I was trying to live every woman's dream, except my reality has been nothing but a nightmare job and a divorce at the age of thirty-two. Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, my ex-husband, Rick, moved in next door with his life-size Barbie doll. So, that's been fun.
Then, life pitched me a curve-ball in the form of a retired major-league baseball player, Logan Grier. With his panty-dropping smile, he’s like an expertly photoshopped version of David Beckham, and he's single. Could life be perfect after all? Of course not. As always, there had to be a catch. Logan had a secret, and I couldn’t help feeling like the truth was dangling right in front of my face.
With Rick’s daily agenda of torturing me, Logan has been an enticing distraction, despite the little fact that he’s my temporary employee. Plus, I didn’t exactly care that his flirty behavior may have been a plan to get in good with the boss. In any case, I was willing to toss a few balls with him, seeing as my playing field hadn’t had any action in over a year.
That’s when it happened… my two worlds collided. Hot temp met the ex, and a full-on bromance was born, but that’s only the beginning.
The “man flu” has come out of nowhere and hit both Logan and Rick with a virus they’re claiming to be worse than childbirth. In fact, they’re pretty sure their end is near.
Will the “man flu” be the kiss of death, or will it be my window for an opportunistic change?

Man Flu is a hilarious, sweet, sexy romance that takes you on a journey of a divorced single mom reclaiming her life, self confidence and a new love, this story had me LOLing so hard I thought I was going to need to put some depends on.
I absolutely loved Hannah, she is not perfect, has self esteem issues, can’t stand her ex, Rick, or his new woman, she’s snarky and 100% dedicated to her precocious, hot mess of a 5 yr old daughter, Cora. By the way NOT only did Rick cheat on her, he moved next door to her with the much younger woman he cheated on her with. Logan is an ex professional baseball player who has started working as at temp for Hannah. He’s sexy, caring and give just enough of a push to Hannah when she feels down or needs it the most.
I’m a single mom of a daughter (adult now), and there was so much of Hannah’s life that I could empathize with, the pressure, the constantly being busy, the losing yourself because you are so busy working and raising your child you are just too tired to care about yourself. Luckily for Hannah Logan comes into her life and kick starts her journey into reclaiming her life. Hannah frequently says or is involved in situations that are as embarrassing as they are hilarious. I love her inner monologues; she is so frank and funny. Logan what a sweet, sexy, funny man! He melted my heart and I wasn’t even 10% into the book yet. I love how Ms. Ryan included events that happen when people get sick, like vomiting in front of a new potential boyfriend, and other hilarious incidents that occur throughout the book. The secondary cast is fantastic and makes the story thoroughly entertaining; yes even d-bag Rick. Hannah’s assistant Brielle is a sassy, hilarious character. Cora steals the scene several times, the things that come out of that child’s mouth! She’s 5 going on 17.
I strongly recommend Man Flu to anyone who enjoys Rom Com. This was my first book by Ms. Ryan and I’m excited that she has more that I can read.
The title got me!!! (Cover model didn't hurt either...wink!) Never read any Shari J Ryan before. Now she's on my radar!!
What a refreshing and different kind of story. I don't have it in me to write a long winded review but suffice it to say the writing was good. And there so many laugh out loud moments! Talk about stretching out embarrassing moments!! OMG!!! This is a level 10 mortification book!!! So if you are in the mood for a good chuckle with hot hero and a mouthy heroine, and a precocious 5 year old who has no mouth filter, this one is awesome!!!
The only thing that bothered me was the heroine's inner dialogue. She was one miserable woman who had a lot of self esteem and self loathing issues.
This story had potential, but then it became so gross and revolting I couldn't fully engage with it again. The humour is geared towards grade-schoolers in that stage where all manner of bodily nastiness fills them with glee. Snot, vomit, feces, gas, you name it, it's in here. The reviews all claim this book is hilariously funny, but I didn't laugh once. The portrayal of a single, working mother was insulting. Seriously, it's not easy but it's NOT that hard or unfulfilling. The heroine was negative through the whole story, not likable or sympathetic. She couldn't get herself together, like, ever. Her assistant was a ditz. Her kid was a mouthy brat who seemed 13 rather than 5, and her ex, ugh, just no. What a jerk. Logan was lovely and the writer did a better job describing him later, but how old IS she when the first picture she paints of the hero is like she's describing a silver fox - and the guy is only 35?? Since when does the jawline of a man in his 30's 'show his age?! The heroine was only 33 and she's made out as frumpy and unattractive. The writer basically described her as a worn out, saggy bag of cellulite with dark circles and wrinkles and lifeless hair. God, no wonder she was so depressed. Yeah, we all have our days when we don't look our best but I don't really need or want to read about it in a rom-com.
