Lady Tricia Riley is the sweet daughter of a duke until her family's ailments force her to breech societies’ dictates and go where no lady should… the docklands. When a tall, strong and handsome stranger helps to keep her safe, she agrees to keep their meeting, secret. She’s no interest in marrying a tall and darkly handsome stranger. Actually, she has no intention of marrying at all. Instead, she plans to dedicate herself to charitable pursuits.
Ryker Pembroke, Duke of Landon, will marry eventually, as duty requires him to do. But it is a fate, he regards with a certain amount of dread. That is, until an auburn haired minx bursts into his life. Her warmth, charm and giving nature draws him to her even as he attempts to maintain a safe distance. She is entirely wrong for him with her impulsive nature and blatant disregard for her own safety makes her a terrible choice for a wife… doesn’t it?
This is a stand-alone romance with a lovely HEA! The heroine does appear in the Earl of Sussex: Wicked Earls' Club. And the books that follow will all be connected with the Earl of Sussex and his lovely bride, Tabbie.
Well I finally remembered that this novel had been on my "currently reading" list and finally got around to completing it. I had had such high hopes for this story because the heroine Trisha is the sister of the heroine from Earl of Sussex and I'd really enjoyed that novella ! This novel started off on a dramatic note, with Trisha going off on a foolish trip to the dangerous London docks because she thinks she can locate and save her cousin Fenton. Trisha was a little bit TSTL at times because she put herself in danger in order to save Fenton. She knows that her reputation will be ruined if anyone finds out about her little adventure but she's an obstinate one:
Lord Herman Longly, one of Fenton’s closest friends, and an admirer of Tricia’s, had pulled her aside. “Lady Tricia, you shouldn’t be out like this. If someone sees you, your reputation—”
“I care not,” she had cut in. His brow had furrowed.
“How were you even able to leave your home at this hour?”
“No one is paying attention of late,” she waved her hand as if to dismiss the thought.
Tammy Andresen. My Duke's Seduction (Wicked Lords of London Book 1) (Kindle Locations 23-27). Tammy Andresen. Kindle Edition.
She does get herself in trouble when she is accosted by a group of vagabonds and wannabe rapists but she is fortunate that the sexy H turns up with 2 pistols and saves her. The H is Ryker, a loner nobleman and the Duke of Landon:
He doesn't really mingle with the females in the Ton so the heroine is unaware of his true identity. I did like the immediate chemistry that was apparent between the MC's though and Ryker was fascinated by the tiny cute and mouthy redhead heroine:
He not only saves the TSTL Trisha but also helps her to rescue an abandoned baby:
He saw Tricia nod, and he nearly winced. She had put herself at risk bringing this baby here tonight. Actually she’d put herself at risk trying to find her cousin first. While the woman needed to practice some self-preservation he couldn’t help but admire her willingness to help others.
Tammy Andresen. My Duke's Seduction (Wicked Lords of London Book 1) (Kindle Locations 207-209). Tammy Andresen. Kindle Edition.
Trisha kept annoying me a bit because she'd promised Ryker that she wouldn't return to the docks yet the very next night she scampers off to that same area in search of her ne'er do well cousin. Ryker had promised to locate the cousin but she's too impatient and too stupid because she goes to the docks without any back up plan - again ! That irritated me, especially when she kept comparing herself to her big sister Tabby. Tabby had been a feisty and scheming heroine in Earl of Sussex but she hadn't been as stupid as Trisha. There were times in this novel when I wanted to clout Trisha upside her head !
The story was developing along nicely but the latter part seemed to be a bit too hastily put together. The heroine's cousin Fenton was saved off page ( by the H ) and then a new plot twist ( dealing with the search and capture of a rogue smuggling nobleman ) was introduced. I also felt that the romantic relationship between the MC's was placed on the back burner while these other issues were developed. The MC's relationship seemed to develop into "love" far too conveniently and without much effort on the part of either character. I did like seeing the H and heroine from Earl of Sussex though, since I'd been a fan of them in their novel. The romance was a bit lacking in this novel and I wished there had been more intense scenes between the MC's in the latter part of the novel. This was another novel where the first half held so much promise but the second part seemed to fizzle out as other issues were given more relative importance.
