This is a huge mistake. Not only flying in a tiny airplane over the Rockies in a storm, but also making this move to Denver in the first place. To work a job that would make my boyfriend my new boss. Definitely a mistake. But not as big a mistake as living with my pretentious parents who want to control everything about my life. Stella Best is relocating from New York to live with her boyfriend, Aaron McMann, in Denver. En route, however, a sudden storm causes the small propeller plane to crash, stranding her in the Rocky Mountains. Surviving the crash, Stella now faces the blistering cold, as well as wild animals who see her as easy prey. But Stella is not the only person on the mountain. Rescued by Lukas, a brawny woodsman of few words, she must now share a small cabin with the scruffy, but handsome, man until the storm clears. The writing is great, but I had to stop very early on in the book because of one of main characters having sex with someone who is not going to end up being the other main character. I really can't read books that include outside of the relationship sex. I can't get into the love and relationship and immerse in the book when I've just read one of the characters being intimate with someone else. Many others may love the book and not have an issue with outside the relationship sex, but to me it detracts from the story and usually ruins it. I stop reading when I encounter it.
The Woodsman was ok,but for me he could have stayed in the woods...
The Woodsman was ok,but for me he could have stayed in the woods... Lukas wasn’t a bad guy but I don’t know what Stella saw in him at 1st, and for me one of the reasons this story suffered soo greatly was we didn’t ever get hid p.o.v. and if your going to create a fairly complicated character like Lukas ( even if he does feel s little been there done that ) we NEED his thoughts and feelings at least every now and then, not just others reactions to him from the outside looking in.... Sighs, while Lukas was interesting and often complex character their time in the cabin ( as in what happened between them there) and by the way, nothing much really happened , he seemed to mostly either avoid her or ignore her or argue w/her ,soo the fact she’s later sooo attracted to him she wants him any way she can have him doesn’t really make sense.... But still the story was a 100% stronger than I expected,no offense but the look of it just reminded of too many books I’ve come across on a daily basis that more sex than any thing else and while this story had p l e n t y of sex, honestly I was bored by and and skimming it,but then again I’m also very very bored w/bdsm showing up in almost ever “romance” book out there anymore.... Bdsm especially w/female “submissive “s or submissive types or books w/the h in that role rub me the wrong way,it’s just not me I’d rather Domme than be dominated ,but I did really respect the fact that Stella went into it w/her eyes open wide and went in willingly because she really wanted. Lukas and not just because he made her panties wet and ordered her to do it and she went like a naïve doormat ... No, no here,in plenty of other books maybe but not here, and that that I liked... He tried to discourage her and when he couldn’t he was rough but fair I felt and was clear about what he wanted and well mostly why , I felt he was lacking in aftercare... I would liked it better ( not enjoyed it) but liked it better if it had shown him taking care of her after he played with her, instead of say skipping to later that day or night or to the next day entirely but in this case I guess it’s a minor niggle... But in real life or fiction aftercare ( taking care of the sub. And making sure they are mentally, emotionally and physically safe after a scene or play should never be skipped) but Really I didn’t like Stella at 1st her lack of backbone w/everyone especially her “boyfriend “ Aaron was just short of disgusting to watch, but thankfully when she found it, she used it but for me there was just too much sex and I wasn’t interested or connected to the bdsm part of it in the slightest.. I would loved to seen them connect in ways outside of the bedroom to really believe they had something more than just sex between them ,especially when Lukas’s dad came into to play... To bad but for me personally I got lost , not in the woods but in why the two wanted each other outside of sex and the command and control of their bdsm type relationship... And to me for that we needed a lot less sex and a 100% more of the H’s p.o.v
This was erotic and sensual and different. It's refreshing that the plot moved in location. The action moved from the cabin to the boardroom to the house. The couple visited a sex club and we find a juicy secret on the male lead Lukas. I love that Lukas is a troubled man who is searching for his balance in life. I like that Parker made him fragile and unbreakable. This author writes different character traits for the men in her books. There is freedom in the way she crafts her art. This book was definitely worth five stars. ☺
Wow, this story reminded me of Fifty Shades of Grey.
