Capricorn: Mr. Ambition

PLEASE NOTE: This book contains adult content.

Chancellor Hartmann has no time for fun and games.
He is the CEO of “Fountain Lite,” a successful company offering special lighting appliances for pools and irrigation systems. Chancellor wakes up at 4:05 a.m. every morning, goes out for his daybreak jog, then gets ready and drives to work with nothing but business on his mind. The employees fear his no-nonsense approach. His callous way of cutting to the chase, and his failure to mince words have given him quite the reputation. When he leaves his office, often in the wee hours of the morning, he returns to an empty house.

Women are delightful creatures to regard from afar, and for short periods of time…

Chancellor garners female attention wherever he goes with his distinguished looks and sex appeal. Yet, his aloofness keeps them at arm’s length, sending a message to any potential lover not to get attached for he has no qualms whatsoever about breaking hearts. Nothing steers him from this path tailored around a vigorous schedule. That is, nothing until Bailey Hawthorn moves into his neighborhood…

Bailey is a hands-on type of woman with an infectious laugh and magnetic personality. Her interesting career gives her a touch of whimsy, but she also carries a wisdom about her that exceeds her age. After a chance meeting, Chancellor learns that Bailey is not only drop dead gorgeous, but also single. Though he hates to admit it, she is now on his radar, and his thoughts are consumed with her. For one, she has him truly pegged, down to the bare bones, and this fascinates him. The once most eligible bachelor of the block is now faced with a life test he’s never encountered before.

The challenge? Living by the seat of his pants, facing the hard truth, experiencing fun and adventure.

Chancellor has fallen head over heels for his polar opposite, but can he hold on to her, face unexpected crises, and pass the test of true love? Will he be able to release his stifling dogma and let go of the rules and regulations that have slowed him down once and for all?

I really enjoyed the book, however, some chapters were really bland for me. That’s the only downside for me.

I liked that the characters were older than most of Ms. Laveen’s characters (mid forties). Having older characters mean nothing to me. Apparently it’s been an issue for some. They were still very relatable characters. I loved the fact that they didn’t play any kind of mind games and had effective communication. One thing that I have noticed about getting older is that you have no times for BS mind games. Both characters were honest with what they were going through and honest about what they wanted and expected from each other as lovers and friends.

SN: Everything that Chancellor said to his peers and subordinates at work is what I’ve wanted to say to mine too. 🤷🏾‍♀️😂

I can’t wait for the next installment to the “The 12 Signs of Love” series to come out.

Happy reading, ❤️📖

Ms. Laveen shows another facet to her writing. This is a well developed, well written love story. Chancellor and Bailey found true love that didn't take years to come to fruition. Their physical love was expressed beautifully without being overly erotic, graphic or too explicit. You certainly felt their steamy attraction to each other. Sex was not used by either for anything except giving pleasure. Chancellor was beginning to discover some unpleasant things about himself when he met Bailey. She helped him to understand being right didn't require brutal honesty no matter what the circumstances (except with Winnie). Bailey was honest with a quiet, gentle touch that Chancellor understood and accepted without being angry. Bailey was no angry, black woman but a self-assured, independent one. Chancellor didn't allow Bailey to push him away when she became ill. He showed her that he truly loved her which is what they both needed most. It was amazing to journey with them both as they became aware of the weakness in each other. This made them strong. They both went through trials of self examination. More Chancellor than Bailey. To see Chancellor realize how he had wronged others and to see him correct past mistakes was inspiring.

There was more of Chancellor's backstory which gave more insight to what motivated him. I would have loved for to know more of Bailey's backstory. Ms. Laveen is an amazing writer who gives her readers what they want. Some want hot, erotic, explicit and graphic sex in their stories. Others of us want the hotness and steam without graphic details. We know how it works and satisfies, as did Bailey and Chancellor.

CEO Chancellor Hartman has an anger management problem, which gets him suspended from work and sent to mandated anger management classes. But what really improves his outlook is his relationship with neighbor Bailey Hawthorn, a voice over artist/actress with an adorable dog. He lets their chaos into his life, and learns to open up, even accepting the advice of his anger management class and turning his life around. Bailey tames the beastly CEO, and then needs his help when medical problems threaten her career.

So, this book exists. It's a straightforward romance. Chancellor makes a fairly quick recovery with his anger issues (almost magically), but the relationship between Chancellor and Bailey is nice. The book just seems sort of "blah" to me. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's not particularly memorable or exciting.

As usual Tiana has given another hit.