Desperate times call for desperate measures and Lady Tricia Riley’s family was desperate. Throwing caution to the wind, she broke all of society’s rules by secretly journeying to a rough and seedy area, the docklands. When the native ne’er-do-wells find easy prey, Lady Tricia is rescued by a tall, dark and handsome gentleman in a most gallant and rather swoon worthy way.
Ryker Pembroke, Duke of Landon wasn’t planning on rescuing a cultured young woman amidst the opium dens of the docklands any more than he was planning on thinking of marriage, at least not now. He also wasn’t planning on every having to see her again, but there was just “something” about her. Tricia was innocent, yet determined, warm, caring, everything he definitely didn’t need at the moment, and yet…
Tammy Andresen has done it again! MY DUKE’S SEDUCTION is another fun, fast and sweetly spicy historical romance where two souls cannot avoid the inevitable as once again, Fate steps in and plays cupid in the most delightful way! Tricia isn’t looking for a husband to control her life. She has her own plans and goals. Ryker will marry when he has to, to procure the expected heir. No one can predict if and when love arrives, and for these two, it arrives with a bang that will leave readers smiling!
I truly enjoy Ms. Andresen's romantic tales! They are filled with humor, a little daring and always, always the most delightful characters and situations!
I received a complimentary ARC edition from Tammy Andresen!
Series: Wicked Lords of London - Book 1 Publication Date: March 27, 2018 Publisher: Tammy Andresen Genre: Historical Romance Print Length: 114 pages Available from: Amazon | Barnes & Noble For Reviews, Giveaways, Fabulous Book News: http://tometender.blogspot.com
Since picking up my first Tammy Andresen book, I’ve been hooked. Consistently, Tammy Andresen has delivered fun quick reads, ensuring I was given what I wanted. With multiple series having grabbed my attention, I’m always excited when Tammy Andresen promises us something new.
Recently, Tammy Andresen offered us something new by kicking off the Wicked Earls’ Club. It’s twelve novellas by twelve different authors, and her Earl of Sussex left me excited to see what the other authors would bring to the table. More exciting was when I heard there was to be an entire spinoff series following on from Tammy Andresen’s Earl of Sussex. My Duke’s Seduction is the first book in the Wicked Lords of London spinoff series, and I’m so excited to see what it brings us.
You do not need to have read Earl of Sussex to enjoy My Duke’s Seduction, but it is nice to have the connection there. Oure leading lady was introduced to us in Earl of Sussex, and it’s nice to get to see her again. Moreover, we get to revisit the couple from Earl of Sussex, and I positively adored another glance into their story. Throughout this one I was repeatedly reminded why I love them so much – they are such a fabulous duo, one of my favourites from Tammy Andresen, and I’m so glad we got to revisit them all over again.
For those who have not read Earl of Sussex and are simply taking My Duke’s Seduction as the starting point of the Wicked Lords of London series, this is a great book. The couple are a lot of fun, another wonderful pair from Tammy Andresen. It’s very much an instalove story, but the couple are really sweet together.
As with all Tammy Andresen reads, this is a quick single sitting book. It has all you could expect from a historical romance, ensuring fans are given all they could ask for in this short read. From the very start this one grabs you, throwing you straight into the past. With a fun little storyline existing below the romance, this one leaves you intrigued to see how things will come together. With drama, wonderful characters, and some sizzle, this one has plenty to keep you entertained throughout.
Without a doubt, this was another great read from the author – there is no doubt I’ll be following the Wicked Lords of London series, as this one has left me super excited for more.
This was yet another sweet and short story by the author (120 pages). Due to the length of the book, there was no deep connection, angst or chemistry. However, having said that, I finished it nevertheless as it's quite interesting. Something that you'd gobbled up in an hour or so. Lovely read I must say.
