ID Johnson wears many hats: mother, wife, editor, tutu maker, and writer, to name a few. Some of her favorite people are the two little girls who often implore that she "watch me!" in the middle of forming finely crafted sentences, that guy who dozes off well before she closes her laptop, and those furry critters at the foot of the bed at night. If she could do anything in the world, she would live in Cinderella's castle and write love stories all day while sipping Dr. Pepper and eating calorie-less Hershey's kisses. For now, she'll stick to her Dallas-area home and spending her days with the characters she's grown to love.

3.5 stars rounded up.

The last in the “Ghosts of Southampton” series. Really, these three books should have been just one book, since they were all so short.

The story about Meg and Charlie continues, picking up as the Carpathia steams into New York harbor, carrying its own passengers as well as the survivors of the Titanic disaster. Charlie’s health is in danger, since he spent so much time in the freezing Atlantic Ocean. None of the characters are emotionally unscathed by the disaster, but some handle it better than others.

All the storylines are tied up pretty much as you would expect, although there are some twists. Meg eventually faces her past trauma and learns to overcome it.

One minor point that I found annoying: the author apparently doesn’t know the difference between a “lady-in-waiting” who is an aristocratic woman who volunteers to be a companion to the Queen and a “lady’s maid” who is a paid servant. Throughout all three books, she used these terms interchangeably and incorrectly.

Otherwise, these books are good, quick reads.

This was the conclusion to Meg and Charlie's story. After almost losing the chance to find love with each other, they had both survived the Titanic's sinking and Meg’s introduction to Charlie's family. Life has not been easy for them, and became less so after having barely survived the Titanic. Now, they need to survive their engagement party and let the world know that Meg was still alive. After that, they will need to deal with Meg's past before they can face a new future together.

Like the previous two stories in this series, I greatly enjoyed reading this book. The author did a very good job of letting us see into the heads of her characters as they came to grips with what they have lived through and find a way to deal with the trauma that was left behind.

Each of the books in this series were very hard to put down at night. These stories are ones that I think anyone who has enjoyed the rest of the books in this series will also want to read.

One small warning, however, part of the trauma that one of the characters must deal with involves her having grown up in an abusive home. While I don't believe there was anything graphically described in this book, the reader should be aware that dealing with being a trauma survivor is one of the themes of this book.

In my opinion, it is a story that is well worth reading.

Everyone should read

I read all 3 because I enjoy reading the whole story. This series was extremely powerful in getting many messages alive in the minds of its readers. The author commented on the subject of abuse and this is a subject that many people like to pretend doesn't exist. I work in a field where this behavior is seen everyday.

The characters were interesting and you wanted to jump into the story and support and encourage Meg through her life's ordeals. This story kept you on the edge of your seat, impatient to read the next page, and not wanting to put it down. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

Heavier

This book is heavier than the first. Although the first book was tragic with the retelling of that fateful night and the facts that supported it, this book dives deeper into emotions, world building, character development and thought processes.

It is as the blurb suggests: the aftermath of the Titanic and how it has affected the characters. I don’t feel the need to rehash it in a summary. I will say that Meg eventually confronts her mother and uncle and things happen!

I found the promotions, the “predictions” of the future amusing. “womens rights?” pff. Telephones in which they can see each other (facetime)? crazy talk.
All hilarious.

Trilogy of Ghosts of Southampton

I've always been fascinated by Titanic which was the reason for picking up Ghosts of Southampton to begin with. I believe that readers should read the entire trilogy to receive a complete view of each character and how they relate to each other. Meg and Charlie are both strong in their own way, but together they seem invincible and so loving to everyone. The story is not always easy to read as it does involve the loss of innocence in young girls. However, the ending is satisfying, with everyone getting what they deserved.

Fun, but serious read

The characters depth and layers. The story was wonderful, about their lives after the sinking of the Titanic leading up to Charlie an Megs wedding although Meg had ghosts of her own from before the sinking. Jonathon, Charlies man Friday, has a secret of his own. It's a wonderful story that couldnt put down and l highly recommend it.

The conclusion to the story of Meg and Charlie. I was swept up in the feelings Charlie experienced because of PTSD: trauma and survivor’s guilt. I cheered Meg’s growth from victim to victor. This was my favorite book of the trilogy.

An Excellent Trilogy

I already have a book hangover from binge reading all three of the books in a very short time. The story was so well told that as a reader I just couldn't help myself. Thanks for an excellent binge!

A story of pleasure, history, and a bit of psychology.

This story is from the perspective of Titanic survivors and life after tragedy. The characters become very believable and setting is reality in the early 1900s. Thankful for all the happy solutions and love!

I did not think this one was anywhere near as good as the first one...there were some shocking things throughout the book (especially towards the end)...but I was also able to predict others as well.