Stella is from a rich family and she packs up everything to move to Colorado to work at the company her boyfriend works for. She ends of crashing in the mountains only to be rescued by Lukas. From the get go there is an instant attraction on her part and when she leaves the mountain, he walks out of her life, but she has reservations, even when getting back to civilization what what she wanted.
Lukas is not what he appears and he has a very dark side. The sexual scenes were very graphic and detailed not to mention hot enough to need a cold shower after reading them.
The story had some twists and turns but it was a good fast read. I enjoyed Breanna, Stella's mentor and now best friend. Her story is next and I will definitely boy the next installment.
I really wanted to love this book. The description gave off one of my favorites plots of being in a plain crash then trapped with a stranger...... the book started off strong and I really enjoyed Lukas and Stella. The story quickly turned into BDSM and I have to say that really disappointed me. It’s not that it was done badly, because it worked for the story and Lukas, but it because way to much center stage for me when it came to the drama and mystery.
For that reason, I’m only able to give it 3 stars. I did enjoy the plot when it didn’t revolve around the BDSM, and the characters were great, out of the bedroom, I just felt that the sex took away from my connection with the characters. Be warned that it does end at 36% of the kindle ebook (atleast on Kindle Unlimited). #2OCCJD
Wish I could give this book more than 5 stars! I've read most books by M.S. Parker and this one is by far my favorite!!!
Stella and Aaron are a couple. He gets her a job in Denver. She's getting ready to fly to Denver when someone on her plane has a medical issue and her flight gets cancelled. Because she must get to Denver she attempts to rent a car but there's none available. She employs a private plane to take her, but they wind up crashing. Even though the pilot and her are mostly okay, she decides to leave the crash site. Soon, she finds herself cornered by wolves. She's rescued by a "mountain man". Poor Stella, if it wasn't for bad luck, she'd have no luck at all and that luck continues as this story unfolds.
So many times in this book I found my mouth wide open saying "WTF"! Amazing, amazing story! The scenario was awesome and there were so many twists, my head was spinning!! The characters were great, except Aaron (he was just an a$$).
Talk about drama! This story is full of it and then some. Stella is faced with multiple changes in her life, new job in a new state. She has an unforgettable encounter with a sexy woodsman who saved her life. In return, she saves his!
Loved every angsty word of this story. I couldn’t put it down and I didn’t stop reading until it was over.
It was a good story and I liked the characters, but the title and intro are a little misleading. The woodsman isn't really a woodsman. The plane crash and being rescued are only about two chapters worth. It is kinda a let down because I thought there would more surviving.
Ok… I have to admit something here… I was hoping that this would be some romance story about a hunky woodsman who lived in the middle of nowhere who has to help a wealthy, spoiled damsel in distress and they end up falling in love as she has to adjust to this new lifestyle… yada, yada, yada!
Well… it’s not… exactly.
Yes, our heroine Stella Best is rich. Yes, she ends up stranded in the Rockie Mountains after her plane crashes in the middle of a storm… yes, she is saved by a hunky woodsman who takes her into his small timber cabin and looks after her until they can get her back to civilisation. But all is not as it seems, or should I say, her hunky woodsman isn’t really a mountain dwelling woodsman at all. Far from it!
Now, I’m not going to spoil everything for you… but Stella’s life certainly takes on an interesting turn after her plane crash and subsequent rescue. He douchebag of a boyfriend is up to no good and after moving across the country to live with him and start working at the same company as him - she soon realises that she may have made an awful mistake putting her faith and trust in him.
When she discovers he’s been cheating on her, she’s all set to go back home. Back to her disapproving, judgmental parents and her perfect sisters. It’s not the life she wants anymore, so she has to decide what she wants.
There is another contributing factor though… and that’s her new boss! There’s a spark there right from day one… and there’s definitely a passion burning between them but he’s complicated. Can she get past the walls he has put up around his heart? And will he be able to get her to cry wolf?
Really, really enjoyed this story, even though it was far from what I expected. Lukas is such a dark and troubled character but you can see that he has the potential to be so much more than the man he believes himself to be and if anyone can get through to him, it’s Stella.
There’s certainly enough twists and revelations to keep you’re mind busy and constantly questioning what going on.