Ryker - a handsome duke - was out in the dockland looking for a man who's been stealing from him one night. Unbeknownst to him, a beautiful and proper lady was out on her own looking for her cousin. What was a good lady doing out here in the middle of the night on her own no less? So he did the only thing a gentleman would do; save her and send her to her home. Tricia, the said lady, had no compunction about being ruined - for she had no intention of getting married. But when she saw how good the man sitting in front of her was (and brave ... and handsome), she began to have second thoughts. What would it be like to be married, to be cherished and loved by a man as strong as him.
My Duke's Seduction by Tammy Andresen is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. Andresen has once again delivered a well-written historical romance and loaded it with amazing, lovable characters. Tricia is found by Ryker in a seedy part of London and rescues her from a bit of trouble she's landed in. Their story is action-packed and full of drama, humor and sexy bits. Once again Ms. Andresen has hooked me at page one and kept me glued to my kindle until the end. I loved reading My Duke's Seduction and look forward to my next book by Tammy Andresen. My Duke's Seduction is book 1 of the Wicked Lords of London Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was nice a read. It was nicely done even though I prefer to have more Ryker's and Tricia's moment. Another series I'll have to fit in my long list of books. Most of the story was told in the blurb. I got the feeling that some of the characters were from another series. But, it didn't ruined the story as it focus more on Ryker and Tricia. There were funny part especially regarding the potted plant. Does a potted plant really make a good hideout?
A fun romantic read that features dockside shenanigans, orphanages/babies, women who speak their mind and do what they want and a duke and an earl that try to reign them in but just cannot. No humble and pious courting allowed. Get a cup of tea and enjoy this Sunday afternoon read.
I found this a really good book. Tricia is a really strong character. The Duke of Landon saves her at the docks twice. They fall in love very quickly over only a few days.
These "Wicked Lords of London" are a sweet, easy aperitif. I think they are all about 150 pages. Again, if you need a little palate cleanser, before the next book, here you go.
I was originally going to rate this at least a 3.5 but had to take off the half star because no way did "My Duke's Seduction" live up to its predecessor, the "Earl of Sussex".
This book was heavy on the adventure and less on the relationship and romance between the main characters-- Ryker Pembroke, Duke of Landon and Lady Tricia Riley.
Even though the characters were likable there just wasn't enough here to engage me emotionally. I needed a build-up, something that sparked, a push and pull of attraction but the foundation although filled with potential just fell flat.
Not that I mind a bit of adventure or mystery surrounding a romance novella but I read romance for romance! For the things that make my heart flutter and make my pulse quicken.
The sexy is sorely lacking and you don't get any until the very last bit of this read and it's just meh. I think I had to check my own pulse to make sure I was alive.
Although the Earl of Coventry is mentioned, his role in this story seemed detached and it felt as if he were just used as a spurious extra. Disappointing.
We do, however, get nice doses of Luke and Tabitha, the beloved MC's from the previous book.
After a promising start to this series, this one fizzled for me.
Hoping book #2,"My Duke's Deception" in "The Wicked Lords of London" series returns to the reason WHY I read romance novels!
In this well written Regency romance, the reader is taken on an adventurous ride as Lady Trica attempts to emulate her braver and more daring sister in an attempt to rescue her cousin. She finds herself in the underbelly of London, and despite her fear, charges in where angels fear to tread. She is rescued by the hero of the story, Ryker, Duke of Landon, who is partly furious with her for interfering with his purpose for the evening, and partly beguiled by the innocent miss. Ryker doesn’t intend seeing Trica again, but when events once again find both of them in the Docklands, Ryker gives up his resolution to avoid society ladies and begins his pursuit of Trisha. This is a short, clean read, but full of action, daring deeds, humour and best of all, romance. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This was a very entertaining read. Lady Tricia Riley was such a fearless person when on a quest to help her cousin. She was a very caring person. Ryder, the Duke of Landon was a likeable character too. Although he was quite different from Tricia, they did have an attraction to each other but as they are so different will it work? There is another suitor to add mischief. The Earl of Sussex and his wife Tabbie (Tricia’s sister) also make an appearance in the book. I look forward to reading the next in the series. It’s a story I was able to read in an evening and it will leave you with a smile on your face.
