bit of everything: lies, manipulation, espionage, attempted murder, arson and fortunately romance! As in the song "Some Enchanted Evening," Garrett and Andi's eyes meet across a crowded room and the attraction between them is instant and sizzling. However it takes a while longer for them to actually meet again at the site of the Biloxi casino when Andi starts her new job. Garrett also appears to be employed by the casino, but with puppet masters pulling the strings in the background, nothing is as it seems. Andi realises that she is being framed for embezzlement and although everything points to her being the culprit, Garrett tries to get to the bottom of the problem, on top of all the other problems that are disrupting his progress in getting the casino ready on time. The story is fast paced and keeps the reader guessing to the end. However, there were a few people who should have had their heads knocked to together. One would have like to see Andi's evil step-mother and sister receive their just deserts, although it is implied. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.

Everyone wants to be loved for who they are--not for their money or career position. As you know when a guy has money, they are pollen to the queen bees out there looking for a plush existence. How is a guy to know the difference? Garrett holds his secret identity close to his heart. He wants to win Andi over as a person in his own right. But does he hold the secret too long? Can such a secret destroy trust building between two people?

This series only gets better. Petie McCarty writes a riveting romance while indulging the suspense and danger element crucial to a read I enjoy. Her characters in Betting on Cinderella are reminiscent of Cinderella’s plight—a godmother who comes to her aid as a child, but now living in Biloxi appears to need aid of her own with a huge addiction to gambling.

Her stepmother is a real piece of work kicking Andi from her own home when her father died. Andi was only 12 when she started living with her godmother. Now, she and her two daughters are working at the same casino Andi is. Unfortunately, her stepmother is her boss. She’s the boss from hell. Could it get any worse? Irene takes after her mother, ribbing Andi anytime she can, creating a workload beyond beyond. Andi is well-liked by her co-workers who step up to the plate to ease her load.

Andi’s best friend is heroine of book one and Garrett Tucker is the best friend of Rhett, her husband. I love how McCarty pulls the characters of book one into this book giving a nice backdrop to both Garrett and Andi’s lives in Florida.

This is very much a realistic setting where Garrett is rebuilding a casino, a project completely his own, where Andi decides to live in Biloxi to watch over the woman who saved her early in life. Surprises pop up – it isn’t a slow-moving, easy plot. It full of twists with an unbelievable ending. This story is highly appreciated, extremely entertaining with action, suspense, danger, and love. It gets five stars!

Fairy tale re-tellings are always a bit tricky: they are great or they do the original fairy tale injustice. But Petie McCarty has nailed it. This modern Cinderella story (starring Andi as Cinderella) with her evil stepmother and two evil stepsisters is absolutely original, funny and also has it's own twist.

Yes, the story isn't totally according to the original Cinderella story. But let's face it: there was no gambling and no Las Vegas in the Disney version. But yes, we do have a "prince" Garrett, who is reluctantly coming to Biloxi in order to save his recently died grandfather's last project, the Bayou Princess casino.

And while Andi aka Cinderella isn't cleaning floors, she is working at the merci of her stepsister and stepmom in the casino. Determined to make the best of this, in order to help her (not-very-fairy) godmother stay clear of her gambling addiction.

And while Garrett is lying about his personality to Andi, while working undercover in his own casino, Andi is having a very funny email conversation with the owner of the casino. Not knowing that Garrett is the one-and-only casino owner.

The story reaches it's peak during the grand opening ball of the casino. And yes, at first Andi isn't able to go, because her evil stepsister ruined her ballgown. But at the ball, the story gets a new twist... and even if you know Cinderella by heart, you'll still be surprised! Check it out for yourself. Four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

Oh my Gods that was one hell of a book. This book is so
well-written and expertly done. Petie has such a way with
words you will not want to put it down.

This is Garrett and Andi’s story. This book starts out on a sad
note. While at a wedding for his friends he gets a message
that his beloved grandfather has passed away. And then he
has to rush to Vegas. But at the same time Andi is headed to
her Godmothers home only to find things worse than she
thought. And then when she gets a job she ends up working
for her evil step mother and step sister. But Garrett is
keeping a secret form her and it may end things for them.
There is an embezzler at her new job and all looks to be
leading to her. And when you find out who is behind it you
are in for a shock

Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you
enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book,
please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it
when you do; they value your opinions too

This was a really interesting story! While it sticks to your basic boy-meets-girl romance, it’s the back stories and intrigues the author tosses in that really make it awesome! The characters attracted me instantly, the heroine is sweet but not completely incapable of having a backbone and the hunk is thoughtful but not perfect.

As he struggles with personal tragedy and sudden changes, Garrett is in danger of missing out on a fantastic woman. Can he come to his senses and balance both business and pleasure? Will she forgive him for his deception, cause you KNOW she will find out. They always do!

As an independent reviewer for Romance Authors that Rock, I gave this one a full five hearts for touching mine several times! It’s got a few steamy spots, so keep the kids supervised!

I very much looked forward to reading this. I enjoyed the first book in this series, Cinderella Busted. And well, anything with "Cinderella" in the title grabs my attention. I enjoyed Betting on Cinderella even more. Some very fun and interesting twists and turns in this Romantic suspense story. I laughed. I gasped. Oh no! Look out! He didn't! Really! I laughed out loud. You are kidding! How could he! What was he thinking. I cried. *sigh* I was up all night reading. I couldn't put it down. Wonderful story.