The ending is both heartwarming and vindicating and I’m looking forward to reading the follow up story about Stella’s friend Breanna, especially if it features more about Lukas and Stella.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Wow, this may be a bit dark, mind blowing, and an intense romance! This story is full of emotional angst; it is riveting, dark, and wicked with some steamy sex scenes that are off-the-chart hot! I wasn't expecting the turn this story took; it has quite an unexpected surprise that may leave you flabbergasted or even infuriated but it is jaw-dropping good! From the very first page, I was spellbound by these fantastically described characters that you will find yourself falling in love with. I really enjoyed reading this book and the momentum of the story keeps you wanting to read more that you can’t put it down! M.S. Parker manages to weave an intriguingly dark and twisted plot with artfully developed main characters. Lukas Grayson, a handsome muscular woodsman of few words, has a ruff edge to him while relaxing at his small cabin in the Rocky Mountains. Lukas meets Stella Best when the small propeller plane that she paid to fly her to Denver crashes in the Rocky Mountains during a bad storm. Stella was on her way to Denver for a job working with her fiancé, Aaron. When Stella leaves the crash site and the pilot, she is rescued by Lukas when she is surrounded by wolves that see her as their prey. When Stella meets Lukas, they have some serious chemistry between them, building up to what is sure to be a crazy sensual relationship. What Stella does not know is that Lukas is a successful businessman, very wealthy, but has a penchant for BDSM. Will Stella meet Lukas again after their brief encounter at his cabin? The scenes are well written, fast-paced and flow smoothly from one scene to the next. There are several twists and turns within the storyline that is full of action, drama, romance, and intrigue that it will pique your interest—you will not be disappointed.
Stella just graduated from college and now is embarking on a new life in a new city, with a new job, and her same old boyfriend. Only she doesn't make it. Ends up in a plane crash meeting Lukas. While encamped with him, she learns a dirty secret. After being rescued she heads to her job, where she finds out the company has been bought out and her boyfriend is a jerk. The latter making the most impact on her. Lukas purchased the company she is working for and they are going on a retreat for team building! HOORAY!! There Lukas and Stella make their move. With his past will it last? What does Stella want?
He can't just let her go. There is something about her. But he has so many secrets in his past that he isn't sure what will happen between him and Stella. What happens when she learns about his dominance? That alone could scare her off. What about the rest, that lies just under his skin, itching to come out? What then? She'll run from the hills. Or maybe she won't because he'll have to let her go before anything serious can develop between them.
I loved the BDSM part, where it fell apart for me, was all the complications that Lukas has created in his life. I'm not going to spoil it for you. Sweet baby Jesus, some of those scenes are amazing. Pure gold. But the rest of the story around it, is just ehh. I would have loved if Stella had lunch with Aunt Millie and told her what was going on with her and Aaron and her and Lukas, I'm sure Aunt Millie would have had some GREAT insight into the 'problems'. But we never revisit her again.
Stella had just finished collage and her boy friend was in Denver working. They had kept up there relationship even through it was hard. He had gotten her a job where he worked and she was going to move to Denver. She needed to be there sooner than she had planned. While on the way there was a early snow storm and the plane she was in went down. They were in the Rocky Mountains some where. The pilot was hurt so Stella set out to find help. While out she ran into a pack of wolves and had no cell for to call for help. The next thing she remembers is a large mountain mans taking care of the wolves. He takes her back to his cabin. While there the storm get worse and she is stuck with him till it ends. She finally makes it out of the mountains and on to Denver and starts her new job. While there her boyfriend Aaron had been sleeping with his boss and Stella learns about this. She moves out and into A place with her mentor. Just when you think things couldn't get worse. The company gets sold and the new boss is none other than? You got it the mountain man hero. Before he takes over the company he orders a mandatory retreat to get to know the staff. Things heat up for Lukas and Stella. They start out as just sex but we all know how well that went over. You must read the rest to find out the ending.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book was a slow burn but once it started there was no stopping. Warning it is darker than you would think. Definitely doesn't have triggers like most dark romances but it is definitely an acquired type of spice. Stella is fresh out of college in Michigan and looking to start job hunting. Luckily her boyfriend Aaron swoops in and saves the day. He gets her a marketing job where he works. It involves her relocating to Denver. What could go wrong? She's finally going to be with her boyfriend, no more long distance, and a job that is in the field she majored in. Good things never last or were they even good to begin with. Stella's life is thrown out of balance when her plane crashes on her way to Denver. She's rescued by a very standoffish man who seems to be living off the grid. After days locked in a tiny cabin, he takes her to the nearest town where her boyfriend comes and takes her "home." Book was good and I stayed up way to late at night to finish it. There were quite a bit of twist I didn't see coming and others that I was pretty sure I knew. Reason I rated it 4.5 instead of 5 is towards the end when it all was wrapping up, I did skim through. I was pleasantly surprised with the ending. I was afraid it would take a disappointing MMC arc turn.