My Duke’s Seduction, Book 1 of the Wicked Lords of London series, was about Lady Patricia "Tricia" Riley, second daughter of the Duke of Waverly, and Ryker Pembroke, Duke of Landon. Tricia, desperate to locate her missing cousin Lord Fenton "Fin" Allstar, the Earl of Dryden, was told he might be found at the docklands. Surreptitiously wandering the docks seeking any information she could find, her nerves were growing taut. While there, she ran into a bit of trouble, only to be rescued by the Duke. Ryker, at the docklands on his own business, abandoning the pursuit for information, reluctantly offered to help her locate her cousin...so long as she agreed to go back where it was safe. Once he had escorted her home, Ryker dwelled on the possibility that Tricia just might be the woman he needed to fill the role of his duchess. While he wasn't one prone to feelings, he felt marrying Tricia would make a good business deal. The longer the two spent together, though, the stronger the feelings grew between them. Danger lurked around every corner and the further the book progressed, the worse it got. When Tricia and her sister, Tabby (from the Earl of Sussex book), were taken by villains, both Ryker and Luke, Tabby's husband, were enraged and hurried to save them. This story had tons of angst, drama, intrigue, and more than just a bit of danger. But the humor was off the charts. The characters were well developed and the storyline had a firm foundation. This was definitely a great start to the series.
*I was gifted an ARC Copy of this book, by the author, in exchange for my fair and honest review.*
In this thrilling novella, we meet the meek and humble Tricia Riley. A lady by birth who has always been the obedient daughter that her rank would demand. But when family illness is thrust upon her, Tricia must go out of her social confines and find her cousin... this journey brings her to the one place that a lady should never go (play ominus music now) the docklands. During a run in with some riff-raff, the beautiful heroine is saved by the dashing Duke of Landon... Ryker Pembroke. Ryker is, as I stated before, completely dashing and everything that a young lady might look for in a husband. That is if the lady were in pursuit of such a match, but Lady Tricia isn't interested in marriage. Instead she wishes to devote her life to the care of orphans. Ryker, on the other hand, MUST marry. His station demands that he provide the obiligitory heir and a spare. He never expected to find the greatest love of his life, so he's determined that any well bred lady will do. That is until he meets Lady Tricia Riley... after that his entire world is turned upside down.
My Duke's Seduction is a quick read, perfect for those with limited time! It's a follow up to Tammy Andresen's novella, "THE DUKE OF SUSSEX" and the first book in a new series from the bestselling author. This book doesn't dissappoint, filled with some action, romance and just the right amout of steam!
A charming unconventional courtship Oh, how I love the Riley sisters! They are independent women who speak their mind and have no fear. (Older sister Tabbie had her story in Earl of Sussex, a fav of mine) Tricia’s calling in life is helping those who needed it. She is sweet, honest, and direct. She has no regard for her safety or society rules as she puts needs of others before her own. She would never be happy just being a man’s wife, she needed to help others. Ryker is somewhat a recluse preferring to keep to himself, rarely socializing. After coming across Tricia and saving her down by the docks, he finds that she continues to needs his rescuing as she finds herself in more situations. She has him wrapped around her finger without either one of them being aware of it. This couple is a lot of fun and while neither had marriage plans in their near future they make the perfect match. My Duke’s Seduction is a wonderful historical romance read that is fun, fast, sweet with a little spice and drama. Tammy Andresen consistently delivers a well-written story that leaves you with a smile.
Lady Tricia Riley is the sweet daughter of a duke until her family's ailments force her to breech societies’ dictates and go where no lady should. That is, until an auburn haired minx bursts into his life. This was a lovely read, which I read in a sitting. The plot is very well paced & kept me turning the pages. The characters are very well fleshed for a novella I liked both Ryker & Tricia their attraction was immediate, with Tricia wrapping Ryker round her finger from the start & he loved it. I was looking forward to Tricia’s story after reading Tabbie’s story, which I’d recommend. I look forward to more in the series
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Once again Tammy Andresen has written a gem of a story!
