Duncan has finally found his life's purpose-rescue trafficked children-while Detective Nickie Savage still seeks closure.
In Lima, Peru, following a lead discovered on a mole's computer, Nickie and Duncan are undercover as traffickers. The infiltrate the compound. Rescue the children. Blow the place up.
Then Nickie goes radio silent. Recognized by the man who abducted her as a child, she's once again in his hands. And this time, escape is not an option.
R.T. was born and raised in the Midwest, the youngest of six children. She married at a young age and decided early on she wanted a family herself. With three small boys in tow, she and her husband flipped two houses with R.T. in charge of the landscape design and install. Now, she is rooted in the final home they designed inside and out.
Now that her boys are nearly grown, R.T. spends much of her time on the road traveling from one sporting event to another serving as mom and cheerleader. When at home, she enjoys Pilates, working with her Golden Retriever and digging in the glorious dirt of her landscaping plots.
During one of many busy and restless nights, R.T.’s first novel began to pluck its way onto her laptop. It was a drug, an instant addiction that only grew with time. Moments borrowed and stolen at her laptop are, now, between all of the travel and work and many of those busy, restless nights. After several edits, revisions and versions later R.T.’s first novel, Black Creek Burning, was published by Crimson Romance on September 24th.
R.T. has been honored to be in the top 5 of the Goodreads New Authors to Read list, a guest on USA Today's Happy Ever After blog and my trailer is nearing 1,000 hits. The book has earned a 4.8 star rating on Amazon.
SAVAGE APPLAUSE FOR THIS SERIES!!! I was both dying to get this book, and dreading reading it, as I knew it was the last in the Nickie Savage Series. Who would want to say goodbye to the people that R.T. Wolfe has written into life? But I have to say, this is the most satisfying end to a series that I've ever read. It was all just right. The kind of right that has you saying, "Yes," in your head as you read.
Of course it had all of the wonderful characters from her earlier work, and the beautiful writing, as well. Lines like, when a friend talked about him losing everything in the fire, Duncan thinking his everything was coming around the corner in the form of Nickie. The usual, magical chemistry between Duncan and Nickie was present, along with the heart-stopping action and suspense.
Everything was just as it should be. So instead of feeling disappointed when I read that last page, I felt a warm closure. I was glad I got to read the end of Nickie and Duncan's story.
And, thankfully, while there will be no more Nickie Savage books gracing my shelves, there will be more Island Secret books to come. I loved the first in this R.T. Wolfe series and am as anxious for the next as I was for the Savage series. Keep writing, R.T., and I'll keep reading. :)
This book reminded me of the saying, quit while you’re ahead. It was tough getting through books 4 and 5 because I felt they were drawn out and a lot of the action was repetitive. The story should have concluded with one good story in book 4.
This book was all over the place. It was back and forth from Peru to the different cities in the US. It felt like every character from the beginning was brought into this story as the finale. It was tough following because of the location changes and all the characters that I lost interest in tracking.
Then there were many things that happened that were out of character. Duncan and Andy are intelligent men on every front yet the actions in Peru were not believable for these two men. Chances that Nickie took at different times were not at all smart. The fact that Gloria, Gil, and Nathan went to Peru on this mission was absolutely ridiculous.
As the series winds to an end, Nickie faces more obstacles than one could envisage, but Duncan is right there with her the whole way through. Having read most of the books in this series, one can feel Nickie's frustrations at the stumbling blocks thrown in her way when she reaches for the ultimate climax to the almost never ending case. Through it all Duncan hovers over her, making her case his, protecting her and keeping her safe. Until he doesn't. When Nickie falls into the hands of her enemy once more, I experienced her fear and for a while I was convinced that she had overplayed her hand. I keep falling in love with Duncan, the gentle giant who has his own demons that he is facing. If only this were the end of the story, the world would be a better place to live. However, it is a sad state of affairs that human trafficking, especially in children, is as rampant today as it ever was. My heart is heavy as I close this book, knowing that tonight there are children who won't be safely tucked up in bed, but who will be subjected to unimaginable atrocities. However, for the purposes of this review, I was so happy that this novel ended on a positive note. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.
In this series R. T. Wolfe writes with power and persuasion about the damages of human trafficking and the good people who fight the battle of saving some of the children sacrificed to its worst. I love the relationships portrayed--real, passionate, loving, courageous and true light that overcomes the ugliness of this dark practice. This theme is painful but ends in a hopeful manner and is well worth the read. I have read two of her books and recommend them highly. Ms. Wolfe writes with grace and style and educates her readers in the process. Absolutely great reading if you want what you read to touch your heart!

Savage Alliance is the last in the series and there was suspense right to the end. I became so invested in the book that I became frustrated with -- and spoke to -- some of the characters. I even shouted at Jun Zheng toward the end of the book. My husband had to remind me that it's just a story. The ending was satisfying and it is with a heavy heart that I say good-bye to these characters. 😢💔 The Nickie Savage Series is definitely the best romantic suspense series that I've read in 2017.
Duncan and Nickie now working together, rescuing children. The more they save, the more closure it was for her. Would she ever be free, or would she be captured again. Duncan is special, he is there for her, protecting her, holding her when nightmares come. For him, she is the reason to paint,to live. They plan now on where to live, a child at home, bringing more as they rescue. A great ending of the boys, who saw Duncan as a special person, hugging and hanging on as if they knew, he was bringing life and joy to them. A great series, and memories of reading will linger.
I've really enjoyed this series and I'm sorry to see it end. It brought to light a subject that I had very little knowledge of...child trafficking. But there was also the joy of Nickie and Duncan finding love. This last book takes us on quite a ride as Nickie and Duncan close in on the trafficking ring that abducted Nickie when she was a child....and the ending is sweet and very satisfying. I'm looking forward to the next journey that Ms. Wolfe takes us on!
I really enjoyed this series and am sorry to see it end. I loved the conclusion of the story line regarding Nickie's abduction. I also enjoyed the way Duncan and Nickie's relationship developed and the short glimpse into their future. There were a couple of editing/continuity issues or I would have given the book 5 stars.
The Nickie Savage series is one of the best I've read! I love her character! She's strong and hides her vulnerability. Duncan is the perfect hero. He knows Nickie like nobody else does and loves her completely and unconditionally. He has dedicated himself to helping her in her fight against child sex traffickers. I've loved reading each of the Nickie Savage books and am sorry to see the series end. I heartily recommend this series to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense with some pulse pounding moments!
