Was quite some time since I began reading this manga. I first saw the anime back in 2017 and started the manga late 2017-early 2018 in my wait for season 3 (which I need like air can they pls just announce when we'll have it). Stopped reading for some reason. But I've been missing this world so much and it's been so long so now I'm reading it again.
Since I picked up where I last ended (didn't feel like re-reading the two first volumes since I still remember the plot pretty well from them) it was a head-dive into vampire battles. It feels both good to be back and also I regret everything because there will be intense feels. Why is all the manga and anime (or anything at all) I invest my heart in intense on my feels???? (read: Attack on titan and Noragami). Answer: I'm a fucking masochist and self-torture is one of my favourite hobbies that's why.
Yuichiro finally gets his first taste at action on his first mission with his teammates while seeing a different side of one of them, while an unpleasant surprise might be heading his way. A- (91%/Excellent)
This was really good! Yu's showing slow but steady character growth, Mitsuba wasn't too terribly annoying for being a loud-mouth bossy pants, and there was really good actions scenes. It does bother me that Yu keeps stealing the spotlight, I'd love to see more of the other group members' weapons in action.
I still can't stand the vampires and stand by my opinions on them as villains. Seriously, aside from Mika, are we ever going to meet a vampire that isn't condescending or obnoxiously full of themselves? All of the vampires presented so far have practically the same personality traits which is incredibly annoying. Honestly, if they didn't have such different characters designs, I'd barely be able to tell them apart. I'm going to be really annoyed if Ferid doesn't end dying at any point or if it takes too long to kill him off. I really don't think I can handle this series if I have to put up with him through most of it.
Complaints aside, I'm enjoying this series, good shounen fun.
Wooo finally they're out fighting and we got a new character Mitsuba Sangu and she seems cool though i think they're making her a tsudere which like ehh not crazy for them but i like her interactions with Shinoa Hiragi alot so more of that pls
This is the 3rd volume in the Seraph of the End series. There was actually quite a bit of action in this volume but I found it strangely slow. This was my least favorite volume in the SotE series so far and I am struggling to pinpoint why exactly. Maybe it was because there was less story progress and more battles?
Yuichiro and crew journey to their first vampire execution only to find that the city of Shinjuku is under attack. Little does Yu know that his best friend from childhood, Mika, is fighting on the vampires’ side.
The illustration is very well done and I enjoyed seeing Yu and crew go on their first vampire execution. There are some interesting new characters added and it was intriguing to see the world beyond the city where Yu underwent training.
I do absolutely love that there is a “story thus far” summary at the beginning and that all the characters and their histories/stories are also listed. This is so helpful to the reader and I really appreciate it being included.
Overall I enjoyed this volume of SotE but not as much as previous volumes. I do look forward to seeing what happens next and plan on continuing the series.
A lot more action in this volume, which was nicely portrayed through the art. It’s finally starting to pick up, although I wish the characters were a bit older, or at least acted more mature since at the moment they’re annoyingly winey and constantly fighting. Hopefully the tone of the manga will get more serious later on~
when I was a kid, I didn't notice how many details were being left out in favor of moving the plot along swiftly. and that kinda sucks, that we have to read some bios and item descriptions at the end to fully understand the world. but I can forgive this because the art is fun and adaptive. the story that's being told is meaningful and silly, and it doesn't need to have the most meticulously crafted lore.
