Heather Linn never had any notion of reinventing the Vampire. Her real intention was to give them back their bite. "They are not our friends, they are not our lovers, they are the embodiment of evil, the monsters under your bed, the demon in the shadows. They don't want to be us, they want to eat us"

Pretty darn terrible. Author get your act together!

This hasn't even been proof read. You should know better, it is your third book. I read over a third of the book and there is between 1 and 5 grammatical errors or typos on pretty much every page. Basic, basic errors such as full stops and commas. The grammar is just atrocious and believe me, I am not an uptight grammar Nazi. Overall the writing quality is poor.

Characters - Cat is too annoying and whiny to live and there is no real difference in voice between Akia and Cat. Akia turns out to be a chump. The first third is poorly written, whiny, repetitive waffle.

Now, why I am giving 2 stars.

The author has done better and I know she has a good imagination. I am dying to see where the story goes from here and I will probably go back to the book at some stage and see if I can push past this point. My suggestion is - get a good editor or better still, team up with someone who can really write. Be the imaginative genius to a writing foil. Some of the descriptive writing is quite thoughtful and not bad but then its ruined by rubbish dialogue and ridiculous behaviour.

One of the top writing duos of the in print market started out 10 years ago both as equally poor writers (I read them) so give it some thought...
