Hit List is the 2nd Maggie Black thriller but not to worry if you haven't read the 1st as it can be read as a stand-alone, it's exciting fast paced and if you are into 007 this could be for you only this is a feisty female version. From the previous novel, Maggie ( a secret agent) has resigned from the employers and is on holiday sunning herself when she has been tracked down by a couple of agents from her agency asking her to go back. At first, she refuses but when she finds out that the agency has been hacked and a hit list has been drawn up and agents are dying, and she finds out that her on/off lover is on a mission and cannot be contacted and the agency has been told he is the next on the list. Can Maggie with the help of another ex-agent find him alive, Explosive well written and definitely a winner
Maggie has left the Unit and is luxuriating in Spain after a few weeks in the sun in Greece. What does it mean when three armed people barge into her hotel suite. What can she lose other than life itself. Is she really out of the only life she has known since she was sixteen years old,
Maggie reluctantly agrees to help the Unit with an important mission. She takes on a second mission with alacrity. Two missions for the price of one. She and her compatriots cover a lot of ground from Africa to all over Europe. With deadly encounters and lots of action. Each step of the way Maggie and her team find more reasons to complete the mission quickly. Through it all love is in the air; or is It? Maggie is devious and doesn’t play fair.
Jack has done it again. He had us sitting on the edge of our seats from start to finish with this one. I was chewing my nails down to nubs trying to figure out what was going to happen next. You can just never tell what Maggie and the gang might be up to and what might happen.
This one is packed full of action and suspense and you just couldn't tell what might happen next. I was worried about who might or might not survive this one. Of course, you never know till the end how things are going to turn out and that is what I love about Jack and his books.
I will be eagerly awaiting his next book. Maggie and the gang are always in the back of my mind. I see something happen on a TV show and thing, awe man, Maggie and the gang could have done that so much better...LOL
Wow! I finished a Gray Man book today and listened to this one, all in one day. Amazing what you can do while you’re doing a hobby you love and listen to Audible at the same time. AND both books were on human trafficking. They were both very good too.
This was the second book in the Maggie Black series. Now, this is a gal that can kick your ass. And that’s one of the things I liked about her. I also liked Leon, and the funny Ashton. And I was glad Grace was okay, and the bad guys were all arrested. I cant wait for the third book, due out in May.
There was off page sex between Maggie and Leon and the F-bomb was used 4 times.
As to the narration: Lucy Brownhill did another great job on the voices and emotions in the second of this series.
I am so enjoying this series! In this second installment, hackers have acquired the list of the Unit's agents and their whereabouts. The group is routinely releasing the name and mission of each agent to blackmail the Unit into releasing its leader from prison. Maggie Black who has walked away from the Unit and its work is now drawn back in as past and present agent's names are on this list and her life is again in danger. It's interesting to read Maggie learning to work with her friends, yet I am stunned how any of these people can recover from serious, life-threatening injuries so quickly and so well. I'll take in Installment No. 3 and see if the double crossing ex-agent Nina can be neutralized after escaping in the first book.
This was a great story and story line and plot. I really enjoyed it. Lots of action, bad guys kicking butt and is non-stop. Always something going on.
I really like Maggie Black and all the secondary characters, especially Ashton. Great Series so far and I am looking forward to the next book.
As for the narration its great! Lucy Brownhill does a fantastic job on all the voices and accents. She does a great job with the male voices too. Great reading voice and reads with emotion.
Ex unit operator Maggie Black’s European vacation vacation is cut short by her ex supervisor. The audit has been hacked and a sex trafficker has all of the Unit’s agents and missions and agents are being killed. Maggie has to look up old agent friends and find a way to stop the mayhem. Story line is not unique but the way it’s written along with the cast of characters leads to a non stop action packed thriller that I guarantee you will not be able to put down !
Maggie Black is back and better then ever! Someone had stolen the list of the Units undercover agents and giving their names out and having them murdered! Maggie left the Unit to get on with her life until she is called back in and fines out that Leon fellow agent and love of her life has not been heard from and is undercover! The race is on to find him and get him out! Jack Mcsporran has outdone himself with this book! You are so engrossed in this story that you can’t put it down!
An enjoyable addition to the Maggie Black series, which sees Maggie jet off to a whole host of new locations in order to save the unit. Narratively I felt this book was weaker than the first, with a number of predictable outcomes. The chapters which narrated deaths of superficial characters were vastly lacking and in some respects seemed out of place in the way that they deterred away from Maggie. Notwithstanding, I enjoyed the book and laughed out loud at a number of aspects.
Jack McSporran did it again with another great book about Maggie Black. If you want a book that is action packed and suspenseful from beginning to end this is definitely the book. I couldn’t put the book down once I started it. I didn’t want the story to end. Well done Jack and can’t wait for the next book.
I've read this series from the beginning and I must say these books have really taken on a whole new life. I love the interactions between all three major characters and there's background yet to come. The "Maggie Black" books are loaded with action, plot lines galore and growth that can only lead to even better stories to come.
The long awaited sequel and it was well worth the wait. Maggie has left the agency after being betrayed and is vacationing when she is summoned against her will back to London. The agency has been hacked and someone is systematically killing agents, and where is Leon? This book starts at pace and doesn't slow down well written with a number of twists and turns and a quite unexpected ending!!
I received this book as an ARC read. Jack McSporran did it again with another great book about Maggie Black. If you want a start to finish action packed book filled with suspense and non stop action this is the book for you. I couldn’t put the book down and didn’t want it to end.
From page one to the end another action packed thrilling read from the author with twists and turns throughout. Hopefully not the last we hear from Maggie even though she's supposed to be retired (I doubt it as her talents are always useful) Keep em coming we need more Maggie.
Maggie and the team are captivating from page one in the second book of the series. I love how they are developing as characters, how they are interacting with each other and how the whole thing makes sense within the story line. Can’t recommend this book enough.
Jack sure keeps the action coming! Great series. I am not sure which set of books should be read first. I read the case files first and once I started Kill Order, the stories flowed well. However, I hope there will be more books!!
I don’t read much, but I read the entire thing in under 48 hours. Action from the start, and takes you on a rollercoaster ride of countries and encounters.
This book is an excellent sequel to the the first book in the Maggie Black series which I previously read and thoroughly enjoyed. I wondered if the next in the series would be just as good. The answer...It's even better! It draws you in from the very first line and I was hooked from first page to last, so much so that I read this in one sitting.
You do not have to have read Kill Order, the first in the series, as this book is fine as a stand alone novel, but if you don't you will be missing out as it will enhance your enjoyment of this book. I can’t recommend this book or indeed the whole series enough.
Wow just finished The Hit List. It was so good I couldn’t put it down. Action packed and suspenseful. I love Jacks descriptions of all the places Maggie visits. Makes you feel like you’ve been there. Keeps you on the edge of your seat. Can’t wait for the next one.
