Urban Fantasy. Reverse Harem. Sexy Shifters

When Karen Martin receives a summons to the Shifter High Council, she knocks it off to another hex-breaking assignment. As a half-witch/half-Coyote shifter herself, she's barely tolerated in either group. However, her magic allows her a slightly higher rank than runt among the various weres she helps.

Except this time, the magic required is to bind all twelve shifter clans with a thirteenth and rare zodiac sign—hers. She's got to find twelve mates in order to keep the peace among all the different species of shifters or all hell will break loose.

But can she keep all these men sexually satisfied and content? If she can keep from falling in love with all of them, then she might have a chance of surviving this mess and figuring out a way not to be the alpha in this new mixed pack. But when the time comes, can she walk away from her own desires...

Different....

This book was just odd, I'd say it was mostly sex, because it kind of is, but the sex scenes aren't long or very descriptive so it's not like it's all smut, that said, t he whole plot is about one woman needing to hook up with 12 guys so it's not like it's supposed to be squeaky clean novel with large no sexual subplots. Most of the book was either the lead character running from guys who wanted to fuck her or actually screwing them. The whole book was just... odd.

A fun story with an interesting concept. It goes by very fast. Several spots could have been expanded upon. I'd personally like a bit more setting, though the opening one and ending one were good. An entertaining and steamy HEA. There's even some fast-paced action in here, for which I was grateful.

I had a feeling about what kind of shifter Caine was, and I was right.

There's a bit of telling rather than showing in the beginning, like when the character thinks about having grown up in Arizona with her Aunt Jess and that her coyote dad dropped her off in a basket. Will that come up again later in the series?

I find the idea of a thirteenth zodiac sign to be interesting. (The astronomical constellation Ophiuchus, ruling from about November 30 to December 18, is something I knew of before reading this book.)

The book's editor really dropped the ball, which is a shame because the story deserves better. Little things like this:
"And I he didn't want..."
chose instead of choose
A shift from first person to third (Her words died as she eyed a...)
"...they treating you superior treatment like pouring..."
And everything indicates a dragon could best a lion, except one line. Likely one name was switched for another.
There were also a few missing opening quote marks.

But, beyond that, the story was good and I would read the next book in this series because I'm curious as to who else will join the main cast. I really want to know if there will be another coyote. If certain types of shifters will be saught. And if she'll make more choices, or have them be made for her, essentially. Also, it is implied that she'll eventually have an important role in their "government," so I'd like to see that play out.

Clickbait!

I read the synopsis, didn’t read any reviews, downloaded the book, got ready for what I thought would be a snarky kick but heroine off in an adventure for the Shifter councils and find out more about her past along the way, maybe fall in love.....started off great, snarky banter, kick butt intro to the council, and then this story goes off the rails!!! *Spoiler Alert-next thing I know the plot is she needs to bang 12 shifters , 60+ are in the council room getting aggressive ready to gang rape her if necessary and now she’s on a smoky & the bandit race with a dragon shifter?! Remember how she doesn’t know about her past & shifter heritage?! Well the author forgot that and we are then subjected to plot hole whiplash as she’s spewing mate binding incantations then she’s back to questioning all she’s doesn’t know about shifters...her “dragon mate” has been betrayed in the past by his fiancé and other lovers but then he’s picking out 3 new guys to bang his “mate” our heroine?! Oh and doesn’t even bother to introduce the first new “piller mate” that he sends in the bang her brains out. I’d like to say it got better but it didn’t!!
If you want quick porn to get off to and multiples are your thing then this is the book for you.
If you’re in the mood for a book that actually has a plot & makes sense then this isn’t!!!

It was just bad porn. No descriptions, no plot, needs editing desperately. A lot of issues where the author forgets what shes written previously, so in one scene she takes off her clothes and decides they are too wet to put on, the next she has them and then they are gone again. A bunch of issues like this, repeatedly, someone not in the room and then they are, someone across the room and then they are holding her, someone not apart of a conversation and then they have the knowledge of the conversation happening, someone was old enough to remember the previous girl 50 years ago and then later they aren't old enough for that. The ages change A LOT. Insta love, one minute shes fighting this whole thing she has to do, the next she is totally in love with the men despite only knowing their first names. Super short and just sort of abruptly ends.

Not an actual novella

Pro:
- Slightly different take on RH

Cons:
- This was an episode, if that, from a serial
- Incorrectly used words
- The author mixed up settings in the same scene i.e. calling a couch a bed
- Logistically, some of the sex doesn't work as written due to the positions the author used
- No world building
- No character development
- No relationship building
- No plot beyond the blurb
- No real storytelling

Conclusion:
This was poorly written erotica, not an actual story. I don't feel the need to read anything else by this author.

Fast paced!

Really quick read! Fast paced and fast burn with some steamy men. I love the spin the author took on this subject and with shifters.