Stella is moving away from her wealthy parents in New York, to live and work in Denver where her long term boyfriend is. Sue to bad weather the plane diverted and landed in Cheyenne. She has to be in Denver for new job. She finds someone who said he'll take her, but they crash in the Rockies, there's lots of snow and her pilot has a broken leg. She decides to go look for a road, some help, something. Not a good idea it's dark, she spots a wolf, then another, then she slips and bangs her head. Which is where Lukas found her, and took her to the safety of his cabin. Eventually the storm cleared and Lukas drove her to town, then she made it to Denver. She didn't really want to be there, she didn't want the job, wasn't sure of her boyfriend, and Lukas turned out to be her new boss. This book is full of twists and turns. It is also a really good read, loved it. Yet another winner from M. S. Parker Sue P
OMG this book was outstanding, by far the best MS Parker book to date, and in my opinion deserves more than five stars.
This book is about Stella and Lukas, Stella is just starting out in the work world after finishing school and what better way to do that then having her fiancé get her a job. But when a plane crash en route to Denver finds Stella stranded in the mountains and rescued by Lukas. While this book seems to be Stella's story, as the main character, I really feel for Lukas and the life that he has lead and will really pull at your heart strings.
This story and the twists and turns that it takes will leave your heart pounding and Lukas and Stella's love story will leave you wanting more.
Thank you MS Parker for this amazing book, I don't know how you will top this one.
Wow! This is an amazing MS Parker book, full of action and romance. Stella was in a plane crash and is rescued by the sexy mountain man Lukas. This story and the twists and turns that it takes will leave your heart pounding and Lukas and Stella's love story will leave you wanting more . I didn’t want the story to end- With each turn of the page, I wasn’t sure where the story would take me but I was hooked on the drama, the angst, the intensity, the passion, …oh there were so many twists that I literally remember sitting there at times going OMG or asking myself “What just happened?”. There is a definitely a villain in this story and you will dislike this person intensely just like I did. What a fabulous and exciting read from Ms. Parker!!
My Rating: 4.6 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."
This is my favorite book by this author since her time travel stories. This one has a recent graduate heading out to work her first job and fate seems to put a monkey wrench to her plans at every step of the way. She meets someone new while trying to figure out her life, and the attraction is unlike anything she has felt before. A must read story for new and old readers alike. "I woke up with the dream clear as crystal, vivid as life, pulsing in my brain." "He studied me with those slate blue eyes for a long moment before shrugging." "You should pay attention," he said, that low, whiskey-smooth voice a caress on my jagged nerves." "He was like poison, like candy, like a drug, all wrapped up into one, and I was addicted already."
I really liked it and wanted to keep reading. Lukas is all mysterious grumpy alpha. Difficult and hard to handle but with a lot of potential. The good thing is that Stella is a strong woman that when she sets her mind to something, she goes for it and doesn’t coward away. She starts with the worst luck and a good for nothing boyfriend but what is sweet about this book is that Lukas gives her the value no one else does and she gives him understanding and patience. Even when she is not supposed to, she cares about his well being and little by little she shows him that he can put his trust on her. Plus more power to her because that man is intense and she never cries wolf. Every encounter between them makes for a hot fan yourself story. Trust me… You want to read this.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book for an honest review. I loved Stella! She’s been with her boyfriend forever and meeting him in Denver to be with him and start a new job. When all heck breaks loose and her attend to get to Denver is delayed in more ways than one. When she meets Lukas our brooding mountain man she is intrigued by him and after he helps her and gets her on her way, she just can’t seem to get him out of her head. Will these two run into each other again? Will Stella ever get to Aaron or will the mountain man win out in the end? This is a must read and I highly recommend this book.