Tiana has given us something to think about with the start of the new zodiac series. As someone who doesn't necessarily follow horoscopes this book really gave me some insight one the Capricorn man. Steadfast the time and sometimes a little harsh but always there for his family and friends. In Capricorn Mr. Ambitious you meet Chancellor, Stuck in his ways about to lose it when he meets the perfect calming spirit in Bailey. You see both Chancellor and Bailey develop as a couple. You see Chancellor acknowledging his faults, recognizing exactly who he is and then taking serious action to correct not necessarily the flaws in his self but just things that he never saw as flaws in himself.
I saw a couple of reviews about the fact that Chancellor and Bailey were an older couple but it's not like they are 60 in 95. They're contemporary, adults who are established as individuals. You see this couple who most anyone could relate to . Anyone who is a reader of Tiana Laveen's work knows that she doesn't write about teenagers; she doesn't write about young adult couples she writes about couples who are in the full stages of their lives. They're ADULTS who have flaws as we all do. They know who they are. Tiana doesn't write coming of age books (if she did I would read that too) When you meet her couples you're not meeting individuals trying to figure out who they are, but couples who are just getting to know each other trying to figure out where they are going together.

These days you rarely find a romance story where not only is the story well written but the hero and heroine are over forty. In Capricorn, Ms. Laveen did both. Chancellor and Bailey start as friends and journey to admiration on their way to love. What I like about these two and this story the most was the absence of unnecessary drama. Oh , they had issues, but it was personal issue about growing and learning things about themselves, and eventually loving themselves so that they could open up to the possibility of truly loving someone else. I loved it!

Breaking with ambition

WOW! This was awesome! Tiana Laveen is amazing! She has blessed us with another masterfully written story of loved lost and found with a side order of self improvement!
Chancellor Hartmann is a man after my heart! Beneath that rough exterior is a heart bigger than life. Bailey Hawthorn is a blessing that only comes along once in a lifetime. Shes a firm but gentle spirit that wraps you up in love and confidence.
Unaware or so it seems, of his atrocious behavior and his unabashed ambition to succeed, Chancellor finds that shooting from the hip isn’t always how to get things done. Forced to take a vacation and attend anger management sessions, he’s strongly admonished to find reason for his volatile behavior and discovers he’s his own worse enemy. On his trek to find that one thing missing in his life and why he’s so angry, he meets Bailey and her precious furbaby Barnie. In her sweet lighthearted way, she breathes new life into his soul.
Bailey has had her share of heartbreak but she’s faced the worst and goodness of love and is walking the path to self empowerment. Content and happy with where her life is headed she meets a kindred soul in Chancellor and immediately recognizes his struggle and knows that Chancellor needs her. She keeps it real with Chancellor, not pulling any punches or sugarcoating her advice.
When Bailey finds out she has a life altering disease, Chancellor stands strong and bends her will to push him away. Determined to be the strength that Bailey needs, he continues to evolve and becomes the man he’d unknowingly hid in the bowels of self loathing. They each deal with their individual demons but discover they’re stronger facing them together.

The first book ..... Awesome

Tiana Laveen starts the series off with a HOA meeting that's the beginning of a love match of two people that have more in common than they think .It's funny how you can grow up in a family and think that a person is the greatest and they can be but can have flaws that you unknowly or just go with the way things are and make life decisions based on that knowledge good or bad have an incident that changes the way you think and trigger memories you have to confront or stay stuck in your ways then you also lose out on love based on fear or backlash then you meet the person you want to grow for and with this story will make you laugh think cry grow and learn some lessons I really enjoyed this book Thanks Chancellor Bailey and last but not least Tiana Laveen

Know thy self!

Chancellor Hartmann had to dig deep in his past to see and understand that he was indeed angry. He was angry with himself because he was a coward for not doing what he wanted to do but instead did things that pleased others. He settled for his second choice and that made him angry with himself and used his job and work to bury himself in his success. He realized that all of the success could not fill the holes in his life. He was alone and lonely until he met Bailey. She accepted him just as he was. It was as though the knew each other and were old friends from the start. Chance's being forced into anger management was the best thing that could happen to him. It gives him a chance to get it right not just for him but for Bailey too.

Tiana wrote a very interesting story about two different people falling in love and accepting each other as they are.

Wow

This book was great. I laughed. I cried. I smiled. I cheered. I went on an emotional roller coaster ride and it was freaking AWESOME!!!! I cannot wait for the rest of the series. I plan to read the other 11, should she ever get them written. This book was a journey of self discovery, understanding, forgiveness, finding love, falling in love with yourself and with another person. It was about hopes, dreams, friendship, owning up to ones mistakes, self-forgiveness. About being there for the one you love, no matter what. It was about loving without resorvation and unconditionally. It was about manning up and not being afraid to live your best and most authentic life. The journey of discovery was beautiful. If I could give this book more than five stars I would. This book was simply wonderful to read and all I can say is, WOW.

Great Read

This is the first book in The Zodiac series, this is Bailey and Chancellor's story. One thing about this author is not knowing what to expect with her books. However, it is always going to be good and this was no exception.

Chancellor was an angry tyrant of a boss and because of his behavior, he was forced to enroll in anger management classes. At the time when he felt was falling apart, he met Bailey who became the balm to his angry, tortured soul.

