When a prostitute turns up murdered in Abilene, Texas with all the hallmarks of Jack the Ripper, and Scotland Yard suspects Jack is an American on the run, Edwin Greaves, an English reporter, knows where he has to go to write the story of a lifetime. However, gruesome murder isn’t all that he’ll find in America.
Frank Vito and his partner, Ellie Stockwell, are on the hunt for their elusive bounty, Bloody Bob Anderson, and come across reporter Edwin Greaves on a stagecoach to Abilene. They learn from him all the gory details of the Ripper murders in London, and his suspicions that Jack the Ripper has struck again in Abilene. Frank’s not too thrilled with the way Ellie looks at the charming Englishman, but he can’t resist a good case.
Just like in Whitechapel, when Frank, Ellie, and Edwin arrive in town, more women are killed with Jack the Ripper’s signature, and the body count is growing larger every day.
Can they catch Jack the Ripper before he vanishes again into thin air like he did in London?
Jack the Ripper Goes West is the thrilling third installment in the BESTSELLING Frank Vito Bounty Hunter Series but can be read as a standalone novel.
R.J. Hendricks was born in Arlington Heights, Illinois. He is a graduate of Saint Leo University, with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Business Management. R.J. played college and professional baseball. He now lives in Florida, running a small business with his wife and four children.
Fortunately, I have been blessed to read, and enjoy, the series of Fran Vito, enjoying each and every startling episode. Mr. Hendricks II is very descriptive with his storylines and his characters tolls are most definitely well assigned. I was not prepared for the end of this story, although I envisioned the appropriate suspect as the tale finally wound down. Wonderful suspense and the anticipation increased as the story developed.
Worthy of the five stars and possibly more, but that is the max allowed. I am, most definitely, impressed with Mr. R. J. Hendricks II and his untold writing abilities. Too, I anxiously await the release of the next Vito book, to be released this Summer, since I have been hooked on the series since reading the first book!
Most certainly recommend this series to all you lovers of an exciting suspenseful story, especially one with a western flair. I sincerely all of you will be very impressed with the storylines and the descriptive character selection throughout the entire series. Try it! What do you have yo lose?
I found this book less enjoyable than the previous books in the series. The story itself was quite good, and Frank and Ellie did not disappoint. However, instead of being based on a true event, it played off of the Jack the Ripper murders in London.
The story has Frank and Ellie trying to solve Ripper-type murders in Abilene, Texas, and inevitably wanders into Silly territory. The plot felt cheap and thin and there were no surprises.
Nevertheless, it's a readable story and I anxiously await the release of A Gunfighter's Deal with the Devil in February 2019.
I haven't read any of the other books in the series so was reading this for the Jack The Ripper element as opposed to anything else. The JTR plot worked as a standalone novel, but the relationship between Frank and Ellie felt disjointed which I imagine would have been explored abd developed throughout the series. I found the relationship between Frank and Ellie to be a huge cliche and very stereotypical. There were also instances of speechmarks before and after description as opposed to dialogue.
The descriptions however, of both the gruesome crimes and the wild west setting, were very well done. It wad a good contrast having a British character to compare with the Americans.
The 3rd Frank Vito Bounty Hunter vs Jack the Ripper
RJH-II has penned a western novel of FV and his partner ES who stop a stage holdup. They chase after Bloody Bob Anderson who has managed to avoid capture or being killed while leading his gang back and forth across the state of Texas. The Bounty Hunters are led astray by n alleged Jack the Ripper who has killed 4 women. This is an excellent read for the genre ....ER
Interesting plot, good character profiles and an end twist I didn't see coming until just before it happened. High recommendation for shop's up western fans.
This book was well written and cleverly plotted, with misleading clues and a surprising resolution (though I suspected the identity of the villain myself). Glad Jack never made it to my hometown...