The title is deceptive, too. The actual man-flu part really wasn't that much of the story and again, gross. The story was just one disaster after another and made me cringe. The humour is better suited to schoolyards and boys locker rooms. I've never met a woman who described in lurid detail her bout with stomach flu, and I'm in my 40's... Incidentally, without sagging skin and cellulite even after 2 kids. Clearly the writer thinks that a person over the hill at 30, and that having even one child permanently wrecks the body. If you're grossed out easily, give this a pass. Or give it a pass anyway. It's just not good.

“You see, when a man gets sick, it’s kind of like the world is coming to an end. They don’t handle it very well, at all.”
Hannah Pierce is just a woman trying to keep her life under control. Divorced at age 32, single mom to a feisty 5-year old, stuck in a job in an office full of sexist douches… oh yeah, and her ex-husband and his Barbie doll girlfriend live in the house next door. She’s not sure who she ticked off to deserve this daily torture, but she’s doing the best she can to keep her chin up and be the best mom she can be. Things may be looking up when her new temp, Logan Grier, shows up for work. He’s an insanely hot retired MLB player and he seems to be interested in her. Despite the fact that she’s technically his boss, she decides to take him up on his offer of a date. But when the “man-flu” descends on her home, there’s nothing like a little vomit to either make or break a new relationship!
“I knew it,” he says. “What?” I croak. “There’s something between us—with us.”
I’m going to start by saying that I can honestly say that I’ve never read another book with so many bodily fluids being thrown around, seriously, there’s a lot of puke and other things in this one. But OMG, how spot on was Shari J Ryan’s depiction of the “man flu” though?! So perfect! I can also say that there haven’t been many books that have made me laugh as much as this one did! I have a feeling that Hannah is going to be the hero of pretty much every woman who reads this book, whether you have kids or not, whether you’re married, divorced, or otherwise, I think we can all relate to this woman and wished we could be as unfiltered as she was! I loved that she always said what was on her mind, especially when it came to having to deal with her ex-husband, who happened to be the biggest idiot alive. And then there was every embarrassing, cringe-worthy moment between her and Logan. Some of the stuff was so uncomfortable to even read, but she handled it with as much poise as she possibly could and, for that, I wanted to give her a big ol’ high five! Then there was Logan, who was pretty much the most understanding, caring, and sweetest man to ever live. I really loved him. He was a bit of a mystery for a while, but he was always such a great guy. For all the laughs and the crazy stuff that went on, there were also a lot of moments that tugged at my heartstrings. I also loved the twist the comes toward the end, I had sort of forgotten all about that, so it was a cute surprise. I really enjoyed this book, it was real and completely unfiltered, but I think so many people will be able to relate to it and get a lot of laughs along the way!
“You must really like me, huh?” he says, lightheartedly, giving me a gentle squeeze. “We survived the man flu, and we’re still speaking to each other. I think that should answer your question on whether I like you.”

Shari J Ryan has brought tears to my eyes again, but this time from laughter! This romantic comedy was hysterical and sexy at the same time! When I saw the title and the description I had to read it! This story is brilliant, the Man Flu is such a real thing, I enjoyed everything about Hannah’s and Logan’s story. Hannah is such a likable character, all of us women and mothers can relate to her. She’s had some stuff happen in her life and instead of it bringing her down, she stood tall and didn’t let it defeat her. A very unselfish person, she worked, took care of her daughter and didn’t think of dating much. Logan, I love him! I was instantly swooned off my feet! He also had some tough times in his life, and like Hannah he still stood strong. You have to meet these two and other characters in this story! Under this amazing sexy cover is a story that will make you laugh, tear up and swoon uncontrollably! See how Words with Friends, the flu, annoyingly ex’s perfect girlfriends and butt cheeks can possibly bring two together! Thank you Shari for writing this, I needed this one in my book life!
Remove the unhappy little tree Logan is no forest Ranger😂
Omg! I give this book a million freaking stars. This book had me cracking up!! This is hands down my most favorite romantic comedy! I laughed so hard my stomach hurts!!!
