Blood splotches on the cover, a character named Evil Angela, a blurb introducing the character as psychopath?

I had this book sitting on my virtual bookshelf for a while, unsure if I should really pick it up and read it, out of fear it would compromise my friendship with the author. Yes, we both wrote a chapter in the same book collaboration, 31 Overlook Hotel and we had a few nice chats. We got along well, so, would I be willing to put a budding friendship on the line by reading his book, possibly giving it a bad review because I didn't like it?

I finally picked it up as my Christmas read, and was rewarded with not just one book, but it rather felt like three books in one, and I loved them all.

Expecting a cold-blooded, psychopathic killer, Dr. Evangelina Smith turned out to be all that and so much more. I fell in love with the girl, slipping into the story and her skin as easy as if I had written it myself. I felt the agony, the resulting numbness, the stoic determination that followed, the need to hold onto a new purpose, slowly getting back to life, learning to love again, until it all got shattered once more by betrayal. And that part is just the beginning!

An absolutely satisfying read that will keep you hooked until you turned the last page, craving for more. The astounding storyline has earned five Stars for sure!

Evil Angela is a story that belongs on the big screen with legends like John Wick, The Matrix, Rampage, Wanted and Salt. It’s powerful, fast paced, gripping, psychologically clever and written by a skilled mind and hand. Stones representation of three very unique and strong female characters is admirable. He has managed to portray exceptional personalities that are all believable and exciting.
The story is unpredictable, holding the reader hostage on the edge of jarring situations. As the characters struggle against norms, blazing their own trails, abiding by some rules and completely obliterating others, you connect with each one of them on a personal level, feeling what they feel. The story is solid and well thought out. The quality of writing is above average. It reads easy and flows well.
Stone has managed to capture the essence of true female strength and balanced it with sincere vulnerability. His use of dialogue is great, and it reads well, each conversation giving greater insight into the characters hearts and minds.
I remained on a tight rope in this story, watching with devilish curiosity from my rickety platform, to see what would happen next. I could not put it down and nailed it in three days. I was very pleased to discover that there was a second book. The characters inspired me on a personal level which shows how well tuned Stone is to the female psyche.
The story is sexy, but never sleazy. Stone has mastered the art of innuendos and inference, leaving the really hardcore stuff to the readers own imagination. I wished for deeper telling in a few parts, but I soon realized the power in the inferred message was far more profound and riveting. Sometimes it’s more appealing when less is said, and Stone has made this an artform. The pictures come in full color and with surround sound without the need for words.
Stone is talented and bright. His knowledge of military terms and activities is impressive, and he manages to weave a realistic story while stretching the readers imagination just a little, just enough to disbelieve what we’ve been taught and consider that more is impossible.
This story challenges beliefs and norms, it instigates, excites and ignites thoughts that were never there before. I learned from this book, more than I bargained for. I simply LOVED IT.

Angelina is a brilliant, beautiful scientist with an impressive memory and martial arts skills. Naturally, she’s recruited as an assassin. Her ability to kill is useful, until she crosses a line. “Evil Angelina” has an excellent cast of characters, including three intriguing women. This fast-paced story has hidden worlds within worlds and abundant plot twists. I especially enjoyed the ancient, magical society with deadly modern conflicts. Magic is “subtle manipulations of the electromagnetic spectrum, the microcosm, and even dark matter itself.” Details make the story believable and compelling, while the ending leaves you wanting more. Happily, a sequel awaits.

If you like secret government action thrillers with a little paranormal action for fun, boy do I have a series for you! JA Stone pulls off another masterpiece that will leave you gasping for breath. Meet
Evangelina Smith, who starts out as a somewhat cold and distant genius professor, and ends up being a total Badass! Because of her genius IQ, she's recruited by a secret government agency to take on bad guys all over the world. There's just one problem, she's better at it than everyone else and it seems to take little to no toll on her emotionally!
That is until she grows close to a former student, Antipathy Jones, who also is a vampire and might even be more of a badass than Ms. Smith! Chaos ensues when these two pair up, falling for each other immediately, and deal with their own version of bad guys.
I'm telling you, you have got to read this! The beginning of what I'm sure is going to be a phenomenal series!

This is a fun and wacky romp, reminiscent of Christopher Moore's paranoid paranormal books. A sociopathic toxicologist you can't help but root for, a sexy vampire who faces down New Orleans zombies like they're yesterday's crawdads, and an ancient wise man who occupies a different hunkalicious body each month. Oh, and don't forget about the adorable dog and lovesick military commander. This genre-bending adventure is fun and fast-paced, but there's an undertone of deep philosophical musing that makes you wonder whether it really is all fun and games... Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Awesome Read

Eva and Tippy are two sexy, beautiful, strong women. Sizzling hot - too hot to handle. This is a fast paced adventure (to say the least) filled with continuous action, blood, lust, anticipation, and supernatural. It screams of twists and turns you could not have predicted. It was well planned out and truly awesome. I don't want to spoil the story for the readers, but I will say, I look forward to reading the next by this talented author JA Stone. 5 Stars

Super Compelling! I finished in one fast read. The anit-heroine Angela is so unique! A female sociopath turned assassin, who is a stone cold killer, yet tries to understand what is right and wrong. This character is so original she deserves her own movie or tv series! I loved being in her head as she tries complete her kills, and find out what love it. I enjoyed the universe JA Stone created, I snapped up the next book: Antipathy Jones, Biological Problem Solver.

So much more than I expected

Definitely not the story I was expecting after reading the description… but like, wow, was this a really, really, really good book!!

Its unique & captivating storyline, spectacular in its complexity, fluidity & intensity creates a very compelling & entertaining book, with plenty of twists & surprises to hold attention & whet the appetite for more.

With a nice flowing effortless progression, engaging narrative incorporating such formidably flawed & unflinchingly unrepentant characters made it an intriguing & engaging read.

As this story continues in the next book, my only thought is— What the hell is gonna come next?

An interesting story

I have mixed feelings about this book. Parts of it I really like. A few parts were confusing. Its almost like two different stories blended together. On the whole I enjoyed it.

The author writes an engaging and fun read filled with unforgettable characters. Dr. Evangelina Smith is a genius specializing in toxicology. I'll leave you with that idea as I don't do spoilers. The author depicts strong and kickass women which I love to read about. The book was a winner for me. I did have a bit of trouble believing a sociopath could be in a caring relationship. The idea doesn't fit the definition of a sociopath but other than that minor misstep (IMHO) I thoroughly enjoyed the novel.