As expected, the interaction between them was intense and humorous. I was particularly drawn to Bailey's diagnosis of meniere's disease; a subject I unfortunately know a lot about, having lived with it for about fifteen years. Very relatable and on point . Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Capricorn

I have read a few Tiana Laveen books, and what I have come to realize is that she does not just write stories, she writes life. Her books have characters and situations you can relate to. How many people are like Chancellor? How many people do everything expected of them, but deep down they wish they had made different choices? Sometimes people can shake off the decisions they wish they had not made, or they harbor deep pain like Chancellor. Finding no way out, they become their own worst enemy. That is why we need the Baileys in this life. They recognize that sometimes in life things happen, people leave, people die, people get sick, people do bad things, and more. But it just life, we must keep living and enjoying it.

New Reader

I am a new reader to Mrs Laveen work, but after reading most of the synopsis on The Zodiac Lover’s Series I wish I was reading her work long before now. Although Mrs. Laveen has designed this series to be read either together or stand alone giving her reader a preference without any lingering cliffhangers (greatly appreciated) my choice is to read them in order of each signs corresponding calendar month. With that being said, being introduced to “Capricorn” was and excellent way to start of this series and now I have to pace myself to stick to my own plans of how I want to read them. Giving the fact that this first book being such a page turner, I could probably finish the whole series by the end of January..LOL Needless to say I cannot wait read more from this series and more of Mrs. Laveen work. Excellent read. New reader for life.

Loved It!

Wow, what a journey! This Capricorn gave me some insight of the Caps in my life. Chancellor could definitely be my ex 😀.

I love the journey of self discovery Chance and Bailey were on. I love the grown folks vibe and realness of this book. I loved the way they dealt with adversity; I'm gonna be mad and wallow for a bit but then, let's fix this!

The witty dialogue, the lessons, the love, the hot sex scenes are all part and parcel of a Laveen masterpiece; she never skips a beat with this one! Kudos!!

💮 💮 💮 💮

A quick novella about a reckoning with inner remorse and guilt and self loathing...Chancellor journey towards finally accepted who he is and meeting the woman of his dreams absolves him of the guilt he carried on his shoulders all these years...he's finally able to love the person he is and be confident in his own skin....let go off anger and love Bailey with all his heart and soul....another thing I like about Tiana's male characters....they always fall hard madly deeply for the females in her stories....I'm waiting for Pisces....my favorite sign...

Capricorn was a lot

The book I'm about to review was my third by this author. A fellow bookie badgered me relentlessly, until I read the two books. So now I'm back for a third. I'll admit, the writing is good, the story has many layers of intellectual thoughts. A professional bully, a Caucasian man who loves and preferred black women. Mean and driven and just as easy as climbing a greasy pole. Until he met and fell for his neighbor. I enjoyed their story, and the relationship buildup. Nicely done!

A Very Good and Sensual Interracial Romantic Comedy

Capricorn-Mr. Ambition: The 12 Signs of Love (The Zodiac Lovers Series) is a very good and sensual interracial romantic comedy novel that earned a rating of five stars. Chancellor met Bailey at a neighborhood association meeting and was attracted to her instantly. They began a loving relationship that benefit both their needs that led to their happy ever after. I enjoyed reading this book and found it to be humorous and sweet love story. I would recommend it to everyone who enjoys reading very good romantic comedies.

Good

Not was hot as I like but still a good read. Chancellor and Bailey meet at a Home Owners Association meeting. She's a smart, fun loving, understanding, insightful woman. Chancellor was a smart hard working, structured, and organized man. However he was also a very angry man. As he went to anger management group therapy he learned a lot about himself. With the help of Bailey he changed for the better.

The Attention to Detail is Amazing

Tiana manages to draw you into the scene as you watch the dog licking the floor looking for crumbs and Chancellor sitting there judging, and realizing, the dog had better character than himself. One complaint, the prose is almost literary and then there was a cock and a pussy. Kind of dragged me out of the moment. Love her work.

This is the first Tiana Laveen book I've read and I enjoyed it immensely. It moves along at a comfortable pace and is great to just disappear into this calm love story. It's more mature than I'm used to and that was a refreshing surprise. Their love is deep and meaningful and you feel it in every page. Well done.

Very Good

I enjoyed the complexities and depth of the lead characters. Each had a flaw or two, were very human and relatable. If I enjoy the characters I usually enjoy the story. I very much enjoyed this one. This was a real story that didn't rush to a HEA but evolved with the relationship. Look forward to the other stories in this series.

Another wonderful story by my favorite author Tiana Laveen. Chancellor was a trip. I loved his honesty and bluntness. Really loved Bailey who taught him how to love again and accept people the way they are and to be a nicer more tolerable human being. I did like when he told nosey Winnie off. Overall a great story. Can’t wait for the next Zodiac.

Different isn’t always bad

Not your usual Tiana Laveen read, but nevertheless, quite good. We join Bailey and Chancellor on their road to self discovery, a little pain, a little change, and a lot of passion along the way.
