Rabbit Legacy, Book Two in the Rabbit Trilogy, ends with the heroic defeat of Rufus, a terrifying Rakum with the power to destroy Rakum and human alike. However, no one knew the tremendous evil that was yet to come in a small boy named Isaac Akaron, called The Last, and an even more wicked creature known as Ta'avah.

In this allegory about good and evil, Ellen Maze's tale demonstrates how our own battle with our flesh and spirit, our goodness and yes, even our evil, often leave us questioning ourselves and God's will. We know God can protect us, but our flesh tells us He won't and we often give in to the evil within us. However, as Maze's story reminds us, God inside us can defeat the evil that yearns to break free from the One who holds it at bay.

Allegiance among Rakum and former Rakum grows as they work together to defeat evil. As evil is defeated and the Rakum are transforming, there is still an evil lurking just on the edges. Part IV, "Anomaly", will open our eyes just a little more and we will come to grips with the truth that God wants us all to come to Him and is biding His time until we all see the truth.

Although the genre of Christian horror seems to be an anomaly in itself, I have seen God use it to bring light into His ways more than any other genre. The fact that evil exists in this world should make us desire to know how to defeat it. Writers who delve into this genre correctly, as Maze does, can open our eyes to how God views the world, its people, His people and His ways.

I had a little trouble following this at first because it had been quite a while since I read the first two books. The author helpfully put a list of names and their characters on the front, and if I were better at names, I would have slipped more easily into the book. The beautiful Rakum, which are this close to vampires, are still engaged in what amounts to a civil war. Killing people still does not even merit a shrug, unless the person is a Cow that the Master has grown fond of. The new leader of the Rakum, Isaac, is insanely evil beyond even what the average Rakum is, having been possessed by a demon. Both Rakum and ex-Rakum join in the battle to defeat the possessed leader. If you like supernatural stories of spiritual warfare and vampires, you should like this easy-to-read and exciting novel.
