Loved reading "Escaping Ryan" book 2 of the Genoa Mafia series by Ginger Ringer. This was Ryan and Valentina's romantic suspense story. Sassy, Valentina Caponelli (Roman's sister from book 1) was a smart mafia princess/lawyer/and owner of Firenza who wanted her independence from her father, the Don Joseph Caponelli. Her father planned her law career to the letter but Val wanted to have clients outside of the Caponelli Family. So she runs back to Genoa Wisconsin where her brother and sister-in-law (Roman and Madison) resides and again meets an old crush from high school, Officer Ryan Donovan who works for the Genoa Police Department. Talk about a slow burn with loads of twists and turns due mainly to the thrilling backstory of the Housewife serial killer. Boy, was that intense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Favorite quote: "There was no escaping Ryan, and she never wanted to."

Looking forward in reading Dominic (Roman's cleaner) and Stephanie's story next.

Escaping Ryan: Genoa Mafia Series is a suspense romance novel written by Ginger Ring. Valentina Caponelli, an attorney, relocates to Lake Genoa, Wisconsin to escape her family’s control. Her attraction to Officer Ryan Donovan deepens, but dating a cop is conflicting, considering that her brother, Roman, is a mob boss.

When a killer terrifies the peaceful town, Ryan and Roman investigate on opposite sides to catch the criminal. However, the latter’s methods for gathering information are illegal. Ryan tries not to let his love for the mafia princess jeopardize his job, but when her life is endangered, he makes a decision that could ruin his career and his chances at happiness with Valentina.

Escaping Ryan is Ginger Ring’s second book in the Genoa Mafia Series involving the Caponelli family and Ryan Donovan. It’s a lovely romance with a suspenseful mystery that had its usual suspects, with the identity of the killer only revealed near the conclusion. Valentina is strong willed with a lively personality. Ryan is reserved but is not a person who backs down easily, especially when he wants something. The romantic scenes are not graphic ones, but I wanted to know more about Valentina and Ryan’s past, how they really met as it’s briefly mentioned.

Ginger Ring's writing is engaging and I liked how she started the catchy beginning. This is an easy flowing, suspenseful page-turner that also described Lake Genoa’s beauty and its landmarks. Escaping Ryan by Ginger Ring is an enjoyable book if you’re looking for a light read.

This was my first book in the Genoa Mafia Series and my first book by Ginger Ring. It will not be my last though. I enjoyed this story and I love Valentina and her need for independence and distance from her family life.

Valentina Caponelli is a strong willed woman who is kind, sweet, and in love with a man that contradicts her family’s line of work. Her father is a Don in the mafia and is very protective of his daughter. She has passed the bar exam and is now a lawyer. Her father paid for her to go to law school and become an lawyer so that she could work for the “family”. The problem is that she doesn’t want to just work for the “family”, she wants to open her own law office and help people who needed her, and she wanted to work on the right side of the law. She moves to Lake Genoa, Wisconsin to open her office and continue to run her restaurant. She will still be near family, her brother Ramon and his wife Madison live there, so she won’t be alone.

Officer Ryan Donovan, a police officer in Lake Genoa. Orphaned as a child, he found himself in trouble quite often until his Uncle told him he needed to settle down and take the right path in life. He’s know Valentina since he was a sophomore in high school and has wanted her since then too. When Valentina moves to Lake Genoa, Ryan finally finds his chance to get to know her and make those wishes of having her as his come true. He doesn’t care who her father is or what her brother thinks, he only cares about her. He feels that he has to get Valentina’s fathers approval to marry her and he knows that it won’t be easy, but he will do anything have Valentina in his life forever.

These are meant to be together and it becomes pretty clear early on that they were made for each other. Even Valentina’s family can see it and she doesn’t face too much trouble when their relationship starts.

