I still enjoy this show, but I found myself less gripped mid season and was a bit bemused by both Grace’s quickly-resolved yo-yo and the introduction of a new romantic undercurrent. Still, it’s a strong finale that significantly changes the context for future seasons.

Leaning towards 3.5 stars.

There are a lot of great scenes in this season of Bookburners but overall it was a bit boring? Apart from Arturo, no member of the team has a real arc and we kind of end at the same point as the second season. I liked a lot of the ideas in the individual episodes and how Hannah came more and more into focus, but maybe they'd benefit from having some longer episodes in between to really develop some plot points or at least not have them resolved in the blink of an eye. I am excited though to see how everyone is going to deal with the events in London in the next season!

Still enjoyable, still one of the best monster-of-the-week 'shows' out there these days - but Season Three shows some all-too-familiar weaknesses around the edges. Characters get paired off or pitted against each other simply to have something to do, plots are resolved way too quickly and without much consequence, and you'd be forgiven if you (as I did) had to walk away from this season not because it was bad... but because it just didn't feel like the show you'd loved.
I was happy I came back and finished though, because even with some of the overly dramatic flourishes of the last few episodes, the big multi-part showdown in London is one of the best things the Bookburners writers' room has ever pulled off. So, yeah, I'll be back for season 4.... but maybe not for much longer than that.

Overall, Season 3 of Bookburners was pretty strong and satisfying. However, there were more episodes this season that didn't do much for me compared to previous two.

While I'm a fan of urban fantasy, I'm not big into monster-of-the-week style serials or weird fiction, which I try to keep in mind when rating this serial. Season 3 does, at least, usually tie each episodic encounter into the overarching plot.

I also enjoyed Father Menchu's character arc, along with some developments between the various characters. But while Bookburners is smart and well-written and unique, it always leaves me longing for more in terms of character interaction. I don't really come for the magical shenanigans. That said, I *do* want more of the characters because I like them.

Season 3 ended quite strongly, providing a satisfying conclusion while setting up an intriguing situation for Season 4.

I'm not exactly clamoring to read the next season, but the raised stakes and likable cast will probably draw me back in.

Magic is real, and hungry--trapped in ancient texts and artifacts. Only a few who discover it survive to fight back.

Join Detective Sal Brooks, newest recruit to a black-ops magic hunting team backed by the Vatican, as she travels the world to keep the supernatural in check. Just remember: watch your back and don't touch anything.

Admittedly, the blurbs don't tell you a whole lot but that's kind of a good thing. I sort of like the surprises, even when they make my head hurt and my heart pound and I want to yell 'what are you thinking??' The team has more than one 'mission' in this season and they're basically handling the first one split up into three 'teams' even though half the team doesn't know it yet. Confusing enough?

Grab the paperbacks of all five seasons or the kindle versions. I prefer the Serial Box version so I can listen on my walks in the morning or listen while I fix breakfast, do dishes and laundry, etc. Whatever your preference, if you like sort of spooky mysteries with angels and demons and things that go bump, grab this series.

That was not as enjoyable as the previous two seasons of the series. The previous season especially hit it out of the park with characterization and slow build-up to a huge payoff (one that I imagine would have been amazing for someone who read each episode as it was released), and it really managed to make you relate to every character in the series.

In this season, everyone's personal arc seems to be relatively floundering, with the possible exception of the good Father Menchu, and Menchu's arc wasn't particularly interesting. There are also weren't very many interesting high concept things like the Silk Road or Team 4 to keep things interesting.

On the whole, pretty disappointed. The endgame of this season was also not what I was expecting. Let's see where they take this from here.

It was still enjoyable, but disappointing, especially compared to the highs of the previous two seasons. I’m tentatively hopeful that it can recover in the next season, but we’ll see.

Once again, this series is great fun! The world is saved, but will it survive the rescue?

This was a solid 4 stars, and then the end came... and wow!! The direction the story took reached amazingness, and I seriously cannot wait to start #4.

This utterly enjoyable urban fantasy series continues working its magic, ending with a world-shaking finale in London. What a team of writers!

Bookburners continues to be an enjoyable read. The characters twist and turn and grow and reveal new secrets, Grace's change of reading matter had me braced for something having gone occultishly haywire with her, and the nod to Paul Cornell's Shadow Police series in the last episode made me laugh (that team and the Vatican crew would be one heckuva crossover)
