Finding God Every Day God is present to us in ways too numerous to count. Unfortunately, we are often so busy that we fail to recognize and respond to this active presence. A Catholic Woman’s Book of Days offers daily meditations that clear a spiritual place—a time in our day when we can set our hearts on God. The meditations are brief, pointed, direct, and personal—and will connect you to God’s word and the Catholic faith. While a number of successful devotionals for women have been published for the general Christian market, A Catholic Woman's Book of Days is the first resource in the Catholic market featuring daily devotions and prayers for women. Written by Amy Welborn, the devotional entries are pointed and brief, and help Catholic women connect their everyday concerns with God's Word in the context of their Catholic faith. Each entry is introduced by a Scripture verse and followed by a one-sentence prayer. These devotions and prayers are sure to provide Catholic women with a dose of God's grace each day of the year.
Although I liked the brevity of each days’ reflection, I didn’t find most of them to be particularly inspiring enough to give much thought to. I could see the appeal for other folks, this just wasn’t for me.
A Catholic Woman's Book of Days, written by Amy Welborn, is a beautiful daily devotional. It follows the calendar year, and has a quote and reflection for each day. I appreciated that it was specifically written for women, I believe that there are certain verses where different groups would benefit in different ways from reading them, and I found this book being written for a specific population helpful. I also appreciated that the book recognizes different Holy Days, as well as ways that we can incorporate prayer and reflection in our daily life. I definitely recommend this book! Thank you to NetGalley, and to the author and publisher of this book for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Amy Wellborn has penned a thoughtful devotional with an entry for every day of the year. The reflections are short but powerful. Each day has a verse, a reflection, and then a single prayer. The entries are based on her experience as a woman, a mom, a believer and i found myself able to relate often. I like that the entries can be read in a single sitting and can easily fit into any moment of the day. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.
Bit disappointed by this book but I guess I shouldn’t have been expecting a mind blowing yearly read. Not sure why I was.
There were a few days where I really felt an impact on what I read but for the other 362 or whatever days it didn’t really make me think too much or wasn’t super engaging. Even the days that seemed like they would be really weren’t.
I couldn’t wait to try this book! So far it seems interesting. I really like that for everyday of the year, there is a daily meditation. A lot of material that is out is more for Christians and I always wished for more Catholic.
I hope to keep up everyday with the meditations so far, I am enjoying them.
Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for this e-ARC.
This is a perpetual book, with a short reflection for each day of the year. I have owned it for over a year, and while I may or may not have read each day yet, eventually that will occur as I read and reread it year after year.
I loved this daily devotional. The meditations are very down to earth and written in a way that makes it easy to sit with in thought to see how they apply or can be applied in my life.
I usually don't stick with "daily reader" books long, and I must have over a dozen. I keep returning to Amy's, because she's deep without being formal, and faithful without being snotty. I don't feel lectured to, and I don't know the end of the page from the first sentence, either... both are common flaws of similar books. Reading a page from this book is like catching a quick word with an insightful friend. Don't miss it.
