Acquisitions of the 1930's and 1940's

Rate this book
A selection of paintings, watorcolors and drawings in tribute to Baroness Hilla Von Rebay 1890-1967.

Organized in honor of the first director, Hilla Rebay, after her death in 1967, this exhibition catalogue revisits and pays tribute to Rebay’s collection initiatives in the museum’s earliest and formative years. The catalogue is organized in order of acquisition and illustrated with annotated color and black-and-white images. Together with an introduction by then-director Thomas M. Messer, this publication serves as a visual map of the collection trends during these two decades, and contains both figurative and non-objective works.
