Blackout #3

Zero Hour: Blackout Vol. 3

In Volume 3 of the Blackout Series, the story continues as Joe Tillman and his growing group at the Tillman homestead begin to clash with the local FSS detachment in control of their hometown of Bennett, North Carolina. A tragedy strikes the Tillman homestead at the hands of the FSS and Joe personally leads the retaliatory strikes in return.

Meanwhile Commander Terry Price at the Utah Facility sends troops east in response to the swelling ranks of the insurrectionist FSS militia in Washington, D. C. uner the command of the self-declared President Hall. As the loyal National Defense Force marches east they try to restore what order they can, but a sneak attack by Presdient Hall nearly wipes out the NDF before they can cross the Mississippi.

Commander Price is forced to make a dire choice that threatens to do what the Blackout and the fall of modern society couldn't and destroy his humanity.

Wisdom from my grandfather: "Take care of people when you can, and they'll take care of you when you can't."

Wisdom from my father: "Live your life so that it doesn't matter what anyone says about you... even if they lie."

I was born in Maryland, spent a few years in California, and finally settled down to grow up in rural North Carolina. Our family lived in a very small farming community in North Carolina where I graduated high school. I attended several colleges before finally arriving at Univ. of North Carolina at Wilmington in the BFA Creative Writing program. From there, I moved to Charlotte where I live now with my wife and family.

I have a degree in Laser Optics and Photonics (basically an optical engineering degree that was light on the calculus and heavy on the lab time). I enjoy reading (and writing) about everything from Tolkien style high fantasy all the way to technical physics and deep science like Einstein's Relativity.

When I read Treasure Island in the 3rd grade, I knew I wanted to be an author. I've spent basically the last few decades since then planning, striving, and working towards becoming one. I hope I've done it well.

Fort Bragg

Sometimes I can forgive authors for their lack of understanding of the military. But this is just crazy. The Army of the bad guys (numbering 20,000) is going to attack Fort Bragg. The Army of the good guys is going to stop them..This raises an interesting question: what are the military at Fort Bragg doing? (Snide comment: performing sexual harassment training.) Fort Bragg by population is the largest military base in the world with 50,000 active duty personnel. It is the home of the 86th Airborne, the Army Delta Force, and the Army Special Operations Command. Also home of JSOC. It houses significant Air Force commands. So the idea that a group of barely trained people could take on Bragg is ludicrous. BTW it also has a very large and modern military hospital.

I happened upon this series when I downloaded the first book a couple of years back for free. I only just got around to reading it and absolutely loved it - so much that I bought the next 2 in the series. D.W. McAliley has not disappointed in either of the next 2 books in the series.

I can't wait for the next book in the series!