Hannah got divorced because of her ex cheated, he even moved in next door to her with his new girlfriend. Leaving Hannah to raise their 5 year old daughter Cora, who is a complete hoot! Logan an ex baseball player is Hannah's new temp at her job. The sparks fly. Everyone is getting the flu.
I know for a fact I will definitely read this book over and over. This is the most enjoyable, hilarious book. I highly recommend!!!!!!!!
I really enjoyed this book. This just proves that even in the fictional sense not all stories are fairy tales and white nights. Logan and Hannah's story isn't your typical single mom looking for some white night to swoop in and save the day. This book had me laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes and not because it was emotional. It was because this is what real life is like at times. The chaos, things not going as they should and yes men are the biggest babies when they get sick. Shari J. Ryan nailed it with this book. This is definitely a must read!!!
Man Flu was such a great and fun read! I found Hannah to be a character that was so incredibly easy to relate to and I swear some of those scenes were straight from life. I laughed out loud so many times and Logan -- just swoon now! Logan is the most perfect beefcake and definitely creates for ovary explosions. This book has everything in it and I can't strongly encourage you enough to go out and one click this wonder!
Man Flu, is legitimately one of my favorite phrases. It's a real thing, and most wives know all to well, what it entails. It's when a man ,simply thinks he is dying over a common cold, a fever, or something so small, and us women have to attend to them as if they are babies.
This is my first book by Shari. And I can absolutely guarantee you it will not be my last. This book has it all, it has EVERYTHING!! It entails the challenges we women have, after having kids and getting older. It shows the challenges of being a working mother, who wishes they could just stay home all day and be with their children. It shows that crap happens and you just have to run with it, because life goes on. This book had no filter, which I loved. I love a heroine that is not afraid to be herself, that speaks freely, and can take crap and give it back to you ten fold. This book is one of the funniest books I have ever read. I had tears rolling down my face from laughing so hard. My stomach hurt from not being able to stop laughing. I loved this book so much, if I could give Man Flu a hundred stars, I would.
Hannah is a 33 year old mother and a divorcee. When not working as director of marketing, she is just a mom, who is trying to avoid her ex-husband who lives next door with his barbie doll. The only real thing she has going for her is, the game Words With friends.
Logan is a retired 35 year old Major League baseball player. After retiring from the Majors he needed more from life and decided to make a career out of his previous college degree.
I do not want to give anything away, so I am not going to say much more, but this. I loved Cora, loved her. She is that 5 year old little girl, that gets her sassiness from her mom, and is not afraid to speak her mind, she is the one that made this book happen in more ways than one in my opinion.
This book is a Rom-Com, a second chance love story, it is a book about people accepting you for who you truly are, it is a book that has placed it's self in the top 3 category of my all time favorites of 2017, so for that reason, you should read this book, but word of advice make sure you pee before you read it, otherwise you will have wet pants from laughing so hard.
This a book for every mom out there... Whether you are a single mom or not, Man Flu captures the worst of the worst and casts it in a humorous and hopeful light.
I liked Hannah and Logan and honestly had to laugh at a couple of the situations they found themselves in. I also appreciated the emotional growth we saw Hannah go through while she completed the process of saying good bye to her marriage and moving forward.
As much as I enjoyed this book, some of the quirks in Logan’s personality kept me from giving this a full 4 stars. As much as I liked him, some of the hot/cold stuff put me off of him a little bit too.
Overall, this is a super fun book with some heftier emotions woven in. There is a bit of a reminder for all of us about taking care of our selves and remembering to love ourselves enough to share.
"Meaning of Man flu is a phrase that refers to the idea that men, when they have a bad cold, exaggerate and claim they have the flu."
For example, "I have contracted a potentially fatal case of man-flu. Your lack of compassion is putting my life in danger!"
I just finished a book that put me in tears & depression so this was a definitely the book I needed. It put me in tears as well but with laughter this time. It has been a while that a book made me laugh this hard. My hubby even questioned if I was ok. I would read a few lines and then he would be laughing with me!
Cora has got to be my favorite book child ever hands down and Hannah has to be one of my favorite Heroines just to put up with her exhusband Rick and Barbie next door! I am so in love with Logan. He left me swooning for more. I usually don't say this but I actually would like to see Rick get his own book. He was such a jerk but I really think in some ways he still loved Hannah and realized he was missing a great thing after all he did to her. Karma got him good is all I can say :)
This was a super-cute romance. I really liked Logan, Hannah and Cora. I loved the "problems" the hero and heroine both had - simply hysterical and though provoking at the same time. I will definitely be returning to Shari Ryan's books especially this series.
