another interesting but ultimately unsatisfying history. too many typos! and had a lot of arguments that it never came close to proving, favoring instead a meandering, loving chronicle of the beauty of these critics. that’s all well and good, but not when you’re trying to prove that they significantly changed the course of criticism or of dance. i didn’t learn much, and I preferred Conner - at least she had an argument i could push back against