If you like stories about mafia men, strong women, mafia princesses, and kind hearted men who will do anything for the woman that they love, then you will want to read this book. There are some very dangerous men in this book, but there are also some very strong and dangerous women as well. This was a great read and I look forward to reading more of this series, and going back to read Ramon and Madison’s stories as well.

Valentina is known as the Mafia Princess. She’s ambitious, beautiful and smart. She’s got her eye on the towns Hot Cop. Ryan Donovan made it his life’s goal to serve and protect. He’s had his eye on Valentina since high school. He’s also always been friends with her older brother Roman. Unfortunately for Ryan he doesn’t see a clear path to dating the mafia princess since his chosen profession is on the side of the Law. A series of young murdered women keep popping up in his town and he considers it his duty to also watch out for Valentina. Through this difficult time the two spend much more time together. Ryan needs to focus on the murders but he also doesn’t stop his feelings for Valentina from growing. Roman seems to approve of the two of them dating but knows it won’t go over well with his Father back in Chicago. There’s quite a bit of suspense in this one you really don’t want to miss out on this story. Thank you again to the Author for allowing me to read and review this story before its released.

A very enjoyable romance.
Valentina is a mafia princess, beautiful, wealthy and has everything she desires. Except Officer Ryan Donavan, he’s been one of her secret fantasies for years, but her mob boss brother definitely wouldn’t like her dating a cop, so he’s got to stay in her dreams.
Ryan likes Valentina a lot, but he knows she’s off limits, to keep the peace he knows it’s look but don’t touch. Which is forgotten when danger comes to town, they get closer when a murder is committed, and the force and the mafia join hands then to catch the villain.
Very suspenseful, an exciting who-dun-it mystery and some hot romance too!
I highly recommend it!

Sweet romance with a bit of danger.

The second in the series is a sweeter romance than the first, but just as exciting. A serial killer has come to town and is targeting young single women.

A good romantic mystery

I liked Valatina. She became a lawyer to help her crime family, but wanted to help other people. She moved to Wisconsin to be more independent of her family. Ryan was a cop she knew from childhood. They struggle with the differences of her loyalty to her crime family, and his to the law. While They are trying to date and reconcile their differences, a serial killer is on the loose. I like the balance of their romance and the detective work done by Ryan and Valatina's crime family brother.

I really enjoyed this mild mafia story. It was suspenseful with likable characters and it kept me turning the pages. While this was sweet at times, and sexy, too, it also had some twists that kept me guessing.

Ryan is a police officer, Valentina is the daughter of a mob boss. Is there a future for these two who are on opposite sides of the law? Tension was thick when these two were around each other, I couldn’t help but root for them.

It was nice to see Roman and Madison in this story, too. They were the main characters in book one, and they make quite a few appearances in here.

I enjoyed this quick, suspense-filled book and I look forward to more in the series - hopefully it’s Dom’s turn. He’s a man of few words... dark and mysterious, and I would love to know his story.

There are two things that can make fall in love with a book. First the blurb, second the cover. Because let's face it, if both these two don't appeal to me I won't read it and I'm sure you don't too. If we are talking about a new author we really should take this in consideration. But if it is a to go author you will read the book without neither. Am I right? I know I am.
Ginger Ryan is a new author to me and let's just say that I want more. Her writing is simple, super detailed and engaging. And since I'm in love with mafia books this series was the cherry on top of the cake.
Escaping Ryan is her latest release and it's the second book from the Genoa Mafia series. This book tells the stories of Valentina and Ryan.
Valentina is a mafia princess that needs to escape her father. She wants to gain her independence, practice law and get away from that world of crime punishment and all that it entails.
Ryan is an officer that loves his job. He has a thing for Valentina but being her who she is he knows that she's off limits, because being the sister off a mob boss can be dangerous.
These two want each other but can love really conquer all?
Oh boy Ginger... You really got me...
I was expecting a dark book, full off bad stuff, lots of violence and crime but instead I found a sweet book. But don't let this fool you because you'll have mystery, suspense and a few scares in the middle but it's not that dark.
The plot is amazing, super engaging, well written and fast paced. The interation between the characters is intense and they ooze chemistry and sex appeal. They can be stubborn and be in denial but the heart gets what the heart wants and there is nothing you can do about it.
I was hooked from the first page and I wanted to have more but I loved what I've read.
I haven't read the first book but now I want to see how all of this started.
Great story Ginger but I have a question... Will we have more books for this series? I really hope so.

