James Weinberg's CONTRARY CREATURES is a unique addition to a classroom or child's bookshelf, diving deeper than traditional opposites picture books to explore animal traits & behavior. Unique, colorful artwork captures the eye.
This is a fun concept book in a few words showing the differences between animals and their traits. Uses many of the ecosystems on the earth and compares and contrasts animals. Good read aloud to young children and they can spot animals they know and others they don't know about.
A lovely nonfiction book for PreK-2 grade. Bright, crisp illustrations and a great way to introduce the word "contrary" as opposites. Author includes brief explanation of each creature at the end of the book. A fabulous introduction to informational reading.
A simple opposites concept book about animals and how they differ. It would make a great non-fiction storytime read aloud, and it could easily be shortened to fit the time.
This would be great for a storytime! It highlights all sorts of animal opposites. Not to mention the pictures are really pretty and colorful and kid-friendly.
Excellent simple introduction to various animal characteristics. Am I imagining that the last illustration is reminiscent of Maurice Sendak's Max in Where the Wild Things Are?
