So you've just been caught committing a crime by one of your most attractive employees, and if he opens his mouth you'll lose everything you've worked to build. You could bribe him. You could threaten him. You could fire him, and open yourself up to a lawsuit if you even survive the criminal trial. Or you could marry him, so that no court of law would force him to testify against you. That's the problem Daniel Colt faces when his subordinate, Bryn, catches him putting his soul on the line to save the future of his company and its thousands of employees. One marriage of convenience. A hefty payoff that would solve so many problems for Bryn and his family. Only Bryn isn't sure he can keep it strictly business when his boss is bisexual, gorgeous, always there—and completely out of his league. But Bryn's falling hard, falling fast, and struggling to separate their fake engagement from his very real feelings. It's just a business arrangement. Another corporate deal. But the engagement ring on his finger has Bryn bound to more than just their arrangement, and Daniel's secrets aren't the only ones locked up in gilded silence. I thought this would be no more than a 2-star. Honestly, it took me a bit to get into it, but after a while it picked up nicely.
It did falter a bit towards the end, though; because, while it was nice that the relationship was relatively slow-paced, then after their first kiss everything was a bit too rushed (blame it on this being so short, but I'm generally a bit more vanilla, I like some time after the first kiss for anything sexual to happen).
Overall, the characters were well-crafted, and I appreciated that there was next to no drama or angst. It was nice for a change. I had to say, though, it would benefit a lot from a proofread, there were some edit issues that were a tiny bit of an eyesore.
I left my official review in the previous comments. I’m giving this book 3 stars simply for the effort alone of writing and getting her book published! I’m challenging Ms. Langley to get better Beta readers. This really is a good book, but I refuse to edit as I read! How many times on one page in chapter 3 was it necessary for Bryn to call Daniel, Mr. Daniel Colt? Goodness gracious, THAT annoyed me to no end. That’s when I was done. Well I guess my review wasn’t done. I really want big time success for Ms. Langley, I really do!
This was an enjoyable read. I've read a couple from Lina Langley now and can happily recommend her work. This is a slight twist on getting into a relationship with your boss when Bryn overhears something he shouldn't leading his boss to ask him the only thing he can think of to prevent future repercussions.....marriage. Daniel knows Bryn likes him but that pales to the significance of keeping his company safe and running. Bryn has just discovered his parent's business is in trouble so damn the consequences to his own heart, he'll do it for the money which will help them. You can feel the emotions from both characters, especially once an accident brings them inevitably closer. There aren't any secondary characters to bolster the story and offer support/friendship etc. Apart from Bryn's parents and Daniel's driver and doorman, we don't hear from anyone else. This story doesn't go deep on any issues, it's an easy read that draws you in and has enough to keep you interested throughout. It kind of glosses over deeper feelings, not taking us too deep into the characters history or experiences previous to this story. I'd recommend it and look for this author's work again.
I thought this was an intriguing story with likeable characters but I can only give it three stars because the lack of editing made it difficult for me to read this book. I also found the writing to be disjointed at times and I wish there had been a proper explanation about why Daniel feels his only option for saving his company is to marry Bryn. The repetitive use of Daniel's full name by Bryn was odd to me as well. I loved Bryn and found his clumsiness to be endearing and Daniel was not easy to like at first but after Bryn's accident he was so caring that I couldn't help but like him. Bryn's courage when he told Daniel how he really felt about him was my favorite part. Daniel has to decide if he is willing to take a chance on love and convince Bryn that they are meant to be together. I was given an ARC to review by the author.
What a sweet and emotional story. Although I wasn't so keen on Daniel at the beginning of the story, I then realised that he was just trying to keep his family business going. Also, he grew on me after the way he opened up to Bryn later in the story. I'm not going to repeat the story, but due to certain circumstances Daniel comes up with the idea of marrying Bryn. Bryn is shocked at first, but after he thinks things through he realises that with the money he can help his parents. The characters are really well written and it's was lovely how their relationship developed. I really enjoyed following how their love grew throughout the book. I knocked a star off, because I felt that the editing could've been better. Other than that, a decent story, worth a read.
Gilded Silence Bryn's catches his boss Daniel committing a crime so when Daniel has a proposition to keep him quiet and one that he would benefit from, he can't really say no! Daniel didn't know what to do when Bryn caught him, he could of bribed him but instead asked Bryn to marry him. He was only doing what he done to save the company he inherited after the death of his father and keep his sick mother comfortable. With Daniel having commitment issues he pulls away from Bryn when they start to get to close. He doesn't know what to do with these feelings. The only problem with this fake arrangement is they didn't plan to actually fall in love. This is a quick read with a lovely ending.
This is a really enjoyable read. This is the first time I have read this author and will definitely be reading more from this author. Daniel will do anything to save the family company that he is CEO of. When he is caught doing an underhanded deal he needs to ensure that if the government come looking Bryn will be unable to testify. He comes up with marriage and Bryn is a little shocked he wants time to think about it but then he realises he can help his parents with the money. Daniel and Bryn are really good characters who take you on the journey as they get to know each other. This is a really enjoyable book and I would recommend it as a good read.
The story has a little fast pace to it, as it speeds the pretend relationship of Bryn and Daniel along. I had to laugh at the scene of Bryn in the bathroom at work. I loved the story. The relationship didn’t stay pretend for long, which turned it into a happy ever after. Loved the chemistry they had. The bedroom scenes were light. Very enjoyable read. Thank you for sharing your book with us. Got for an honest review.
A sweet and short story. Good storyline that is fast paced but flows smoothly. Bryn and Daniel are wonderful characters who embark in a fake marriage because Daniel feels it's the only way to save his company. They have great chemistry and I like watching their relationship develop from fake to real feelings. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

I honestly didn't know what to expect when I first read the synopsis, but I quite liked this! It was really cute, and the characters were well developed. I just didn't like the rushed sex scene, and the fact that Daniel's reason to marry Bryn wasn't well thought out (or explained thoroughly).
Bryn and Daniel had a complicated relationship to start. With all the angst between the two of them the finally overcame their problem and realized the forced situation was for the best. Other than the mixing up of names and some grammatical errors, the story line was great and it was different than other office romances.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The characters were believable and you could really sympathize with both of them.
To be honest, I don't really understand what it was that Daniel did that made fake-marriying Bryn a necessity, so I kinda lost that part of the plot a little bit..
While this was on the shorter side, the story managed to have sweet characters and a great storyline. However, the length made the story equally fast-paced and that takes away some of the enjoyment for me since I like deep, slow-developing love stories.
