I love it when an author can create a world that bring elements into I normally do not agree with what I perceive as "real" and I can happily go on reading. This author is a champion in this most of the time--only once something was brought in where I had to say "whoa" and my reading was somewhat interrupted. This happened at almost the end of the book, so where I would usually take off a whole star I am only taking off 1/2 of a star.

Otherwise I have to say that I loved the vacation that that Cherie Claire took me on, I loved the characters that were so humanly constructed, and I loved that even though one could perceive the story as really dark there was always that element of hope.

Books 4 & 5 are ordered, and I am disappointed that #6 is just a novella and only available in e-reader form. 4.5 stars

I have read both previous books in this series, the first i really enjoyed and the second slightly less so but this book though well written and plotted I found annoying.I get that the heroine has dealt with tragedy and disaster, losing everything in the process.I understand her anger and desperate search to reconnect with her dead daughter but sadly I found Viola annoying, selfish, and condescending. She treats her cat better than her poor husband who she seems to feel infinitely superior to and makes constant references to his supposed lack of intelligence but happily uses him and expects his constant love and support.Throughout i just wanted him to grow a backbone and tell her he was done.A few simple conversations could have resolved half of the situations she found herself in and her recklessness and ignoring of advice was irritating.I stopped liking the heroine as she acted like a spoilt brat rather than a supposed mature and intelligent woman.I'm disappointed as I thought I'd found a great new series but doubt that I'll trouble to buy the next one.

More Questions Than Answers

By now, Viola’s fans are clamoring for her to recognize TB’s value. To me, there wasn’t enough of the supernatural interaction in this book, and far too much travelogue data. Very interesting perspective, but too often i feel that Vi is seriously one of the most clueless characters ever. I also found it unrealistic that Carmine would refuse to give her essential information sooner, knowing the danger she’s. In. Hope there’s another book soon !

Where do I start? I loved the story/plotline. Honestly, this is a really interesting take on ghost stories and keeps me intrigued for the whole book. However, Vi is pissing me off! By the end of the book, I was really irritated by her lack of faith, and certainly her inability to trust those who love her, but judging those same people for not trusting her with their life events. She does show growth from book to book, but maybe this one hit a little close to home. I don't like when the institution of marriage is treated so nonchalantly. I'm really hoping she finally comes to her senses soon!

Angels, witches, and demons

Very amazing reading. You can be the descendant from any group, but that doesn't make you one. It's a choice. The war between light and darkness, or a better lay out, the war between good and evil, have raged for a long time, and their is no clear time frame of how long the battle has been fault. The truth be told, the battle is for the soul.

Fun continuation of Viola’s story

Viola Valentine is on another travel writers junket, this time on the Natchez Trace. Along the way she learns more about her abilities and her husband’s special abilities. And love. Making the story bittersweet.