This is your next book, trust me! This book is so amazing it is very hard for me to express it. You’ve got to read this book. It needs to move to the top of your book pile. I read this book straight through on the edge of my bed the whole time. I couldn’t even bother to put it down to go to the restroom let alone stand to stop reading it to do anything else. The amount of work that went into this book, its characters, the eight or so mind-blowing plot twists and the spectacular finale is astronomical. You’re going to love this, thank M. S. For the best night of your life and beg for more.
Stella thought moving to Denver to start a new job and be with her boyfriend Aaron would be everything she wanted until her plane crashed and she was rescued by Lukas. Little did she know her life was going too be completely changed. Aaron ugh where to begin was a complete ass and I couldn’t stand him from the start and Lukas was a man of a few words and seemed he couldn’t get away from Stella quick enough but when Stella learns his secrets she will be completely shocked. It was a good story and there are some things that you will be like wtf. Definitely would have liked an epilogue to see more of what happened to Lukas & Stella.
I love any book by Ms. Parker. They are always well written with good character descriptions so it is easy to identify with them. The main characters are likable and the bad ones are bad enough so you don't doubt one from the other. It's nice to have no ambiguity sometimes even if it's only in a novel although the h's Dad did kind of fall into that grey area. There are few grammatical errors, a missed word or misspelled one rarely. Enjoyable and the second novel, which I had read before, was a complete re-read for me, something I rarely do but it was very satisfying to read again.
I LOVED this book!!! Stella met Lukas in the mountains after he saves her from a pack of wolves. Lukas is mysterious and not much of a talker but somehow leaves a lasting impression with Stella where she can’t stop thinking about him. They cross paths again and their connection is undeniably hot. They agree to just sex where Lukas introduces Stella to a whole new kind of pleasure.
A few twists and unexpected revelations are presented but will keep you wanting to know more. Great book. I absolutely loved Lukas and his dark and mysterious demeanor.
I never know what to expect by M.S. Parker and her stories. And, I know I like the way her stories make me feel. In this story, I really wanted to strangle Lukas, but so glad he finally redeemed himself! I fell in love with the characters, had my heart shattered, and then Stella redeemed herself and Lukas and all was right with the world.
I'm beginning to expect the unexpected with M.S. Parker, and can't wait to see what comes next!!!
Please note that I did receive an ARC of this book, and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
What an amazing story. It has some action, drama, and of course hot romance. The story is extremely well written as with all of M.S. Parkers books. I started it and couldn’t put it down until I got to the end. I loved the characters Stella and Lukas. He is such a brooding alpha male that is too hot for words. Stella is this strong, independent, feisty woman that you wish you were her. Together they have such explosive chemistry. This is definitely worth reading and it won’t disappoint. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I've been a fan of M.S. Parker for quite some time and was never disappointed. Rescued by the Woodsman is yet another great book by her. The story is gripping and sexy at the same time. One minute you laugh, the next minute you feel like throwing something. Its such a great read that I couldn't put the book down. As an added bonus there is also the complete series Billionaires Mistress in this book which is also a great read. If you want a great book to get lost in I suggest reading it. You will not be disappointed.
First things first, the book ends at 33% and another story starts.
Second, only a few chapters he was the “woodsmen” the all the sudden he turned out to be the billionaire ceo and her new boss. I was hoping with the title he would be more of a woodsman or lumberjack, but nope.
Third, I skipped most the sex scenes. They did absolutely nothing for me and felt forced.
Fourth, some back and forth chapters between Stella’s POV and Lucas’s POV would have been better.
2.5 STARS // You know, this book wasn’t terrible. There were actually several parts of this that I thoroughly enjoyed, and most of them were the sweet romantic parts. I think that if you were into some of the things that the characters do you’d probably really like this book, but it just wasn’t really what I was expecting or wanting. I also wish we had his POV. It was really hard to see what was going on in his head, although I did really enjoy getting a chance to watch Lukas grow and develop as a character as it was given.
