The McIntyre Security Bodyguard Series - Box Set 1

Fall in love with the characters of the McIntyre Security Bodyguard series! Find out why so many readers are addicted to this series.

Book 1: Vulnerable

Beth Jamison had a rough start in life. She survived a childhood abduction, but her emotionally traumatic past still haunts her, and she suffers from anxiety and issues with intimacy. She doesn't know it, but the man who kidnapped her has just been released early from prison. Now she has secret bodyguards keeping her safe 24/7.

When CEO Shane McIntyre meets Beth, their mutual attraction is instant and intense, and Shane falls hard for Beth. Shane has his work cut out for him if he’s going to gain her trust before it’s too late. This alpha protector is determined to keep Beth safe and make her his.

Book 2: Fearless

Beth Jamison - Since childhood, I’ve lived under a shadow of fear and anxiety, afraid to trust anyone. All that changed when I met Shane. He's my lover, my protector, and my best friend. He's also my avenger. He taught me to cope with my fears. He gave me the courage to let someone in. But the threat’s still out there, and it’s coming back for me. I know Shane won’t let him get me this time, but at what cost? I can’t lose Shane. I just can’t.

Book 2.5: Shane (a novella)

Shane is a 26,000-word novella that retells the ending of Fearless from Shane's point of view, plus some additional material. Shane McIntyre will do anything to protect the love of his life. Even kill a monster. When convicted kidnapper Howard Kline comes after Beth Jamison to exact revenge for his two decades spent in prison, Shane will be waiting for him, ready to put an end to Beth's nightmare once and for all.

Book 3: Broken

Lia McIntyre - As a 22-year-old female professional bodyguard, Lia’s a rarity in a male-dominated field. She may be a petite, cute blond, but she’s a master of martial arts and Krav Maga, and she can render a man twice her size unconscious in just seconds. Lia hides a painful past behind a snarky, take-no-prisoners attitude. She was horribly betrayed by her first love, and she’s determined never to let anyone use her or hurt her again. To make sure that never happens again, she’s got rules. One, never sleep with a client. And two, never sleep with the same guy twice. The walls she’s built up to protect herself are rock solid. Until she meets her new client, Jonah Locke, a swoon-worthy rock star with a heart of gold.

Jonah Locke -
Jonah Locke is the front man for the most popular rock band in the United States. His band dominates the charts, and he’s constantly hounded by crowds of fan-girls and paparazzi. The guy can’t sneeze without everyone on social media knowing. A bad break-up with the Queen of Pop sends him from LA to Chicago, where he just wants to lie low and write new songs. Unfortunately, trouble follows him to Chicago. When he meets his new bodyguard, he falls hard for her. But lust transforms into something more when he gets to know the woman beneath the kick-ass shell.

Umm...

Since this review is for a box set (4 books), it may be kinda long. I apologize in advance.

Also, it's taken me a little while to read, so I may be a little fuzzy on some of the details.

Vulnerable and Fearless were about Shane McIntyre and Beth Jamison. Shane is the CEO of McIntyre Security. His firm was hired by Tyler Jamison to provide protection for his sister, Beth. Eighteen years ago, when Beth was 6 years old, she was kidnapped by a man named Howard Kline. Instead of serving his entire 30-year sentence, Kline is out... and Tyler fears Kline will go after Beth again.

The first two books deal with this. Since I like a little drama or suspense in my romance reads, this appealed to me. The actual writing of these stories... not so much.

My annoyance with the many typos is a given, so I won't dwell on that. There was also a lot of redundancy in the writing. (I didn't make any particular note of these instances, so you'll just have to trust my ranting.)

