A struggle to get through.
A demigod battles bad guys to position himself sufficiently to overcome his godlike superiors in this poorly-executed tale of adventure in an implausible universe. I stuck with it through the end, gritting my teeth the entire way at constant editing errors and oversights. The overt negative opinion of women was worse. There were occasional passages of well-wrought prose, but not near enough to make up for this novel’s shortcomings. I regret having purchased the three-book bundle, because I’m not going to read the other two.
