This is a fairy tale-type story about a boy who leaves home while scoffing at all of the scary creatures his family warns him about--until he encounters said creatures and realizes they knew more about what they were saying, after all.
Bright, 1970s illustrations have a primitive, unpolished look.
This book is about a boy who leaves his family to go on an adventure. He encounters all the monsters his family tells him he will, and he learns that his place is with his family. I like this book because of its simplicity. It repeats a lot of words over and over again, so children who read it will understand and learn those repeated words. I would use this book with my children because it has a good moral lesson that they could learn from. They would love the illustrations, and they would enjoy the story.