I like a little of the sneaky freaky as much as the next person, but I am not exaggerating when I say all these two do for two books is have sex. I got so tired of reading about it, I started skipping over it. The thing that made those scenes even more painful and less sexy to read? The fact that the author kept using the entire word "cl!toris." In the 40-some-odd chapters of Vulnerable, she shortened that word, like, only four times. It's probably quite minor, but it got on my nerves. And I know there aren't a whole lot of words for female genitalia that authors use, but this author kept referring to "her tissues." WTF?! I was wondering if her c00ch was made of Kleenex.

One other thing I didn't like... No, scratch that. I didn't like Beth and there was more than one reason why. A big one was her insecurity. If I had to read one mo' time about how she didn't know why Shane wanted her, or what he saw in her, or how she wasn't his usual type... UGH!! Another thing I didn't like was this case of Super B!tch Syndrome she came down with (mostly in Fearless). This chick who is trained in nothing, who is afraid of the dark (and, given what happened to her, I can give it to her as rightly so), and who is prone to panic attacks (that don't necessarily have anything to do with her ordeal) decides she's going to be "Billie Bad@ss" and go along with Shane on a job "in case something happens to him." And what exactly, pray tell, is she going to do if sh...stuff... goes down? Get hurt? Or get somebody else hurt because she's a distraction? GTFOH!

I wish authors would stop writing these female characters. They annoy me down to the marrow in my bones.

The third book, Shane, is a novella that tells the end of Fearless from Shane's POV, plus a little extra. Nothing really to talk about.

My favorite was the fourth book, Broken. This one was about Lia McIntyre, the youngest of the seven McIntyre siblings and one of Shane's employees. Unlike Beth, Lia really is a bad@ss. She's trained in several martial arts and she works as a bodyguard in the security company. Plus she's a little snarky and sarcastic, which I kinda love.

Having gone through a devastating experience as a teenager, 22-year-old Lia doesn't date, doesn't do relationships, and doesn't trust men. Shane decides go play matchmaker for his little sister and assigns Lia to guard sexy rock start Jonah Locke. It was probably the best and worst thing to happen to Lia in a long time.

Like I said, this was my favorite of the set. I really, really liked Lia and Jonah together.

I'm going to try my luck with the next box set...

Amazing read

Love this boxset. This boxset has 4 books:
* Book 1 & 2 are the first two books of Shane and Beth’s romance story. Beth was abducted when she was 6 yrs old from her front yard. Her abductor was sentenced to 30 yrs in prison but he got out after 18 yrs. Beth’s brother, Tyler hired Shane’s Security business to see if Beth’s abductor is going to be a threat to her and to protect Beth. Shane ended up breaking protocol and he ended up engaging his client. Since he first met her, Beth has caught his eyes.
* Book 2.5 is from Shane’s POV. His book shares some of the major parts of book 2, Fearless. This book highlights Shane spending the night in jail Shane killing Beth’s abductor, earlier in the day when Shane took Beth to dinner, and their engagement. This book adds on Beth and Shane’s engagement party and Shane playing matchmaker between Lia and Jonah.
* Book 4 is Lia and Jonah’s romance story. Shane’s business is hired to protect Jonah, a famous musician. Since Jonah and Lia were first introduced, Shane noticed that Jonah has a little crush on Lia. So Jonah ends up having Lia become Jonah’s full time bodyguard, which at first she didn’t like. Love this whole boxset. Worth the read

Weak...*Spoilers*

Beth gets on my nerves. She is clueless, weak and submissive to the point of ridiculousness. Shane is way too controlling. I kept wishing she would really stand up for herself with him or her brother, who acts like he owns her and really needed to back way the heck off, but she never really did. The main bad guy barely makes an appearance and it’s over. All of that buildup about him for nothing.

Jonah is a pushover. The ending of that last story is quite unsatisfying. No resolution or punishment for the baddies there (because of the rash and stupid actions of a main character). I skimmed through a ton of unnecessary filler as well. I kept hoping for better and was disappointed.

so far ok

I do like these books and storylines, however, I got very frustrated reading how week and childlike Beth was and still is. I really believe a stronger character for Beth is warranted. Yes she had a scary childhood issue, but get over it. Rise up to be a stronger person. She has no cannons and allows her brother and Vanessa to push her around with absolutely no resistance. I am going to continue to read the next box set, and hope for stronger characters including Beth if she reappears.

