Siempre encuentro puros contras y nada me gusta.

This was such a roller coaster volume, I can't.

As per usual, no spoilers because it's so far into the story that basically anything is a spoiler.
But! I do want to say that I enjoy the direction the story go immensely, I love what Sui Ishida is doing with the characters and he surprised me a lot during the course of this volume. Also per tradition, I need to say how beautiful art work has become, I love the style of this manga, from character and monster designs to panel composition.

I'm drowning in feelings and can't wait to read the next volume.

Spoilery thoughts and reactions chapter-by-chapter:

In the sequel series to Tokyo Ghoul, Haise Sasaki has been tasked with teaching his special squad of half-ghouls how to be outstanding Investigators, but this is complicated by the troublesome personalities of his subordinates and his own uncertain grasp of his Ghoul powers. Will he and the members of his squad become heroes or monsters, taken out by the other squads in the Commission of Counter Ghoul...?!

I was blown away by the events in Tokyo Ghoul: re vol. 15! We had some pretty creative happenings with Haise up to this point. I’ve really come to love Ken as much as fans of the original series. The fact I met him first as Haise really influenced me the same way it did the Q squad! And that comes to a head in this volume. Mutsi must be taken down... and I never suspected the way that would happen!

The creativity of this series is only matched by the art which seems to keep pace with the changing lives of our characters. Which is to say it has a style all its own that seems to metamorphoses everyone’s appearance depending on what moment we’re exploring. But that’s what you come to love about the series! We meet Rize again in a most unusual way.

But my favorite moment is when a family is reunited. It’s amongst a terrible result of the behemoth creature Ken created but how sweet that moment is for fans of Ken and Touka. That twist carries us into the next explosive volume and how can’t wait to see how it changes human and Ghoul relations... forever!

Urie really grew on me. At first I didn't like him but he's grown so much from when he was first introduced in the series.
And poor Hide I can't even imagine how much pain he went through.

Another solid instalment in this epic series!!

In this volume we see Mutsuki get his butt kicked by Urie and Yonebayashi (for some reason, my attraction to Urie has peaked in this volume!)

We also learn more about RIZE and the horrific future she escaped *shudders* And how her and Kaneki are more connected than ever in a few interesting and aesthetic chapters.

Elsewhere Touka frees Kaneki from the centipede/dragon thingy he became after consuming lots of oggai…and he awakens to find he is surrounded by the goat ghouls and the CCG. And learns Hide is actually alive!!

Also, Nimura Furuta is still being a typical villain and revels in what he thought would happen, happens - namely that normal humans are now turning into ghouls!

Yonebayashi becomes infected with the spawn of the centipede/dragon but Kaneki seems almost invincible to the threat that’s plaguing pretty much everyone!

This instalment ends with a really emotional reunion between Kaneki and Hide with the latter showing Kaneki what he did to his face in order to stay alive! *weeps*

OMFG the feels here.

Everyone is trying to save Kaneki, and man oh man, I was getting teary eye at one point. On top of that we see our first look at the "Dragon" that we should be afraid of and now I see why. This ending is building up to something special. So many great character moments here, fights are brutal, and the end resolution is perfect. I'm really loving this second half of Tokyo Ghoul. A 4.5 out of 5.

This is truly “the power of friendship, the manga volume” personified. And I love that shit! I’m a sucker all day, every day, for the power of friendship. The power of friendship always has the ability to make me cry.

First of all, we have Urie and Yonebayashi fighting for their deranged bestie Mutsuki. Mutsuki is truly a feral creature, but they don’t care! That’s their bestie, and they’re gonna stand by him until he comes to his senses. I simply must respect it 😔👌🏻 Especially when you’re deranged, you deserve to have someone in your corner rooting for you to be your better self.

Then, we have all these characters coming together to find Kaneki within the creature that’s consumed him. Touka literally digging like a madwoman to find her husband. And later, everyone who’s ever been positively impacted by Kaneki, waiting by his bedside for him to wake up and be with them again. I could weep out of the bittersweet happiness I feel seeing him in such a fragile state surrounded by so many loved ones

Finally, I have so much respect not only for what Hide has sacrificed for Kaneki, but for Kaneki’s willingness to face that and not hide from it. They’re both incredible 😭 the definitions of BFFL 🔥

The only annoying thing about this volume was once again Kaneki having to deal with the lil speeches about how he’s just selfish and the worst man on this earth 🙄 SPARE ME. No man that is that horrible would be surrounded by people who are ride or die for him. BE GONE, DARK THOUGHTS! It’s not that Kaneki shouldn’t feel any guilt about the mistakes he’s made, but this constant push for him to hate himself for them is also aggravating. All he’s ever wanted is to help ghouls and humans. Leave my man alone!

