Mack Conway is a bit of a creep. He has a thing for the ladies, but they don't have a thing for him. His life could be better if he was a nicer guy - can he change his ways?

A really enjoyable short story that leaves you pondering just who was really the monster of the tale. Wonderfully written with a comeuppance I fully didn't see coming and an ending that left you with a smile on your face. Judd has a bit to answer for I think. Extra kudos for the author being a fellow Australian, I look forward to reading more of his work.

Having already read Allan Walsh’s “Blood Rage’ fantasy/adventure series, I was anxious to read something a little different from this author. “Easy Prey” was the perfect vehicle to accommodate that need. If you’ve not had the opportunity to read any of Allan’s work you are missing out on a pretty good reading experience. I find the short story format a wonderful way to get to know an author you’ve not read before or in this case read in a different genre. “Easy Prey” starts out with a “Grindhouse Horror” type feel to it. What you end up with is a good old fashioned, creepy, things that move in the night horror tale. An interesting and unique story with few, but interesting characters. I look forward to reading more from Allan Walsh.

From the back cover: Some guys are nice, and then there’s Mack.
Something sinister lurks around Shady Ridge. It's places like this you can find easy prey. Mack Conway is a creep with an eye for the ladies. Life hasn't exactly been kind to him. It could be better if he just played nice, but he ain't nice… and he's looking for trouble.
Surprising twist that had my mouth dropping open in shock! I wasn’t sure what to expect when I began this book. It was a quick read I finished in less than an hour. However, the author successfully induced very strong feelings of dislike, perhaps even hatred, from me over Mack. He is dangerous and every woman’s worst nightmare. Pure scumbag. Anyways, I was interested in the plot at all times and curious where the story was going. Then BAM! Out of nowhere the author sweeps the rug right from under you. It was an exciting and unexpected twist to this short story that has me still thinking about it hours after reading. I highly recommend this short story to fans of suspense who enjoy a good plot twist.
This is a well written short story which I really enjoyed. The characters were interesting and what happened at the lake was satisfying for me. I'd like to read more by this author.
Honestly, I don't like a short story, but I gave this exemption because I like the cover and love horror/fantasy story. I actually found out about this on Allan Walsh website while I was blog hopping this afternoon. I checked it out after reviewing a book and read the synopsis on Goodreads. I was intrigued and downloaded it from Amazon right away. I wasn't expecting anything because it was just a short story but it turned out good at the end. One character I like is Judd, it felt like he was the creepy one. I will not say why just go and read it. It won't take much of your time. The storyline was good, the writing as well. I think it was funny. It could be better if it's only a bit longer. I wanted to know more about the past of Mack why was he that pervert and how did Judd know about the woman in the lake. This is why I don't like short stories, I'll end up wanting.. needing more. I'll check out his other books, too. Thank you for the good story. I gave it 4 stars. I am hoping for a more extended version of this. It was interesting you know.
This was an interesting read! The title acts as a double innuendo for the town creep Mack's perspective on women, and the ending of the story (which I will not spoil). The only issues I had were how Mack was taken into police custody, returned to the bar and then carried on to the lake-house. I felt like this would have been more effective plot-wise if his actions at the bar second time around were portrayed as sinister, as opposed to an attempt to humanise him as someone misguided and 'unlucky with the ladies'. I also wish there was more backstory to the barkeep and his 'associate' at the lake house.
