The Four-Twenty Group: An Advertising Agency

Rate this book
It was a crazy idea -- but they were desperate. Two seasoned, out-of-work ad execs, Steven Gainsley, a drunk and Brian Forbes, a fastidious twit, had hatched a plan. They were going to form the first advertising agency to promote marijuana and in the process, concoct an improbable scheme to coerce Congress into legalizing the stuff. Their plan seemed simple enough. They would organize the pot growers in a sleepy valley in Northern California into becoming the Napa Valley of marijuana cultivation. As they would soon discover, this would lead head-long into a comical corporate and counter-culture clash. But through the comedic chaos, they eventually devise a world of Bud Bars, Bed and Munchies Inns, and transportation Buzzes. In the end, they face the harsh reality of the drug underworld and political pandering.
With a knack for story-telling, Shannon spins a tale with the best as he takes the reader on a farcical journey through the eccentric society of weed growers. He leaves us with a strong message squared directly at today's dysfunctional legislative system. It's a tale that will be enjoyed by all and a must read for those with a libertarian bent.
