Angela Raines is the pen name for Doris McCraw. Doris is an author, historian, performer, speaker and poet. She moved from the historically rich region of West Central Illinois to the equally history rich Colorado. Many of her works focus on the history that has surrounded her all her life. Her stories are action, adventure and romance as the characters work their way through the challenges to their Happy Ever After, even if implied. An avid reader Doris also loves to spend time in history archives, either online, in history centers, or local libraries, looking for small, unknown pieces of history. Usually these found gems are in her books, short stories, blogs and non-fiction papers written for publications. She also has a continuing project of documenting the women doctors who lived, studied and worked in Colorado prior to 1900.
Doris writes in both the Medieval and Western Romance. She considers they both fall under Historicals although she loves the Western genre. All eras have extraordinary histories that just beg to be told. Sometimes Doris thinks the 'muse' may be asking too much, but then smiles and digs right in. The results? Stay tuned after reading the stories she currently has available.
You can also find her non-fiction on Amazon in the Pikes Peak Library District's books: Disasters of the Pikes Peak Region (Regional History Series), Film and Photography on the Front Range (Regional History Series)

I LOVE the premise of this book!! Love knows no boundaries! I love how this series is all connected to the Bavarian Jeweler but drastically as different as the array of authors are!!
I waited to get the updated version of this story without the errors, so I can say it was a great tale of romance and intrigue. It started with Edwin being lured to a town dominated by a gang of thugs out for something they think Edwin has the key to, but he denies. I enjoyed his romantic pursuit of Mary, a woman he has loved since he was a young man. Like many in his time, he enlisted in the Civil War, and never shared his feelings to her then. I enjoyed how the author brought out that the Civil War continued to affect lives even decades after it ended.
The motif of Lockets and Lace had this avid reader intrigued and this romance was with a more mature couple. I enjoy alliteration in titles. Most of the romances in this delightful series included interesting historical tidbits of the settling of pioneers in the Wild West. This romance fell short, especially with editing. NOT sure WHY - missing punctuation and incorrect usage of verb tense and word choice. Struggled through the first 16 chapter / 31 in all.
Angela Raines continues the Lockets & Lace series with an action packed story of love, loss, friendship and mystery. There are several intriguing characters that I really enjoyed getting to know.
While I have enjoyed the other books in this series, I cannot say the same for this one, The use of profanity in this book turns me off and makes me question whether I will read any more books in this series or not.
Edwin- older loved the one person all his life Mary- running a store in a dangerous town. This story is was slow at 1st, but had a good ending if not a bit overdramatic. Their story has a good HEA.