OMG! I loved Man Flu. This book is sweet, sexy and hilarious. I haven't read a book that had me laughing so much and the hot sexy tension between Logan and Hannah. I loved reading the journey of Logan and Hannah story and meeting other characters along the way. I love reading Shari Ryan books. Never disappointed and her books always take me to a happy place.
This book was a recommendation and it was a fun, quick, easy read; however, it wasn't quite as hilarious as all the reviews say at least for me. I had some laughs and it was an interesting read but I just don't think it was for me.
Very funny! Although there was a lot of toilet humor which isn’t my fave. Poor Hannah just could t seem to catch a break. Logan was a good man despite what he’d been through but he was a little to sympathetic toward Hannah’s ex husband (who was the typical clueless, uninvolved man). This was my first book by this author but I’d like to check out some more. Safe read.
Omg! I was in tears laughing ! I may have look a little bit crazy on the train laughing my ass off! .. Shari Ryan thanks again for writing this amazing story a little bit different that my other reads by you but I def loved it! .. readers: If you need a good laugh this will be a great pick for the night.. if you like baseball you only have 1 ball”
“Yes, I love you. It’s been a year, and during that time, I fell for your personality. No, I didn’t know what you looked like, but that was just the extra good part of everything”
You will meet Shermanator!
Brazilian Wax is never fun but with a Brielle and Hannah.. it’s hilarious
OMG Man Flu was so freakin hilarious that I almost can't even write this review about anything else! Hannah thought she was living her dream life, but it's become nothing but a nightmare. She's now a divorced woman at 32, working a nightmare job, and her ex-husband has moved next door to her with his barbie doll girlfriend, so she's slowly losing it. Now there's a new temp at her company in the form of a retired baseball player named Logan Grier, who is super hot. However, her two worlds collide when the hot temp meets the ex when the "man-flu" comes out of nowhere. Seriously, I could barely type all of that because I was laughing so hard thinking about this story. Throughout this story I laughed and laughed until I cried & my sides hurt! Shari J. Ryan is simply brilliant writing a story that is so entertaining and hilariously realistic when it comes to romance after divorce that I'm still highly entertained, and know that will I read it over & over again. Coming down with stomach flus in public, entertaining waxing sessions, men who get sick & think they are dying, sexy times after divorce with a new man, and tiny humans who are too smart for their own good are just the tip of the iceberg in this amazing piece of goodness! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Hannah is having a hard time adjusting to being a single, working mom. Her ex-husband moved in next door to her with his much younger lover. While being pulled into a million directions, Hannah reaches her breaking point.
What I enjoyed about this story was the laugh out loud moments I had. The interaction between Hannah and her assistant Brielle are hilarious. Especially when the new guy shows up as the intern. Shari Ryan nailed it perfectly on what it is like when a man is sick. Sorry guys, but it’s true. The situations that Hannah finds herself in are absolutely hilarious at times.
What took me out of the story was the pacing. I thought the storyline advanced way too quickly. The plot twist though more than made up for it though. I had no idea that was coming, and it was perfectly executed.
This book. Can I just say.... I read this in one day. I couldn't put it down! It was hilarious!!! Logan and Hannah were perfect and I wish there was more!!! Amazing!
This story was great. It’s a rom com standalone and the first story I have read from Shari. I will definitely be reading more from Shari and catching up on the books I have not read of hers yet.
Hannah is a single mum, divorcée and living next door to her ex husband and his ‘barbie’ doll girlfriend. She is a funny, sarcastic character, she’s a bit of a perfectionist, but I quite liked her character. Everyone gets sick, and I thought it was quite accurate about how men act when they have the man flu.
Logan is an ex Major League Baseball player. He has just taken a temp job at Hannah’s workplace and he is incredibly tempting. Hannah can’t work out how someone so sexy and gorgeous can be single!
There were quite a few times in this book I felt sad for Hannah’s character. It just seemed like she has had to endure so much in her old relationship. She tends to put her foot in her mouth a lot and finds herself in some embarrassing situations. It made me laugh out loud a few times. This slow burn romance was great and I recommend you grab a copy when you can!
Shari J. Ryan wrote one of the most emotional books I have ever read with A Heart of Time, but I also fell in love with her words. She is an amazing writer that can pull on your emotions and put you through an angst-filled ride. So, Man Flu was a quite the surprise. This one was filled with laugh out loud moments. Still an emotional read as we see Hannah’s journey, but lighter than previous books I have read by her.
