In this story, out protagonist is a dead man. Not really, instead, he faked his death to save his family and now works behind the scenes of a covert operations group. That is until his daughter is kidnapped and no one appears to think it is one. What can a dead man and his wife do against a community that has incentives to prevent them getting any help?
Her daughter is missing. The island police say she left with her boyfriend! A witness says she didn’t go willingly! What would a mother do to find her daughter? Will she find her in time?
I didn't love this as much as I had hoped. I found the writing a bit confusing at times (still unsure about the openings into the water filled cave) and I didn't bond to any of the characters.
Will Connor faked his death 17 years ago to protect his wife and infant daughter from his secret life. Now an old foe has kidnapped his daughter, drawing him in along with his estranged wife in hopes of saving her life--even if it means trading his own.
Maggie Connor wasted away inside her home after an explosion killed her husband. When her teenage daughter disappears, she goes on a hunt for the truth, determined not to lose another person she loves.
The "body clock" is neat because it adds an extra hint of the fact that time is running out. A quick, light read. More suspense than romance. Intriguing concept and characters.
I don't read many Harlequin romances as many of them seem so formulaic, however this one was a pleasant surprise. It had romance for sure, but it was more in the action/thriller genre. The story is somewhat predictable: Will left his family years before in order to save them from the bad guys. Now that his daughter is missing, he will move heaven and earth to find her. There were times that you just had to go 'really? you expect to believe this?' but more often than not the action was tense and well written. This appears to be the first of the series "The Body Hunters" that revolve around a clandestine operation that finds the missing.
The story of will who faked his death 17 years ago to save the life of his wife and daughter. He is a member of a group called the body hunters. They take cases the police wont take. When his daughter is kidnapped because of him he comes out of hiding to help find the daughter he hasn't seen since she was a year old.
