Pretty damn bad. That’s the conclusion Cassie Hunter draws, and it’s quite easy to reach. Not only is she the embodiment of a powerful portal that can open dimensions of reality, but she has accidentally unleashed an entity so dark it is annihilating thousands of souls right in front of her eyes.
The darkness is intent on Cassie’s destruction, but she must stay alive to protect the innocent. Cassie and detective Elliot Stone find themselves in a desperate corner, condemned to make an impossible choice that will forever change the human world.
Besides that, Cassie can’t touch the man she loves. An unknown entity has taken up residence inside her. And she won’t survive long enough to tell Elliot how much she loves him.
Soul is the third installment in the Damned series. Follow Cassie on her journey through perilous dimensions of reality to fight for the love of her life.
Charmaine Ross has penned over 50 heart-pounding tales straddling everything from reverse harem sci-fi and paranormal excitement to omegaverse allure and contemporary romance charm. Known for her blend of steam, full spice and all-the-feels, Charmaine's stories are your ticket to heart-stopping romance and boundless adventure.
Living with her endlessly supportive husband who has become a sounding board for her galaxy of ideas, Charmaine shares her lively home with two adult children and a pair of predictably spoiled cats. When she's not spinning tales, she's indulging in Netflix and Chill sessions, secretly hoping that one day, a Black Dagger Brotherhood vampire will swoop in and whisk her away.
With a wit as sharp as her imagination, Charmaine Ross fearlessly turns dreams into page-turning realities, steadfastly capturing the hearts of readers one mesmerizing story at a time.
Key tropes include: - Scent matches - Fated mates - Hurt/ comfort - Touch her and die - Enemies to lovers
The start of this novel is sad, after what happened in the last one, Elliot and Cassie have discovered their romance is real and managed to touch and be together in limbo but unfortunately unless Cassie dies then they can’t be together. She can’t even tell him she loves him or he will be unable to move on, stuck in limbo until she dies.
Elliott’s need to find his grandsons whereabouts drives the first part of the story, with them relying on Thadius’ intel.
Cassie has a whole new power to control, and she doesn’t know much about it, she struggles with it and not knowing what damage it could cause.
Things get serious really quick and I struggled with the change of pace from slow romance novel to hellfire and killing demons, the romance side of the story was somewhat predictable too with the hints all pointing towards the same end.
This is the end of this trilogy, it was an enjoyable and easy read though there weren’t any big twists or no reveals so it was fairly predictable throughout all the books, still would recommend if you are looking for some easy going paranormal romance 👍🏼
By travelling to another reality, destroying a long dead gangster’s plans for ultimate power and saving her sister’s soul from the creatures in the Grey Mist – the one place she and Elliot can actually touch, Cassie has unwittingly released a demon into her reality that’s intent on destroying the world. What she doesn’t realise is that something else has come along for the ride.
Then there’s Elliot’s grandson, Thomas. The boy he never met has been acting as a lawyer for the grandson of Elliot’s enemy, Black John. Trouble is, no one knows whether he’s a pawn in a dangerous game or someone far more sinister. The only thing they know for sure is that Thomas is the key to discovering what’s happening in contemporary Melbourne, a city now besieged by a dark and powerful entity. A city where more than one power hungry monster is desperate to take control.
Ms Ross ties all the loose ends in this book, but she also delivers some amazing twists. Some hinted at in the previous books, and some that are completely unexpected. Let’s just say I was satisfied with the conclusion. :)
rcvd an advanced reader copy for giving my two cents. we continue the journey to end evil and darkness. Cassie is angry at her sister for her choice, learning truths that impacts everything. when her family gathers at Thadeous' they watch the horror of soul eaters making destruction and Cassie has the innate urge to unleash the power within. fighting soul eaters isn't easy especially when the biggest one of them all was unleashed when she banished Black John is doing its damnest to get her. An angel comes out of nowhere to aid her and when all is said and done he thanks the Lady of the Light. WTH...cassie doesnt know what to think anymore. she's tired of fighting and her family risking their lives. elliott's great grandson shows up and there are answers needed to questions asked but can they trust him? can cassie keep everyone safe? there is more danger lurking but it wont stop them from trying.
This series gets better and better and more exciting with a dash of tears. Cassie, Eliot and the rest of the family are now in a form of armageddon! Soul eaters, death, light, dark...tears. Life barrels towards life or death of the world. Angels vs Demons. Light vs Dark. Can Cassie and her family and friends find their way through the turmoil to happily ever after or will all be snuffed out in a world gone crazy!? Fascinating, exciting, adventurous and love as a possibility.. have the kleenex handy. Hang on to your seat and submerge yourself in this story!

A good book with a couple of surprises. Second sight can be a curse and a blessing, Cassie experiences both, and has strong feelings about her sister voluntarily agreeing to accept it in lieu of death. Cassie's boyfriend is a ghost and she has mixed feelings, should she try to help him become mortal again to be with her or should she disregard her love for him and help him move on so he can reunite with his wife that he adored who had died previously. But there is more to the story than either of them know.

In this 3rd book of Charmaine Ross' "Damned" series, Cassie and Elliot's story has a HEA (yay!). The series will be continued, however, with Laura and Thadius' relationship. This is great because readers of the series know so much about the environment and characters by this point. The story is rich and you are really invested in what is happening. I can't wait for book 4!

Wow, I did it! I read the whole three books in two days! And. Ow I’m quite sad to have to say goodbye to Cassie and Elliot but I’m happy for them. In this third installment, the drama went worldwide, the craziness they faced in the grey-mists, the inter world between heaven and earth, is spreading its evil’s claws in Melbourne. They are back with Laura but Elliot is still a ghost. For the first time Cassie loses her calmness, she is angry, after all they went through, they are still breathing in two different universes. It was stunning, but I suffered too for Elliot when she hurt him thinking she protected him by keeping her distance with him. Hopefully she quickly regains composure and accepts what faith has in stock for them. Here Thadius is back, I like this intriguing personage, and I can’t wait to see what the author has in stock for him. And we finally meet Elliot’s grandson, Thomas, I hope to see him also in the next books of the series. The ending is epic and awesome, but you will have to read it to learn more. Now I have to wait, not too long I hope, to see what the author will imagine for Laura and Thadius.
This has been a fabulous series. I have read each of the books and they just get better and better. This has been my favorite series in a while and was totally engrossed and entertained by these stories. Read them for yourself