Now that we have Rhett and Lily married off, (Cinderella Busted) and Garrett has found Andi, (Betting on Cinderella) I surely hope there will be a book for Aiden. He needs a book. Not to mention, he appears to be an interesting character himself. Regardless, I like this author and would like to read more of her.

Worth rereads

This book was good enough that after several months I went back and read it again. A good effort to put a different spin on an old story. I enjoyed Garrett’s struggles to keep his two lives separated while trying to move into a true relationship. Keeping track of who was with the bad guys and who was with the good guys and who was somewhere in between keeps you busy. I’ve enjoyed all the books that can be read as stand alones.

Ready for Aidan's story!

I suspect this is going to be a trilogy and I'm ready for Aidan's story!

I loved Garrett's story! It wasn't just a romance, but a mystery too, with some nifty twists and turns. The only thing I didn't like was I didn't learn what happened to "the skankers." Hopefully Petie will rectify this in a third book!

Betting on Cinderella is a well done story about lust/love at first sight, with a cute play on the fairytale.
Garret Tucker is in the wedding of his best friend and spots a good looking blond through the door of the altar, sitting in the church. He’s immediately drawn to her but when he tries to meet her at the reception, she’s already gone. At the same event he learns that his casino-owning grandfather has died and he’s the heir apparent.

Andi Ryan wanted nothing more than to meet the cute guy checking her out in the church at her friend's wedding, but before she can, she’s called away for a family emergency by her Godmother.

Now since this is a romance, you just know these two people are finally going to meet up, but their road to an HEA is rife with misunderstanding, secrets, suspicions, and corporate intrigue. It seems Andi is the finance supervisor of a new casino of Garret’s and she discovers someone’s been playing fast and loose with the books. Unfortunately, Garret suspects that person is Andi.

This was the second book in the Cinderella series from Ms McCarty – many of the characters from book 1 pop up in this one as well.

Well written, subtly paced, and a charming play on the fairytale. 4 stars from me. My thanks to Goddess Fish tours and Ms McCarty for a chance to read this story.

Betting on Cinderella is book two from the Cinderella Romances series. I enjoyed the story. I thought it cute with some delightful scenes, as well as, some twists that I did not see coming. The characters were fun to get to know and I enjoyed spending my time with them. I hope to catch up and read the first book of the Cinderella Romances series to find out what had happened prior.

I would recommend Betting on Cinderella for readers who are looking for a light read. I give it 4 stars.

I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

Independent reviewer for Archaeolibraian – I Dig Good Books

This was a cute story. It was a feel good, fast paced read. It is one of those stories that you read after reading an emotionally heavy story.

The details and descriptions on this story were good. They kep the story flowing and kept the understanding there. They made the visualization easy. They didn’t make my mind have to work too hard to understand what’s going on.

Overall, I enjoyed this story. It was written well and the story line was cute. It was generic in a sense but I don’t mean anything derogatory about that. It’s nice to have those types of reads every now and again.

That being said, there was nothing that wowed me or made the story over the top. I can’t say there was anything specifically “made” me want to keep reading or any particular part of the story that dug its claws deep into me not allowing me to put down the story.

I would recommend this book to you just as a story to read and enjoy without much thought. It’s an escape story and will allow your mind to do as such. I think you’ll enjoy the read!

Betting on Cinderella (Cinderella Romances 2) - PG13
Violence: intimated
Language: fewer than 175 swears
Sex: descriptive kissing and suggestive thoughts

Definitely read *Cinderella Busted* first; it will enhance the experience and you'll figure out that the heroines are virgins and once you just go ahead and accept that this is important to the story, it won't be something that you obsess over (even though everyone else involved does, not that it's anyone's business!!!). [Aside: I think it's Great not to have premarital sex, but I don't think that those who don't engage are the unicorns that they're portrayed as. Rant over.] As in the first book, the bad guys are despicable, and the Hero is over-the-top alpha male when it comes to the heroine. This one is even better than the first; there are some pretty good surprises.

This is the story of Garrett who is a casino heir, to a casino empire. He sees a girl and is instantly taken with her, but she runs off. Garrett wants to add a run-down old casino to the Empire for his family. Andi, our FMC gets a job, at the rundown old casino with her godmother needing her help. Andi is shown/pointed out being the person who was stealing from the casino however is not her.
Gary goes undercover at the casino, and he works with Andi to figure out who is stealing the money from the casino. There are many secrets in this book, and some are exposed and we will find out what happens to Andi and Garrett when you read the book.

Garrett inherits casino

Garrett receives word his grandfather has died suddenly, a stroke and has already been cremated per his instructions. Sam left everything to Garrett if he can make the Bayou Princess profitable in two years. And is at Rhett and Lily's weddings and sees Andi. He wants to meet her but he got word his grandfather died. Garrett goes to casino undercover to find out what is going on there. Good story and characters.

I liked Garrett's personality, “not the way I planned to get you under me,” he whispered in her ear and grinned when she blushed. “What were you doing here?” Overall I liked this book, I wasn't in love with it but I didn't hate it either. I just wasn't as into it as I normally am with other books.

Wicked stepmother and stepsisters plus some other wicked people who are not in the old Cinderella stories are definitely nasty in this story. Everyone in the story is human, but it is fun to match them up to the Cinderella story characters.
