Is this really my life?

From the moment college catalogs started arriving, my mother pushed me towards a degree in accounting. There are worse careers in the world, so after school, I landed a job at a firm with an eye on taking classes to become a CPA. Once Gran and I find a person straight out of mythology, I realize there’s more to this world than I ever imagined.

While at work, a call from Gran had me rushing around the countryside. I was ready to stop for the day when a whirlpool of bright light opened, and we come face to face with a giant stone person. Before I truly have time to hyperventilate, Gran is introducing herself and leading it back to my car. Our rocky friend is in trouble, and when government agents start showing up, Gran and I are in hot water ourselves.

Can we avoid being thrown in prison long enough to help Gran’s new companion?

Stonecoat by Amanda Booloodian is a prequel book in her AIR series. The book is written in first-person and is from the point-of-view of Cassandra Heidrich, a young woman from a family of psychics. The book is an urban fantasy/paranormal adventure. It is well-written, flows well, filled with interesting characters, and has no plot-holes that I noticed.

Cassandra is a great main character, and what's more she has several supporting characters behind her that help make this book not only interesting but fun to read. First there's her Gran, a smart, no nonsense psychic with a world of paranormal experience behind her and the connections to show it. Then there's their visitor Dwayne, a big ol' gentle giant who's really out of his depth and in need of help. And let's not forget Logan, the show tunes singing agent from the Treasury Department.

This is a fun, easy read and I quite enjoyed it. I am looking forward to picking up the next book in the series and finding out what adventures are in store for Cassie next.

Recommended to fans of The Dresden Files, Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Stories, and books with strong female characters

Cute and quirky

It was quite enjoyable. A quick read that will either be; good for a deeper look after the first book,or a great way to start the series. I have read quite a lot of fantasy books, and this author did a good job of carving her own niche in the genre. It's fresh and has the humour and adventure mix that is enjoyable to read. The author does a very good of giving you a taste of what's to come. I would highly recommend reading it to get a feel for her writing style.

I was kind of leary about this story. But once I got into it, I was pleasantly surprised. It was fun, with some danger and intrigue. It was an easy read and definitely kept your attention. She is a new author for me and I am glad I found her. I will definitely get more of her books. I received this from the author and voluntarily reviewed.

Another amazing read from Amanda Booloodian. This one is a prequel, but still so good. I read it in one go...just couldn't put it down. Love, love, love Gran! And this tells how partners Logan and Cassie meet. Great book. Looking forward to many more!

A fresh twist on the urban fantasy genre. Booloodian knows how to tell a story and does a good job of setting up the world of A.I.R. In this novella. Definitely worth your time if you're into this genre.