When most people look at Valentina Caponelli, they see a spoiled mafia princess, but they would be wrong, as Valentina is desperate to do her own thing, to have independence from her father. Yeah, her dad paid for her college, so she became an attorney, but when she passed the bar, instead of going home to her dad, she went home to her brother in Lake Genoa, Wisconsin, to start her own practice. And she's had a thing for Ryan Donavan, but there's a few problems, one, he doesn't know she's alive, and two, he's a cop. Ryan certainly has noticed the beautiful brunette when she comes home, but she's the sister of a mob boss, and he's a lawman. She's got money, and he doesn't have a lot. But he can't seem to stay away from her, even though her brother isn't happy about it, however, he's got bigger problems, as the town has a serial killer on the loose. Escaping Ryan is the first book that I've read by Ginger Ring, and I found her writing style very talented, as I was instantly captivated. I loved Valentina from the beginning, and even Ryan, although he needed to be shaken a time or two. And the colorful cast of secondaries that made up her family, and his coworkers kept me laughing a lot. (Not to mention the mouthy teenage boy who loved his mom) The added in twists & turns added to this great story as it kept my heart racing with the suspense factor, especially since it took me quite a bit to guess "who dun it", so the f-bombs dropped like crazy! I wish I had started with book 1, but better late than never, and hopefully there are more coming as I'm hooked! HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Wowsa! Ginger Ring runs "rings" around the mafia genre. She is amongst my go-to authors for contemporary, suspense and thrill reads. I enjoy reading her stories and honestly can't wait for more.

In this book, we were re-introduced to two characters from Crossing Roman. Valentina Caponelli is Roman's sisters and trust me when I say that Officer Ryan Donovan doesn't miss the facts.

1. Val is the object of Ryan's high school crush.
2. She is as beautiful as ever.
3. She just moved back to town after passing her law exams.
AND
4. She is the mob boss' baby sister.

Regardless, of Valentina's social status, education and beauty her insecurities and all around shyness have hampered her from dating at all. Especially (coincidentally enough) HER high school crush, Ryan Donovan.

Who was she kidding? Ryan was the law, and her family skirted the edge of the law. He would never be interested in her.

BUT a string of murders have thrust the two together due to Ryan's protective instincts. Will the killer kill the romance that has yet to begun or will it finally thrust them together? Read! Read! Read! Read this gem straight away. If you haven't read Crossing Roman, I recommend you read it first as the characters do intertwine.

5 stars and a tip of my Nerd Girl hat!!

I never thought that Sweet Mafia Romance would exist, but this book is exactly that. It isn’t your typical dark Mafia romance, full of blood and gore. Instead it is more like a second chance romance. It was a nice quick read I enjoyed a lot.
It was a bit difficult to get in at first, because I expected a dark read, but once I got in, I was hooked. Ryan and Valentina had a lot of misunderstandings throughout the story which was sometimes a bit much, but otherwise funny to read.
The writing style was good and fluent and made it easy to follow the plot. The plot itself was well thought through and had twists and turns that made me stumble and pause. I never would have expected that outcome. Ever.
Escaping Ryan is the second book in the Genoa Mafia Series, but you can read it as complete standalone. I will probably pick up the first book, just to learn about Roman and Madison. I would also like to read the next books in the series since the side characters like Arlo and Dom that appeared throughout the book were interesting as well.
I would recommend this book for beginners of Mafia romance, to get into the topic before trying the darker stuff. As I said. Sweet mafia romance and a recommendation from me. <3

