About the author

Scott Lefebvre can write about whatever you want him to write about.
Mostly because when he was grounded for his outlandish behavior as a hyperactive school child, the only place he was allowed to go was the public library.
His literary tastes were forged by the works of Helen Hoke, Alvin Schwartz and Stephen Gammell, Ray Bradbury, Richard Matheson, Stephen King, Clive Barker, Edgar Allan Poe, and H. P. Lovecraft.
He is the author of Spooky Creepy Long Island, and a contributing author to Forrest J. Ackerman’s Anthology of the Living Dead, Fracas: A Collection of Short Friction, The Call of Lovecraft, and Cashiers du Cinemart.
He is currently working on ten novel-length book projects which will be released in 2014.
He also publishes themed collections of interviews from his interview blog You Are Entitled To My Opinion.
His reviews have been published by a variety of in print and online media including Scars Magazine, Icons of Fright, Fatally Yours and Screams of Terror, and he has appeared in Fangoria, Rue Morgue and HorrorHound Magazine.
He is the Assistant Program Director for The Arkham Film Society and produces electronic music under the names Master Control and LOVECRAFTWORK.
He is currently working on a novel-length expansion of a short-story titled, "The End Of The World Is Nigh", a crowd-funded, crowd-sourced, post-apocalyptic, zombie epidemic project.

As a new Long Island resident, it is a great introduction to the paranormal of the area. However, the writing style was a bit of a struggle... Sometimes too little information, sometimes too much, and often very repetitive.

Spooky Creepy Long Island discusses myths, legends and ghost stories of Long Island. It includes The Amityville Horror, asylums, legends of Lake Ronkonkoma, haunted lighthouses, Mill Hill Windmill of Southampton College, Reid’s Ice Cream Warehouse, Herrmann House, Massapequa Hell House, haunted mansions and manors, historical haunted homes, paranormally plagued public places, Lakeview Cemetery, Mount Misery, Sweet Hollow Road, Mary’s Grave and witchcraft trials of Long Island. The author tells of the different stories that were told of the different places. For instance there were different versions of Mary’s grave.
It was interesting to read about what may of taken place at these places. I wish the author would of incorporated pictures of these places he discussed and possibly the people

Having lived most of my life on Long Island, I found this a fun read and a good summary of local folklore. There were a few stories I was familiar with and far more I had not heard.

The book would have really benefited from the inclusion of some photos, and nothing was really cited but I guess that's part of folklore's charm.

A lot of generic legends that seem to be cut and paste from every region, like big black dogs or the Lady of the Lake, and it felt rushed and not as thorough as it could’ve been. (Poor editing and sloppy writing didn’t help.) Still, a fine introduction to local lore like Amityville and the 1% mansions. Whistlin’ Sam was one I hadn’t heard before.
