5 EXTINCTION LEVEL EVENTS HAVE ALREADY HAPPENED. CAN HUMANITY SURVIVE A 6TH?
In two weeks life on Earth would end. Victoria Phillips was one of the fortunate ones, she'd won a spot in Earth's underground sanctuary. Unfortunately, it came with Phoenix Tanner. He'd been sent to escort her to safety, but the man drove her nuts with his arrogant, annoying, sexist attitude. She was torn between kicking his shins and running her nails down his back, tracing that delicious tattoo.
She was relieved when they picked up more winners, and his attention shifted away from her. But the more time the group spent together; the more she got to know Nix… she began to suspect that the lottery wasn't all that random after all
Helen lives in a suburb of Philadelphia. Philly girl through and through. She knows the meaning of "Wit or Witout", that the best cheesesteaks are from the local place and skips Pat's and Geno's.
She has always been an avid reader and writer. Her mother would often find her in the middle of the night with a flashlight and either a book she couldn't put down or scratching the stories that were in her head on loose leaf paper.
Want a dash of romance with your 'End of The World' tale? If so, BURN is perfect for you.
If you like stories where the female lead character has a backbone and is 'off-the-charts' intelligent? Again, BURN is the book for you.
I have a soft-spot for post-apocalyptic fiction. There is just something about reading about regular people who find themselves in extraordinary circumstances that intrigues me.
I enjoyed reading BURN and I love the characters author HELEN HYLAND has populated the story with. Each one has his or her own distinct personalities and they all seem so real that I found it impossible not to care about them.
Victoria Phillips is the main character and she is someone that, if she were real, I would definitely hang out with. Her backstory is similar enough to my own that I understood the motivations behind many of her thoughts and actions. I don't want to give too much of the plot away, so I won't say anything more about her. Suffice it to say that I really enjoyed reading BURN and I recommend it to readers who are fascinated by the many scenarios that could potentially bring an end to most of the life on our planet.
I read BURN in a single sitting (much to the chagrin of my hungry family who were waiting for me to finish the book and to cook dinner.) At only 226 pages, this book can easily be read over a single weekend, or a single day if you binge read like I do.
I rate BURN by HELEN HYLAND as 4 out of 5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Mark your calendars for May 2nd to get this book on Release Day. Or, better yet, just go to any of the links at the end of my post to preorder a copy to be sent to you the second it is released.
A lovely and amazing Science-Fiction books that I have read in a while. This book is a roller coaster of lots of emotions, thrill. And on top of that there is a love story going on in between all of this apocalyptic scenario. The characters are great actually, the plot is so much interesting and the dialogues are awesome. Every para of the book is fun to read and glue you to the chair unless you hit the last page of the book.
Edge of your seat post apocalyptic romance. I'll totally take it. Romance is normally a hard genre to get a decent story from, it's normally background fodder to the two sexy people's tension but not this one. I was glued to it. The story makes you want to keep reading as much as the tidbits of sexual tension thrown in. There's a couple spots where grammar or wording missed edits but they're few and far between so my OCD wasn't awful. It was definitely longer than I expected and even my binge reading took a good 12 hours to get through. Writing-wise there was none of the dull explanatory humdrum. The writer did a good job of keeping you glued even to the explanations. I won't spoil it but it very much makes me want to read the next one!
What an amazing read!!! I dont leave to many reviews but this book is fantastic and needs one.
I love how relatable Tori is to me. She's feisty and takes no shit but also cares so much about people. Despite the fear of the world ending and any dangerous situation she gets put in, she puts others first. Nix has me on an emotional rollercoaster with his lusty but professional bipolar self that keeps me on the edge of my seat. I feel that if we faced a world ending event, this is exactly how it would go down!
Adventure, End of the World, Steamy Romance, and Thrilling.
I am excited to see where this journey will take us in the next book.
The world is going to end; you’ve drawn the lucky straw to be included in the sanctuary but there’s a catch. The enigmatic, arrogant and sexy man sent to escort you to said sanctuary. You alternate between wanting to get him naked and wanting to wring his neck. Along the way you pick up more winners. Or are you? Is this chance or manipulation? Very thought out characters, each with their own distinct personalities and well written. The chemistry between the protagonists is realistic and amusing. Once you’re in, you don’t realise how far until you look up and wonder what day it is. Luckily at just under 230 pages, it’s one that can be read in one day, or a weekend, depending on how fast you read and how much uninterrupted time you have. It leaves you excited to read the next instalment.
This is a wonderful debut novel for this author. I loved the 3rd person point of view. It makes the story much more enjoyable, at least to me.
There is lots of chemistry between Tori and Nix. The supporting characters help the story progress and makes the interaction between the protagonists much more enjoyable.
As I started reading the book, I had an overwhelming sensation of dejavu, like I've seen this story before. This feeling held throughout most of the book. It's an odd coincidence, I'm sure.
If you like romance, apocalyptic, and witty novels, then Burn is a must read. I'm anxious for the next one!
Leuk verhaal.