In her early thirties, Hannah finds herself divorced, but even worse, her ex and his new play thing are now her neighbors. Now she is learning to deal how to be a single, working parent, deal with her ex and move forward. I loved Hannah. Even with everything she has been through, she is strong and determined.
Logan Grier is now a retired MLB player. He was able to live his dreams, even so, he wants more out of life and decides to use his degree. He was a flirt, but you can’t help but like him. Now he finds himself working for Hannah.
When Hannah finds herself in a situation she never expected, two men hit with the Man Flu, the laughter ensues. All woman who have cared for a man who has been sick knows exactly what I am talking about. I laughed so much.
Man Flu is a second chance at love story that will have you smiling. I loved the characters and the story so much. I also loved Hannah’s journey throughout this story and learning to find herself again. A great read from Shari J. Ryan.
This was a super cute book that had me laughing throughout. My first read from this author, I really liked her sense of humor and enjoyed the journey of self discovery she took our heroine through in this book. Being a divorced single mom I could relate to much of the same experiences and struggles Hannah goes through. She kind of has to remember who she is and fall in love with herself again before falling in love with someone else (Logan) as well as clear up some unresolved feelings about her ex and his new lady. I feel like the author did this in a really honest and straightforward way and I really liked that about this book. I loved these characters flaws and all and I think most people will feel the same. And the flu part! I was laughing out loud and cringing for them through the whole thing as I'm sure anyone would who has experienced all the wonders of having the flu, and double that when you experience all those things in front of a new partner, you kind of have to just laugh or you'll cry. It was a great book and I look forward to reading more of this author's work!
Man Flu is a great funny read. Hannah is a great character. She's divorced with a five year old. Her ex (Rick) lives next door with his barbie doll looking girlfriend (Tiana). She meets Logan when he comes into her work as her intern. Logan is not a just out of college kid. He's a sexy hot retired baseball player Hannah and Logan have a connection. One by one they get the flu. First Hannah's daughter, then Hannah, then Logan and Rick. Of course Rick and Logan get the man flu which seems to be worse they everybody else. I loved all the characters. They are all fun and great. I even liked Rick and Tiana. Towards the end there was a twist that I never saw coming. If you're looking for a sweet fun read then you should check this one out.
This book started really good. I was smiling while reading it. Lots of swoon and laugh worthy moments in the book. I also kind of connected with the female MC. This was also one of my most aniticipated rom com books in my TBR for the year.
But towards the 2/3 to 3/3 part of the book, things got ridiculous. The premise of the "man flu" intrigued me but when it got to that part, I was shaking my head. It was silly and the use of this element in the book was not good.
Also, I find Logan's dilemma a bit shallow. I know, I know, it's a serious matter but something in the book made me think that it's a shallow dilemma.
I will still give this author a try and read the other books in the series.
Man Flu by Shari Ryan is one of the best books I've had the pleasure of reading this year. Cover to cover Ryan causes readers to relate, hope and laugh! Douchebag cheating Ex ☑️, child determined to make daily visits to the school nurse ☑️, and a hot ex baseball playing temp located just on the other side of her Pepto bismol pink office☑️, Ryan throws all this and more to single working mom, Hannah, as she just tries to get through each hour of the day. Ryan makes us laugh, clap and take pride in her journey through the worst plague ever to hit a household. I'm not sure what I expected going into this story. I knew Ryan could make any woman identify with dealing with the dreaded Man Flu. What I didn't expect was the interesting, sweet love story that happens along the way. By far, Man Flu will be one of my top reads for this year. It's a fun, light-hearted, LOL, unique read and so worth your one click. If you are new to Ryan's work, I highly suggest you start here and work your way through each incredible story she has written. She is an author worth your investment.
OMG!!! I absolutely floved this book!!! Hannah is a single divorced mom. She is sarcastic and funny as he*l. She is also kind of a perfectionist.
Logan is a sexy as he*l former Major League Baseball player.( I don't wanna give much away about him)
So this book literally had me laughing so freaking hard I cried and my stomach still hurts from it!!! But it was also sweet and it was a really good slow burn, which I love!
Shari J. Ryan has another hit on her hands! Man Flu was absolutely hilarious! Poor Hannah! Hannah has the worst luck of anyone I know. I felt so sorry for her so many times during this book. I loved Logan!! He was the perfect man for Hannah! If you're looking for a slow burn romance, this book is for you!