This volume for me was more of a 2.5 stars. There wasn't much happening (who am I kidding?) that interested me.

Even my random commentary is going to be more concise than before. On to it, then:

The humans and ghouls are coming together to face a threat even greater! So damn good. Also Kaneki’s character development is some of the best I’ve seen in manga. Rize coming back is absolutely insane and Furata is the perfect batshit crazy antagonist for everyone to face.

PS: Mutsuki’s rep is almost questionable now due to some of the things he says here but…idk maybe it’s just because he’s a character in Tokyo Ghoul, but it definitely seems like his identity was used to villainize and “other” him

You weep over this unintended consequence, but you just couldn't see it. In fact, you didn't even try to see it. You chose to only see the beautiful parts, so you could sip the clean water.

Just one more until the end. I feel like the artwork in this volume is absolutely stunning. It managed to bring me some happines in uneasy times (like always with TG). Also, some amazing character moments, really well built and hard-hitting. I'm looking at you, Hide and Rize.

Warnings: body horror and graphic violence, suicide attempt

Continuing with the Dragon arc, where Kaneki is still trapped as the core of the Dragon kakuja, we have him 'waking' up on the inside for some regularly scheduled Introspection Time. Meanwhile, on the outside, everyone else is fighting to keep the team responsible for his rescue safe - Yonebayashi and Urie are fighting Tooru while entreating him to return to them and the Chateau, and Tooru lamenting over how he felt surrounded by lies. It is, on the whole, an intense volume, digging into character stories again while also having some spectacular action scenes.

Kaneki's introspection comes with a side of censure, in the form of Rize who accuses him of not caring for any life, human or ghoul. At first, it seems like she is a figment of his imagination, but there are certain statements about her life back in the Washu household that point to a more unclear nature. I feel like it was a combination of the part of her that are in him, due to the Oggai, and his own subconscious talking to him, as he evaluates the cost of this war GOAT has with CCG, and whether it was right to take an anti-human stance to protect ghoul lives; chiefly, he also thinks over his motives for being the leader of the movement. I think Rize's questions to him about his past and the things that happened to him and the things that he did built another facet of his character arc well.

Things aren't so cool on the outside even when they manage to rescue him. (Did I feel a bit emotional about the quinx squad coming to protect Touka? Yes, I did) Furata has plans built within plans, and considering the new threat that develops in the second part, and knowing that the next volume is the last one had me a bit worried, NGL. Also, it doesn't spell good things for Kaneki because it seems like he'll have to run into danger, yet again. So, you know, quite intense throughout.

AHHHH!!! Hide and Kaneki finally reunited 🥺

I hope Saiko is okay tho....if she d words in the last volume Sui Ishida better start running

Also!!! Mutsuki?? Idk how to feel. I feel so bad for him and I loved him at the start of this series but that whole thing with Kaneki is just so strange I can't 💀

But omg??? The chapter with Rize was so wild
Like I love Kaneki but I'm also glad Sui Ishida highlights his flaws. That whole chapter was beautiful but also disturbing, which I feel can be said for this whole series 💀

BUT HNNNNNNG I CAN'T BELIEVE I ONLY HAVE ONE MORE VOLUME TO GO I'M SO SADGE

Rating: 3.8 stars (overall)

Summary (for the whole manga):
Haise Sasaki is a new uprising Ghoul Investigator who is in charge of a newly formed squad, Quinx Squad (QS). QS consists of CCG's human investigators who have RC cells and can operate both quinque and kagunekagune. After the previous battle between CCG and ghouls, Ken Kaneki, a powerful ghoul, was though to have been defeated. However, many could see the resemblance of Kaneki in Sasaki. Sasaki has no memory of his past, and several senior investigators hide the truth from him. At times, Sasaki hears an inner voice that keeps communicating with him. Despite confusion with his own identity, he continues to fight against ghouls and tries his best to become a mentor to the QS.

Likes:
-- I was happy to know that there was a sequel to the first manga series, Tokyo Ghoul, tome 1. The story is getting more intense, and more characters are introduced, both ghouls and CCG.

Dislikes:
-- It seemed like there was not much story on , and on the story after the last battle in the first manga series.

I really do love when rize is used as a communicative device to kaneki. It’s much like the centipede, really. It’s a lovely parallel to her primary dialogue with kaneki in the first series, where he is being tortured and actually accepts being a ghoul. It’s similar here, that he’s having to accept all that he’s killed, the city he’s ruined. Ultimately, he’s having to take on his burden the same way he’s done before, except now that burden is considerably heavier.
We’re asked: would you sink or swim in sin?

-

ASPECTOS NEGATIVOS
- Mutsuki (y Aura) me importan tres pepinos.