Lady Tricia Riley is set on becoming a spinster, she has her orphanages to keep her happy and busy. She needs to find her cousin who’s been missing and she’s worried sick over him. Following a lead she travels to the dockside, a place no society lady let alone a Dukes daughter should ever venture. She finds herself in peril but she’s saved by a tall dark and handsome stranger whose voice is liquid heat in her veins, and one she means to keep a secret. Until they meet again in the company of her sister Tabby and her husband Luke. Ryker is a Duke whose also a recluse and on a mission to undercover a group of jewel thieves. He’s not looking for a wife until he meets Tricia and she’s the only thing on his mind. Lots of adventure and a quick witty banter keep you entertained, you have sexy heroes, damsels in distress adventure and a nefarious plot of kidnapping. Highly enjoyable and I recommend this and all of Tammy Andresen’s books they’re highly addictive.
I received a complimentary copy from the author. This is my honest unbiased opinion.
This story was entertaining from beginning to end, but what else would you expect from a Tammy Andresen book? What was great is that it is story that contains a character from the The Earl of Sussex in the popular Wicked Earls series. Our heroine, Lady Trisha Riley's life had seemed somewhat ideal until her cousin went missing. Setting out on her own, she ends up in a very dangerous side of town at the docks. Of course that is no place for a lady and trouble soon confronts her but she is lucky to be rescued by none other than Ryker, Duke of Pembroke. Of course he was disguised as a commoner due to trying to find someone and comes upon Trisha. From here on out after their initial meeting, Ryker could not get his thoughts off her and what follows is a story with touches of intrigue, a little danger and of course romance. Even though a shorter story it is an enjoyable read that you will be glad you picked up. Cannot wait for more tales from the Wicked Lords of London Series!!
This is the first book I have read of Ms Andersen and received it as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. My honest review of this book is that I will reading many more of her books. It had me from page 1 and I found it hard to put down. What I like about this book, there was not the usual cloths and setting description which I find often takes up too much time when all you want to know what is going to happen next. And there was plenty happening. There was adventure, mystery and of course romance. Even though this is the first in the series, I wish I had read The Earl of Sussex (The Wicked Earl’s Club) first, which is the story about Tricia’s sister Tabby. They are both fiery daughters of a Duke who does not like fitting into society and would prefer to be wallflowers. It is a standalone book and very well written. It is a quick and easy read and the sex is short and sweet, which for this reviewer is even better. Well worth the read.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 💋💋 This is great , a new series, and a continuation of Tammy’s Wicked Earls book that featured The Earl Of Sussex . I read this with high expectations after ‘Sussex ‘, and I wasn’t disappointed, it has everything. It’s a wonderful romance , with Ryker and Tricia . He’s a Duke , a bit of a recluse , but he spends in evenings at the docks looking for jewel thieves, what he finds is a young Lady who’s looking for her cousin and has found trouble . The story moves quickly and at no point leaves you bored , in fact by the end your wishing for more . With the secondary characters in this one being The Earl Of Sussex (Luke ) , and his wife, (Tabby )who is Trisha’s sister, this is so familiar and gives a real pleasant feeling when reading it . Their brothers story is next , go teddy ! I read an advanced copy of this book and chose to submit a review
This a lovely quick story that is a great start to a new series. Their first meeting was very different and led to a mystery that I couldn't figure out and a whirlwind romance. I loved how they were with each other from the moment they met. They were perfect for each other. This story will hook you on wanting to know what else will happen in the series.
Tricia is on a mission and no one will stop her. I loved that she was the quiet daughter but quickly showed her true colors. She thought she knew exactly what she wanted to do in her life. I loved her from the start because she didn't run from anything.
Ryker is a mysterious man that keeps to himself and does a great job at finding people. He quickly made his mind up about her and would do anything to protect her. I loved him right away because he is not the typical Duke.