I liked the story but it was a little too fast for me. The female just jumped into sex with all of the guys and I would've liked to see some introduction before that happened. I understand the magically induced feelings compelled her to do it but I still didn't really like it. It would have been so much better if she would have become intimate with the guys after she got to know them a little better.

Zodiatastic

I so liked this story. The heroine is cute, spunky and kind. I love the guys she has so far (especially her #1). It's going to be interesting how others are added in. Also, it seems like there will be some whipping witches, humans and shifters into shape (maybe). Looking forward to more.

Oh my, I have definitely found a new author to worship. This book started from 0 to 100 in no time, all i could do was hang on. It was a mad dash to an explosive finish and I loved the ride. I can't wait until the next comes out. 😀

I highly recommend this book as well as the Blood Clan series.💖 You won't be disappointed.

I hate it when authors are calling their ménage book as reverse harem. They don't understand the difference between menage and reverse harem. Reverse harem is not about the sex between one girl and multiple men is about the connection they have with each other.

Very short and conflicting details

It was very short. It needs to be edited. Also, you go from her leaving clothes behind in one scene to wearing them the next back to her not having them. Obviously, this wasn't proof read. Then the story just randomly stops.

Hot shifter/witch reverse harem!

This is a fast pace and fast burn romance. The plot is interesting. Felt like the end came too fast. I look forward to book 2.

imagine every single male around suddenly wants you

This is like a smut dream but with actual plot. Karen suddenly is told by the shifter council she has been selected for a special role within shifter society as she is of the 13th zodiac and she has to immediately mate with 12 males, one from each zodiac. She’s to replace the previous woman who had fulfilled this role and is now too old to fulfill it. Until Karen chooses her 12 mates, no single shifters can have s3x without getting violently ill and they can’t find mates. She’s literally the key to shifter society being able to continue to survive as a species.

The shifter council tells her this in a room full of like 60 horny, single shifters. They could barely control themselves when she entered the chamber, but then as soon as she finds out about being the chosen one, it triggers her to go into heat. Suddenly the 60 horny shifters go lust crazy and begin battling each other and trying to grab her to r&pe her. Some of the shifters though hate her because she is only a half shifter who can’t shift and they hate her witch half - so they want to k1ll her.

Cue a sexy dragon shifter rescuing her from that room and keeping her safe as shifters continue to chase them and attack them until they can reach the dragon’s lair. The shifters are so crazed with lust and the prospect of being able to mate that they don’t care if they will k1ll Karen in the process as long as they can f*ck her.

In this first book, Karen is battling her own heat which urges her to just hump whatever is first available, however she wants to actually choose her mates and not give in to the heat’s lust. She chooses her first four mates in this book.

Book is a 4/5 on smut 🌶 (lots of s3x once she begins choosing mates). No kinks beyond DP. This is a Why Choose/Reverse Harem with alpha shifters and strong breeding/mate trope. Triggers would be the potential r&pe aspect of the story line. There’s no 🐝DSM or other kinks.

Read this on kindle. Very short, read in one day. About 150 pages.

Key words: witches, shifters, counsel, reverse harem, erotica, she doesn't get to choose

Strengths: like the whole idea, one female and many males vying for her attentions. Similar idea to "wolf hunt". She can save thier kind, but she has to choose her harem.

Weakness: the writing. ALOT of repetitive sentences, over and over again. A lot of repeat words and thoughts in her head. Like you will read a page, and then the half the next page is the same dialogue.
Lot of insta sex, didn't bug me too much since it fit with the narrative, but the writing needed editing.
Female character is Ok. not great. Asks stupid questions at the wrong time, and her character is all over the place.

Plot:
she is a half blood shifter and witch who can't shift. She helps the shifter counsil once in a while with her magic. They send for her and when she arrives they tell her she is the 13th zodiac and has only 1 hours to choose her 12 mate out of a room full of feral rabbidd shifter men! A dragon shifter helps her escape, and they run!
The men want to both kill her and mate with her, and she gets hurt a lot ( didn't really like how the dragon wasn't too worried about her injuries). She ends up making him her first mate. Then she randomly goes into this sex crazed fever where she doesn't care who or where. He brings her three of his friends, and she immediately has sex with them but that doesn't even help.
They are all in his cave.

it was okey

Have to say this book definitely was not what I expected it to be. Most of book was intimate scenes , I expected more action to be mixed up. Also I feel there’s something Caine is hiding . Especially since on of his friends mentioned that Karen’s heat is worse than the others, I wonder what that meant since they mate for life, how do they know. I couldn’t take name “Karen” seriously, it nice name, but I couldn’t stop laughing every time her name was mentioned . The end was very unique , there was no cliff hangers, basically nothing that would make you want to dive in book two, mentioning 8 other mates is not enough. The end of this book left nothing captivating to look forward to. Since there’s 3 books in series I assume she will find other 4 mates in book 2 and again book will be mainly of them mating. That’s not enough, I feel whole book plot seems like something that you would read as side plot around main events. Book is to simple to make you want continue reading. I expected something to happen at the end, maybe one of mates get injured or her being kidnapped or literally anything so it would make you look forward reading next book to find out what happened. Anyway, the book was okey if you have nothing better to read and just want something simple to pass time

Zodiac Binding is the story of Karen, a half shifter half witch, who finds out she's the 13th Zodiac and must take a mate from all 12 houses of the Zodiac before all the unmated male shifters go insane and die from their inability to mate. I was fairly intrigued by this but was disappointed by the world building.