A great collection

This was a great start to the series, and I'm looking forward to seeing where it will go from here.
The only things that I had issues with was the constant changing of the POV's without any indication of the changes, and there was a lot of repetition. (Mostly about the previous stories, things that were said/thoughts/etc.. Sometimes even more than once about the same subjects.)
Overall it was a great book that I enjoyed.
I would recommend this book, series, and author.

This Family is Amazing!

I always wanted older brothers growing up, and in addition to the family members’ love interests, you can really feel the love they have for each other. I love how the brothers and sisters are always there for each other. These books make you want to be part of this family! Ms. Wilson does a good job developing lovable characters! Highly recommend! Can’t wait to read more!!

Could have been less than 24 hrs

I think I would have enjoyed this better if the redundancy wasn’t there. It’s almost like it is copy and paste. At least 25% or more is redundant- which is frustrating. Another 25% is sex. While I’m on with sex - there are whole chapters on one night of sex and mostly it’s the same acts (again redundant). As for the remaining 50% - I liked the characters and their stories.
There are a few editing issues that I highlighted.

McIntyre Security Bodyguard Series Box Set 1 is by April Wilson. The box set contains the first four books in the series. It makes it much easier to start the series and be able to really get into it without having to wait for the next in the series to come out. You get to know the characters well and it keeps things in numerical order. It gives you a good chance to see if you will like the series. If you do, you can pick up the next box or stop reading the series immediately

Hot Hot Hot!

Compelling and exciting as these stories are, they are also emotionally satisfying as well. The characters are well developed, and the romances are gut-wrenchingly real. I couldn't help but fall for every single character, wanting to know them better and better. Well done!!!

What can I say? These books are fantastic! I didn't want to put them down. The McIntyre bunch is full of swoon worthy alpha males and one kick ass female. April Wilson leads you through the stories and makes you think you are right there as everything is happening. I am already half way through the next book in the series and loving every minute of it. A must read!!

Absolutely great box set

First time reading an April Wilson book and I definitely will be reading all of her other books. Lots of action, suspense and romance in all the books. Shane and Beth grabbed my heart and attention with their story and Lia and Jonah showed that being strong isn't always about physical strength. Highly recommend this box set for a weekend read.

Great books

I enjoyed the books about Beth and Shane more then the book about Lia. The male character was not impressive to me and the book seems like a shortened version of another book? I liked the story line but there was no zing! I would recommend this box set to anyone who likes a alpha bodyguard story line.

Definitely recommend.

I love the heroes and heroines in this series. They totally kick ass and take name. They completely protect what's there's, rather it be a sibling, a mate, or a friend.

There are a few editing issues that need fixed, but honestly the plots are so good you can overlook it. It literally sucks you into the story.

Super Story

Underneath all the copulation is a romantic story that includes action and the model boyfriend or could it act turn into something more? The story is built with such strong characters that you want to continue just to find out what happens to the supporting people of the series and family.

Good series

I am a fan of series books and was excited to find these books as there are numerous box sets. I like how they are all connected but it felt repetitive at times. The writing isn't all that great but the storylines were interesting so I kept reading but skip a lot and find myself rolling my eyes at the over used phrases and words.

Best series ever!

I love that Ms Wilson has done these up as a group. Her books aren’t afraid to test and/or touch every emotion possible. You find yourself suddenly laughing out loud or having to wipe your eyes. And every book is a great reread. Happy reading!

Ahhhhhhhh

Better than rich chocolate cake, the finest cheesecake --- you get the picture. While each book is great alone, together they are fulfilling. Both the stories of Liz and Beth find strong woman facing ghosts in their lives with the help of the great men in their lives.