I can't believe I actually read a sweet mafia book. I'm so used to the rough and dark ones that I forgot books like this exist.
I have a couple issues with this book and I hold I can explain them without giving to much away. One is the I felt like the murders over shadowed the romance of Ryan and Valentina. I felt like we didn't really get to see them fall in love. We had a sweet date a d couple moments of hanging out and poof they were in love. I know they knew each other from way back but I wanted more romance. My other issue with this, if she's a mafia princess, wouldn't it have been a lot harder for anyone to be around her. I mean her brother was very protective in the beginning but then he mellows out. I would have thought once the threat got worse he would have had a bodyguard in her. I realize she had Ryan but he didn't exactly trust him. Maybe I'm just over thinking this. Anyway those are my issues.
This book is action packed with some sweet moments in it. I liked the characters.

This book wasn't what I expected. It started off slow then got better.
Valentina and Ryan have known each other forever it seems. Valentina is a Mafia princess and Ryan is a police officer. Those two things just do not mix well so a relationship isn't something that can happen....or is it?
Throw in murder and Ryan is not going to sit back and let anything happen to Valentina.
Sounds great, right? The relationship between Valentina and Ryan just felt rushed.....Like insta love. I wanted the relationship flushed out a little more.
Mafia romance tends to be dark and gritty. The fact that this Mafia romance was not on the super dark side but was surprisingly sweet was a plus. People that have never read mafia romance could start with this then move on to something else.
All in all I liked this book....I just didn't love it.

This is the second book in this amazing series. Valentina and Ryan have loved each other from a distance for a long time, yet knowing they are both of limits, due to Ryan being a cop, and Valentina’s brother being a mafia boss. The chemistry between these two is explosive, but can they both escape when danger comes knocking? This is a fast paced and well written story, which had me hooked and intrigued from the very beginning. This story has twists, murder, suspense, and in a thrilling and captivating read. I highly recommend this authors’ work for all romance readers, and look forward to reading more of her work.

Cops and Mafia don't mix , unless he is the cop and she is the leggy lawyer who he can't get off his mind .

Valentina is the sister to Roman Caponelli and leaves to get away from that life when Ryan and Valentina start off they are back and forth with misunderstandings and when Ryan finds out who she is he has to try to figure out if he can handle it.

Ryan and Roman , come to a sort of truce but as with all things sometimes you have to fight for what you want in life,

This isn't a dark mafia romance this is almost a contemporary mafia romance , I loved every word

Valentina, cute sexy and spunky but, is a mob princess. Ryan is devastatingly handsome and a small town cop. When a murderer comes to town the mafia and police try to find out who is killing innocent young women This book is full of suspense that keeps you guessing until the end. I love Valentina. Ryan has always been the one she wanted but, will her family keep them apart or will Ryan step up and fight for the one thing that he's always craved. You will love this book. It is absolutely fantastic. Now I can't wait for Dom's story. I'm totally intrigued by him now.

Who doesn’t love a romance that is all wrapped up in a fast paced thriller?? This book had it all. You have a beautiful mafia princess who is in love with a man who is on the right side of the law but is torn because her family lives on the other side. This is a great mystery with all the romantic feels. I read this book in one sitting and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough!!

GREAT THRILLER

Am impressed with author's creation of this series about a Mafia Family. The first two books have proven to every entertaining complete with plenty of action, drama and suspense. Author writes overthrowing stories that captivate a reader's interest which makes them a huge fan. The Mafia characters created show the good and bad side of their personalities. This was a firefighter thriller and a stalker and murderer who continues to cause terror from State to State.

Poor writing

The first half of the book is okay but filled with repetitive insecurity by leads. Then the book is rushed. The final few chapters were so abrupt that lost all its charm. Poor writing.. The plot is good but the author is written so poorly.

Most people want to change either if it's the cycle or dynamics within family or just life in general.

Ring view on mob bosses and cops provides a clear picture that everything isn't as portrayed like in the movies.