Karen finds out her world-changing news, meets the sexy and heroic Caine, then the plot seemed to go by the wayside. The entire rest of the book reads as a series of recycled sex scenes over and over with more men being added as the book goes on.

The characters are all fairly one note with no clearly defined personality traits outside of the stereotypical alpha, the lust addled shifter, etc. Karen was an extremely wishy-washy character who could never make up her mind about herself; it seemed like as soon as she was about to take a step forward in character development, she instead took three steps back.

While the storyline itself presented a fun concept, the actual execution of it left a lot to be desired. The spelling and grammar needed some work; the story felt choppy and it was hard to understand exactly what was going on in some places. This story just didn't click for me.

This book was honestly a quick read that I didn't want to end. I found the book only because the author decided to follow me on twitter and I was happy for it! Not because I was able to get a new follower but that I was able to get to read a new book from it.

It's a fast reverse harem novel that did a few things differently and I was so happy to see something that didn't have a main girl that was the type of "I don't need a man to save me, I save myself." I honestly wrote a mini essay for this quick read. Check out my blog post to see what else I had to say about the book.

As a half witch/half coyote hybrid, Karen is looked down upon by many purebred members of both species. That makes it especially shocking for her to learn that she is the thirteenth zodiac and must take twelve mates (one from each sign) in order to save all shifters. This opening book introduces Caine, a dragon shifter and her first mate, as well as three more men. Karen and Caine spend time together and form the start of a strong connection, but the others are mostly just introduced. Not much background information is given on their society or Karen’s new role. I received an advance copy of this book and voluntarily left a review.

Steamy RH With A Dragon!🔥💘🐉
(Read using Kindle Unlimited)
Zodiac Binding (The Zodiac Chronicles, #1)

This has a really good initial concept. 13 Zodiac signs, the 13th is the balance for all of the other shifter breeds etc For me, I found the writing style a bit too loose. I thought it would benefit from proofreading/editing & the storyline being kept on track!👍 This felt more along the lines of an erotica than a spicey/steamy romance read. I have zero issues reading erotica but would prefer it was labeled correctly.👌

Cain, the Dragon shifter, is absolutely lovely, hot & sexy!🔥💘 I did enjoy Karen mostly. She's got a strong back bone.🙏 This has so much potential.

Karen is a super special 13th zodiac sign. She is called to a meeting of the council where she finds out that she has to take a mate from each of the 12 signs. Until then, all of the unmated males are going to try and have sex with her..and she'll want them to. But once she sleeps with them boom they're mated. Thankfully she meets a dragon shifter that she kind of likes and he has some friends.

This wasn't terrible, that's all I can really say about it.

Karin is a witch and coyote shifter but cannot shift. She must pick twelve lovers for the twelve zodiac signs. She is the rare thirteenth sign of the zodiac. She is in danger until she picks her court. This book had action and drama. It also has alot of hot and wild sex in it. The characters are damaged but intriguing. I loved the story.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Had promise but needs editing

The concept is amazing.
The execution... o boy.

The timeline jumps around so much, and we go from the shifters being 35 miles away, to right on top of her.

Very little is explained, and it felt as though there were pages missing.

Characters do one thing and then in the next paragraph they're entering the room for supposedly the first time?

It was confusing and the descriptions in book 1 differ from those in book 2...

Zodiac Binding was pretty hardcore right from the get go, there was definitely no slow build up. It delivered exactly what it promised, lots of steamy scenes, fighting, and magic. There wasn't much character building, and the little bit there was seemed a bit forced between all of the orgies going on. I'm hoping that the next book has more character development and more to the plot other than constant sex because it has an interesting concept that is just getting overshadowed right now.

yummy

I’m so glad I read the reviews before buying. It is important to read her other series before this one if you want to know more about the plot and backstory.
I however, came here for the smut, and I was not disappointed! Sometimes you just want to read smut without a plot.
I am only giving it three stars because of the lack of plot, but I enjoyed this book and will definitely be getting the second one.

umm…

This book could easily be cut in half due to constant repetitiveness of the plot and recap of events that happened only a few chapters prior. A minor plot with things like disappearing clothes that reappear only to be gone again, no real sense of time that contradicts itself, and at least fifty pages of “the chase”. This story is honestly really light er0t ica with a very minor plot. Book two is not on my wish list.
