Book doesn't help you understand how bitcoin works
The book raises concepts but then dies not explain them. For example it talks about bitcoin miners. But then dies not explain how they do whatever it is that they do or how to become a bitcoin miner. After reading the book that remains a mystery. The book talks about block chains but doesn't explain who actually creates blocks or how they get inserted into the chain. After reading the book I really don't have any real understanding of the mechanics of what makes bitcoin work. If I wanted to go and get some bitcoins I only in have the vaguest idea of how to do that and that basically go to a website mentioned in the book. I don't have any idea what's a price for bitcoin is determined. I don't know what's in a block and who puts whatever information there is a block or how to insert a block in a block chain. The book says UT takes a lot of energy to do a block chain which is expensive but does not explain why a lot of energy is needed.
All and all the book did little to enhance my understanding of bitcoin.
As someone who isn't that familiar with cryptocurrencies or bitcoin, I found the book interesting. It provides a good basic introduction to how cryptocurrencies and the blockchain system that enables them to function as a currency operate. On the downside the book is relatively short and there are considerable details on how these curriencies function that was glossed over or not really explained. The blockchain system is fairly complicated and takes some time to truly understand it. I felt that the book didn't do that good of a job in explaining how it operates and after reading some sections in the book I ended up with more questions than answers. All in all it is not a bad book and I would recommend it as an introduction to cryptocurrencies. But you will want to move on to more detailed in-depth books to truly understand them.
This book is not worth the purchase or time to read. The title makes you think you will learn about Bitcoin but it's really nothing more than a book trying to get you to buy into Bitcoin. Again not worth the money unless your looking for a salesman 's pitch.
Read this book and it was a great introduction to this Bitcoin mystery. I recommend you take a minute and read this. I'm glad I did and thank you to the authors for making this information free.
There is a lot that I didn't know about BTC before reading this book. While short, this book has given me some great info to further dive into the subject on my own. Thanks!
I gave the book 4 stars because it was easy to read and broke down some of my basic questions about Bitcoin. I can’t give the book 5 stars simply because being a Bitcoin newbie I am not able to confirm accuracy of information in the book.
For someone who wants to get a good understanding of how bitcoin works, this a great book. Author explains it well and uses many examples so anyone can comprehend
A quick intro. A good place to get started on trying to understand the world of cryptocurrencies. I found a few things mentioned to be in quite subjective in nature.
Interesting read but seems to be on side of hyping rather than balanced view of pros and cons. More a marketing piece than critical analysis of this trend