Ryker Pembroke, Duke of Landon,in disguise as a commoner, is hunting for a thief in the docklands (a seedy part of London) that has been stealing from him when he rescues Lady Trisha Riley from a group of drunks & from social ruin being there unchaperoned in the late of night. (Trisha appeared in a previous book, Earl of Sussex, Wicked Earls' Club Series as the younger sister of Tabbie, who is married to the Lucas, the Earl of Sussex.) This book was a short & quick read but still long enough to get to know the characters & enjoy Trisha & Ryker's interactions with drama, suspense, humor, family love & a HEA! I was gifted this ARC & I highly recommend this book & cannot wait for Book #2 in the series, My Duke's Deception!
Oh Ryker might be my new book boyfriend. He's titled, and I mean titled. He has plenty of money. Very handsome. Single. And did I mention that he's not much for your standard debutante? And protective. That's some serious attractiveness, so I can see why in the book he doesn't like social occasions. The women would absolutely drown him in an effort to attempt to garner his attention. Instead, a woman who doesn't seem to know how to keep her reputation intact is who draws his attention. Tricia is a good woman. She cares deeply for others, including orphans. She has a natural mother instinct. And she has no regard for her reputation when it comes to caring for and keeping her family safe. I loved their story and love the title of the series!
Charming! My Duke’s Seduction by Tammy Andresen is book 1 in the Wicked Lords Of Love series and what a way to begin a series! I loved this story and Tammy has such a wonderful way of bringing her characters to life plus so visual. This is an easy to read story and I read it in one sitting. The story has theft, kidnapping, fights, bravery, kindness, caring, sharp tongues, love of family, stealing, protectiveness, an auction, greed, scandal and of course love. I highly recommend this book and any of Tammy Andresen’s books, they are truly wonderful! Travel back to 1816 London, England with Lady Tricia Riley and Ryker The Duke of Landon.
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
My Duke's Seduction (Wicked Lords of London Book 1) by Tammy Andresen is an exciting new series by this talented author. A novella, only approximately 114 pages, but the author conveys alot in these pages Well written story with intrigue, a romance, danger. wit, a bit of humor and a HEA. Steady paced, sweet romance, that will keep the reader turning pages. I was captivated my the characters and the plot of MY DUKE'S SEDUCTION. A new series with cross-over characters and what promises to be a great Regency Romance. Another well developed and thought out story. Ms. Andresen offers her readers so mych mych than great characters, but also great, seductive storylines. Another great Regency Romance from Tammy Andresen.
Tricia and Ryker's story is my favorite in the Mad About Dukes anthology. Tricia has always been known as the sweet one in her family with her older sister Tabbie having a penchant for finding trouble, but Tricia is out to one up her sister in that category as this story gets started! Ryker has to save her from trouble almost immediately in the docklands. Although they strive to keep things somewhat anonymous given the highly improper nature of their meeting, they fail miserably. Ryker has a dangerous mission that he must see through, and his sudden attraction to Tricia is inconvenient at best but it cannot be denied. All in all, this was a very entertaining read with elements of suspense and humor as they find an unexpected love match.
Loved it! I had a hard time putting this book down to do anything! I ended up staying up really late to just to finish, but have no regrets! This is a fantastic story! Tammy Andresen sure knows how to write fun, captivating characters and bring them to life. All the characters are interesting and strong characters that demand your attention. The writing just sucks you in. I do find myself curious about Trisha's cousin, Lord Fenton Allstar. I would like to hear more about him, he seems like an intriguing character. If you are looking for a good story that draws you in from the first page, this is the perfect one!
The romance is so sweet between Ryker and Tricia. Ryker is very helpful and patient despite the fact Tricia is found in a potentially compromising position at the dock lands. His willingness to aid a complete stranger at the cost of his own agenda endeared him to me.
I also enjoyed the mystery surrounding Ryker’s missing shipments. I thought it added a certain twist to the story that I haven’t seen in the historical romances I have read so far.
Another twist was Tricia’s sister and husband. I liked how they were incorporated in the story. Their characters balanced out Ryker and Tricia’s romance.
